For years we have been looking for a spinner to take over. In modern history, it was Saeed Ajmal who was leading and than was replaced by Yasir Shah. In the meanwhile the likes of Zufiqar Babar and Abdur Rehman provided a supporting spin role with their left arm spin.

After Yasir Shah's pedophile case came up and he was not selected again, Pakistan has tried many spinners. Shadab, Nawaz, Qadir and Imad all came, but all these spinners had issues where some would not be able to turn the ball, while others cant even get their line and length.

Now here comes Abrar, turning the ball both ways, wasnt played in the world cup, and now has already started to have an impact in limited overs with his delivery turning both ways.

Is he the spinner that will lead the spin attack of Pakistan for the next 10 years?

Pedophile case? I wasn't aware of this, I thought it was poor form.

Regardless yes abrar will be main, He's a genuine quality spinner, He's not kuldeep or anything but he's good and will be crucial to Pakistan's success.

He's 100x better then usama, Nawaz, Shadab as a spinner. He's also not bad as a no 11, I've seen him tonk a few so pretty good. Good fielder and great fitness as well.

He's one of my favourite prospects.

A genuine spinner has been our missing link for so long. Hopefully Abrar grabs his chance

He's a work in progress and rough around the edges.

But definitely has the most potential of the lot.

I just hope he delivers well outside Pakistan, which in reality is a big deal.

4 overs, 1 or 2 wickets for less than 28 runs

Will take that from anyone bowling in the middle overs

May not be that much of a mystery if NZ batters get their heads together

He's not that good of a bowler but he's an even more pathetic fielder. So its better to keep him in Test cricket only.. he is not a white ball material.

Decent bowler for T20's. Will do well with batsmen going after him. Will increasingly struggle in Test cricket because he doesn't have the revs to genuinely best the best Test batters.

LOL let us compete 1st in white ball, red ball cricket is not even in sight ATM.

Donovan Ferreira could play an 11-ball 3-run knock in the ODI series opener vs Pakistan as Abrar tosses it slower through the air, tempting Ferreira into a mistimed loft straight to long-off, ending a forgettable debut innings.

After Yasir Shah, main spinner for Pakistan in Test is Noman.

In ODI, it is Abrar or Sufiyan.

Abrar did well in the last stages of the game... In the start, he was bowling too quick and was not giving enough flight ot the ball so that it can spin, but later on, he changed his approach and took wickets...

He should learn these kinds of things early on.

Talented spinner who should focus on classical leg spin and use the variations strategically rather than over doing it.

Everybody was furious for bringing in Haris for Waseem. But barely anyone complained about playing Abrar. Maybe they had an idea how he'd dismantle Proteas line-up

He has a long way to go before he’s a test bowler. Loop, flight , drift , control. But he’s definitely on the right track. He needs a really confident captain that can keep boundary riders and a slip fielder. I think he should play every ODI regardless of surface to develop his game.

South Africa lose 10 wickets for 71 runs

A dramatic collapse..

Nouman can't play test cricket for more than a year. Along with Sajid, Pakistan need to develop more spinners in test cricket and Abrar is must. Some others can be tried like Sufiyan Muqeem and M. Nawaz

Abrar should have played second test ahead of Sajid who looked below average in the first match

Pakistan messed that test game up. Playing 3 over aged spinners was a dumb move, and abrar should had been there instead as the young spinner.

Abrar Ahmed deceived Tashinga Musekiwa with a quick, flat delivery that skidded on without spinning, clean bowling him as it snuck between bat and pad in the ongoing match against Zimbabwe,

I'm not sure how successful Abrar will be in test cricket. He definitely has a high ceiling for white-ball. He will have to evolve as a bowler if he wants to be successful in the longest format of the game

He has now jumped 11 spot to 9th place in the latest icc ODI bowler rankings.... Boy is in some form atm...
