Would be great to see these two teams facing off more, especially in a Test match.

It will be amazing if bilateral series between Pakistan and Indian cricket resume but even if they are meant to happen, it will take some time. Foreign relations need to be improved when it comes to the more important stuff like J&K. Cricket is not as important as political relations, so should definitely be down on the priority list for Imran Khan.

Imran can't do anything unless India is willing. It seems Indian government has no desire to play with Pakistan at the moment.

There are elections next year in India. We will have a better idea then. If Modi is re-elected then say good bye to India-Pak relations improving.

Depends completely on the Indian govt. Out of curiosity, what are Modi's chances in the upcoming elections, Indian posters?

Vajpayee tried a similar stunt of revining cricket ties a few months before polls and lost the elections (no correlation though) in 2004.

Given that Modi will try to get relected on emotional issues, no cricket ties look feasible as of now. But then Modi has been unpredictable in his Pakistan policy. Never know that he may land up at Imran's swearing-in ceremony (if invited)

doubt he will be invited. Imran is probably going to have a very public swearing in ceremony so the optics will not work.

coming to the OP, I dont think its going to happen for a very long time. India's policy of isolating Pakistan will continue.

This is probably the third thread i am seeing on this topic and has gotten me extremely annoyed.

If you are still wondering then NO, one would be extremely naive to think that Modi government wants any actual peace with Pakistan. They ride on an anti Pakistan narrative. One of the main selling points was that Congress is too soft on Pakistan and we will go hard on them. That is why you saw the fake sirjeekal strike drama to cater to their jingoistic voter base. Forget about Indo Pak series for a while PLEASE.

A major part of his political campaign was Modi bashing. It would look politically embarrassing. To be honest I don’t want us to play against India and I’m not the only one with this opinion. Even if Imran try to initiate the process, it will only be after the general elections in India. Modi will also be reluctant after singing the song of ‘not playing with terrorists’ for about the last 5-10 years. So no, it’s not happening anytime soon.

If Modi and Imran have a summit meeting and Imran specifically asks to resume cricketing ties, it may be difficult to say no to a request from the head of the state.

Agree, dont want to play India too. Much prefer if we start increasing our tours to Australia and fix our shambloic record there.

Don't think any Pakistan PM will be willing to agree to the demands by Indian government. So Imran or no Imran, it won't change anything.

He may land up uninvited as well 🤣 :;))
