Manchester United swapped Alexis Sanchez for Henrikh Mkhitaryan in one of the biggest deals of this transfer window. Sanchez has been given the number 7 at United.

Will Alexis Sanchez live up to the hype and succeed at Manchester United?

I personally think he will because unlike other number 7 flops such as Di Maria and Depay, he is already proven in the Premier League.

Depay and di Maria are in top form in French football

Di Maria is top class player

Unfair to blame the player if they could not adjust to a particular system at one club .

With mourinho you never know this is the same manger who dismissed de bruyn and salah and both these players are in top form

PL proven.

Wanted to be a Man Utd player since he was a kid.

Add to that the fact that Man Utd is trying to become the Man Utd of old. They'll keep buying top class players to compete for titles.

Sanchez will give his best for United.

You guys have posted your opinions etc but seems like you guys actually forgot to vote in the poll! Please do!

He will do well. But I think his peak is slowly ending. He has played year after year in tournaments for Chile. It's a lot of wear and tear on his body.

I don't think so, I think Mikhitaryan will do well at Arsenal but I see Mourinho ruining Sanchez.

He will do well but there is no way Sanchez and Mourinho won't eventually combust and destroy each other.

I can see united winning the league next season only for it to fall apart later. Mourinho is a strictly short term manager these days and when things go wrong he will pick a scape goat as always. Right now its Pogba, in the future it will be Sanchez, too much ego for one room.

Ironically I think in some way Sanchez he was fortunte to play under Wenger. He is probably the only major manger in the world who will put up with crap and yet never ever publically slate his own player.

He has been dreadful for Man United. I think this is Torres-Chelsea all over again.

Torres was never the same player after his knee injury before the 2010 World Cup, and he was very poor for Liverpool till January 2011. When Chelsea signed him, they thought he was going to regain his past form and was probably not motivated to play for Liverpool anymore, but he never recovered from that slump.

I think Sanchez is done as a top player, and it will take a good year or two for the reality to sink in for Man United fans. He has lost his edge and is not the player he was a few years ago. Arsenal got rid of him at the perfect time - he was woeful last season till January as well.

Man United should cut their losses and send him packing next summer, replacing him with a proper winger, who doesn't lose the ball a thousand times in 90 minutes and can pass, shoot and cross with his weaker foot as well. Sanchez has become extremely predictable and wasteful.

The salary that he is on makes the whole situation even more comical. He is not worth £150k/week these days, let alone the obscene money that he is pocketing for playing like Obertan.

Great points again Mamoon. Once again good to see you can take some time out from warning against IK's despotic rule in Islamabad to give some insightful views on English football.

He's not getting the freedom he got at Arsenal, even in his decline he was really effective and always getting the ball trying to make something happen. In a squad that has alot of big names Sanchez loses the influence he had as a playmaker, and his goalscoring has genuinely declined as a player in his latter years

His bad form last season was due to poor fitness after he became disinterested in the game when Arsenal held him ransom, he became disgusted and lost interest.

He should come good this season and looks like he had been working hard during the summer - he also looks alot sharper in the two games hes played.

He's finished I think. He will have some good games but he will frustrate with giving the ball away and his predictable cutting on to his right foot. Being on 500k doesn't help as well.

Things going from bad to worse for Sanchez. It seems Jose has lost all confidence in him. And the fans too.

Manchester United forward Alexis Sanchez could be out for a "long time" with a hamstring injury, says manager Jose Mourinho.

The 29-year-old Chilean suffered the injury in training on Thursday.

Sanchez is yet to have a scan to determine the extent of the damage but Mourinho said he was "screaming" in pain.

"It is not a little muscular injury from which he will be ready in a week or 10 days," he added.

Mourinho says it is more severe than the hamstring injury defender Victor Lindelof has suffered.

The Sweden international, who was injured in Saturday's home draw against Crystal Palace, is expected to be out until the festive period.

On Sanchez, Mourinho added: "It is an aggressive muscular injury. He has not had a scan yet but the player is experienced. He knows what the injury is.

"From my experience, the painful scream and the way it happened, it will be a long time.

"For me and Alexis Sanchez, the grade is different to the one that Lindelof has and that was not easy."

So Sanchez is no where the top goal scorer for Man U this season - is his time being wasted? or maybe the money is too good!

I'm so gutted it hasn't worked out for him. Really really want him to do well but the honest truth is that it is very likely he will leave Manchester United :(

They weren’t paid £350k a week. When you consider the expectations + the money involved, no one beats Sanchez.

That is true, he's gone from scoring 30 goals and getting 15+ assists in all competitions for Arsenal in 16/17 to being unable to contribute at all, with the only thing still there from his Arsenal days is his work-rate. Safe to say it could've been the biggest robbery of all time if he had gone to City for £60 million.

Sanchez is second to Di Maria, in my opinion. Di Maria was 26 and in his prime when he moved for a British record transfer fee.

Sanchez was 29 when he moved and had already shown signs of slowing down at Arsenal. I think they expected him to be a Van Persie like impact signing for a season or two at most given his age. I doubt Sanchez can reinvent himself as a player without his pace/acceleration.

Forward Alexis Sanchez "does not regret" joining Manchester United but says he did not get enough playing time to be a success.

The Chilean, 30, joined Inter Milan on a season-long loan deal in August after 19 months at Old Trafford.

He was United's highest earner on about £400,000 a week - but scored only five times in 45 games after joining from Arsenal in January 2018.

"I'm very happy I went to Manchester United," Sanchez told BBC Sport.

"I've always said that. It's the club that's won the most in England.

"When I went to Arsenal it was fantastic - I was happy there - but United were growing at the time, they were buying players to win something.

"I wanted to join them and win everything. I don't regret going there."

Sanchez scored 80 goals in 166 matches for Arsenal after signing for £30m from Barcelona in July 2014, and was nominated for the Professional Footballers' Association Players' Players of the Year award in 2017.

However, his departure for United coincided with a severe downturn in form.

He scored just two goals in 27 appearances for the Premier League side last season, although he impressed during Chile's run to the Copa America semi-finals this summer, netting twice.

Sanchez started only 31 of 77 possible games for United and completed 13 of those.

"I think that I'm happy when I play for my national team," he said.

"I was happy at Manchester United too, but I've always said to my friends: I want to play.

"If they would let me play I'll do my best. Sometimes I'd play 60 minutes then I wouldn't play the next game - and I didn't know why."

Before his move to Inter Milan, Sanchez was not involved in pre-season matches and did not feature in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side's first three league games, with the club citing an injury picked up on international duty.

However, the Chilean said he felt "ready to play" after the Copa America.

"I felt fine," he said. "I think I did well in the Copa America.

"After that, it [not playing any pre-season games] depended on the coach to let me play. You need to ask him this question, not me."

Inter Milan forward Alexis Sanchez faces "two or three months out" after injuring his ankle on international duty, Chile boss Reinaldo Rueda says.

Sanchez - on loan at the Italian club from Manchester United - was hurt in Chile's 0-0 friendly draw with Colombia in Alicante on Saturday.

The Chilean Football Federation said the 30-year-old had dislocated tendons in his left ankle.

Sanchez has returned to Milan for further assessment.

Sanchez, who joined Antonio Conte's Inter on a season-long loan deal in August, scored on his first start for the Serie A title hopefuls against Sampdoria on 28 September and he also impressed in their Champions League defeat at his former club Barcelona.
