LHC summons NAB DG to explain Elahi's rearrest.

Court inquires how an inquiry was initiated, detention orders issued in the middle of the night.

LAHORE:
Terming the repeated arrests of politicians "drama", the Lahore High Court (LHC) has summoned the National Accountability Bureau director-general (DG) tomorrow (Thursday) to explain former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi's arrest.

Justice Muhammad Amjad Rafiq was hearing a petition filed by Elahi, who is also the president of the beleaguered Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, challenging his arrest by the country's top graft watchdog.

The court expressed displeasure over the repeated issuance of detention orders and multiple FIRs, often despite court orders to the contrary, in seemingly politically motivated cases.

LHC calls for releasing Elahi as NAB delays submitting reply.

LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday called for releasing former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi after the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) sought more time to submit its reply explaining his arrest, ordering the anti-graft watchdog to produce him before the court at 2 pm today.

A single bench comprising Justice Amjad Rafiq was hearing the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) president's plea challenging his detention by the country's top graft buster despite court orders refraining law enforcement agencies from arresting him.

Marching on towards the abyss..OK smart mouth let's see if you really are as smart as you think..

Now tell me the ten things the current govt has done that has made life better for a common Pakistani. They have had nearly two years without any major global disaster or internal terror etc. And the full support of chacha jee and his babay. So how about you tell all of us here what a wonderful job shobaaz sarkaar has done..you have this thread and this forum to tell us..now don't veer off into whataboutery just give us the plain facts..
Imran khan government was totally incompetent. Corruption under him went to higher levels. He hardly passed any legislation . Pdm is also corrupt and incompetent . We all know that also

These two words, "incompetent and competent", have been thrown around conveniently and it shows bow gullible the educated ones are and probably the laziest argument against the IK and PTI.

Pakistani politician are forced to be compromised due to various reasons, PTI and IK was compromised due to resistance from every corner, from bossiness community to military.

Change in tobacco law, the KPK bossiness community will go against them.
Change in agriculture law, the Punjab will go against them.

They had to compromise since they did not have majority.

PML-N and other parties are compromised because they wanted to protected their stolen wealth.

No PM of Pakistan is incompetent, it is just they are compromised.

PTI ready to bridge gap between Imran Khan and establishment.

PTI, whose topmost leadership including its chairman, deputy chairman and president are presently behind the bars, is keen for a rapprochement between the institution and Imran Khan.

The PTI, whose topmost leadership including its chairman, deputy chairman and president are presently behind the bars, is keen for a rapprochement between the institution and Imran Khan.

Party sources said that in the absence of its jailed top leaders, including Imran Khan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Pervez Elahi, the PTI second tier leaders are seriously discussing ways and means to get the party out of the present situation where it is in a direct confrontation-like situation with the establishment.

According to a PTI source, there is also discussion within the party that continuing confrontation between the PTI and establishment will neither serve the party nor the institution or the country. The source said that the PTI wants the establishment to reconsider its present policies towards the party and in return a guarantee can be given to the institutions about Imran Khan’s softening his stance.

No thanks

Can’t trust Khan anymore

Three of incarcerated PTI chief Imran Khan’s lawyers said after meeting him in jail on Saturday that he was “willing to talk to all” but only on elections.

“Finally met Khan sahib at Attock jail with other colleagues. Thank God, he is in great spirit but is concerned about the ongoing uncertainty, inflation, and terrorism. He is willing to talk to all BUT about the election,” his lawyer, Barrister Gohar Khan, posted on X.

Similarly, lawyer Nadeem Haider Panjutha posted: “Khan sahib dismissed all fake news about him seeking pardon, worrying and wanting to leave the country. He said ‘I will live and die in Pakistan’.

“He also said we are willing to talk to all but just on elections.”

Meanwhile, another of Imran’s lawyers, Intazar Hussain Panjutha, said: “Khan sahib said today that he will talk to any political party or institution on the matter of holding elections.”

Over 80% population does so your comment is irrelevant
Unless Ex-PMIK can magically come with $25Billion/year for the next 3 years, what exactly is the difference he can make? he swore that he would never go to iMF and we all know how that turned out.

He has a magic wand.
He is a messiah.
Everything he touch will turn into gold.

Few reason why over 80 to 90% Pakistani wants to elect him as a PM. After reading your comment one would have to answer like this because you’ve absolutely failed to understand the issue. :facepalm lol

Imran Khan's popularity is increasing day by day due to the performance of the PDM or caretaker government.

Only hope that the elections will be fair. However, it seems that some decisions of the caretaker government indicate that the elections may not happen soon.

He can stabilise, he can start to make difficult decisions because he has the people behind him, he can restore trust.

As if they matter to us
BTW, you wait and hope I am not here. So once again tell us what the Generals saved PK from. Was it the reserves of 18bn, 6% growth, a stable economy, remittances at record levels, exports up by a 1/3rd, millions of jobs created. What did Bajwa save PK from? And don't run

Making difficult decisions requires coordination among all stake holders and to a certain extent a great deal of executive power. Has any Pakistani PM ever had that?

It also requires EQ not back yourselves into corners you can't get out of. No sure I've seen that from IK.

No, but with a huge majority he would have that. The Generals have run out of ideas except to kill, kidnap and arrest people to torture. Something has to give. The thugs are desperate for Kaptaan to give them an NRO but he won't. They want him to leave PK but he wont.

In 75+ years, only ones with enough executive power to make "difficult" decisions has been the martial law administrators/military dictators. only one who came close actually doing that was Mush and that too because things were smooth with WOT dollars flowing in, which kept the balance of payments issue in check.

Two conditions need to be met as I see it.

1) Civilian govt with enough executive power.

2) Keep balance of payments in check.

Difficult to picture a situation where both conditions are met.

>>>Look at the short term first: Pakistan is choking on debt. Tracheostomy needs to be applied immediately. Consider that in the coming fiscal year the government’s own budget estimate puts government revenue by tax collection at Rs7 trillion. The same estimate puts expenses at Rs14.5 trillion. Of this Rs14.5 trillion, Rs7.4 trillion is for debt repayment. Consider the absurdity of this: The entirety of government revenue fails even to cover debt repayment!<<<

>>>Can Pakistan be fixed and put back on the track? The answer is yes. But doing so will need the sort of courage and daring that has been lacking in the past. <<

Given the current state of the country Imran Khan could get a significant sympathy vote which leads me to believe that he may not be allowed return to politics in the near future.

PTI announces public rally in Lahore on Oct 15
Former ruling party seeks permission to hold public gathering at Liberty Chowk from Lahore Deputy Commissioner
LAHORE:
As the nation gears up for the upcoming general elections, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Thursday requested permission from the district administration to hold a public gathering at Liberty Chowk in Lahore on October 15.

In a written application, the Central Punjab wing of the party approached the Lahore Deputy Commissioner to seek approval for the public gathering.

The objective of the gathering is to unveil the party's election strategy to the general public ahead of the general elections. The PTI has also pledged to adhere to all legal requirements for hosting the rally.

About time that IK faced a lengthy jail experience, even better that it is in deplorable conditions unlike the A class facilities previous politicians have enjoyed.

If he can survive this and come out of it unscathed, it will boost his credibility and appeal.

Also hope he uses this time to self introspect his various mistakes which have resulted him in being in the situation he is in and the fact 80-90% of the people who have deserted him.

They have turned IK into a hero by putting him in jail and PTI popularity has increased immensely. Another case of political mishap by people who should not be political.

I remember when nawaz was put in jail, there are pictures and videos of him crying with tears due to fear of his life. He really thought Mushy would have his head.

Here we have Imran who is usually smiling and laughing. I don’t know if it’s all true but the perception out there is he is brave and he wont turn and run like Sharifs do.

Those who had written his obituary when IK was put in jail are all proven WRONG thanks to what happened during the elections.
