Will it be fair on fast bowlers playing in UAE to be dropped for Mohammad Amir on overseas tours?

So Mohammed Amir is back for the tour of South Africa which means someone between Afridi and Hassan Ali has to be dropped for making room for Amir.

Will be it fair on other fast bowlers to use them on dead tracks of UAE while giving rest to Amir ( because his body cannot handle the demand of labour work in UAE ) while rolling a red carpet for his inclusion in bowling friendly conditions of South Africa?

Is that how it's supposed to be where the priority of management is to make conditions easier for Amir? The message is somewhat like " Dear Amir, we will make sure you only get to play on bowling friendly tracks of Sa, Australia, England and NZ while you will be rested for home tours to UAE where other bowlers will break their back on your behalf "

All the past legendary bowlers from Imran Khan to Wasim and from Waqar to Akhtar spent their full career bowling on pitches in Pakistan . What legacy will Amir have at the end of his career if he never plays most of the matches at home venue?

This is batting equivalent of bringing a FTB back into the side for Asian tours and resting him for overseas tours.

Amir is the Blue-eyed boy of PCB so he will continue to get privileges and treated as Royal Prince.

This is exactly my concern and last year a similar thread was made about the possibility of making Amir play only on supportive wickets. Its a pathetic approach and sends a bad message to hard working bowlers.

Unfortunately, Most fans have welcomed his preferential treatment with open arms.

Best fast bowler in Pakistan.

Stop hating.

You deserve Shinwari, Umar Gul, Junaid Khan and Cheema.

We will know if M Amir is worth resting in UAE and giving chance overseas. If he doesn't lead the bowling along with Abbas and doesn't perform in South Africa. He should be sent to domestic on permanent basis

For the first time in his career he gets a rest and these sort of threads come up, he won't be rested when Pakistan next plays in UAE. It was only because he was playing non stop cricket and deserved a break for his own good as well of Pakistan.

Why was Amir dropped from Tests in the first place, he had a bowling average of 18 this year and a batting average of 30 surely he didn't deserve to be dropped completely?

If you say he has a poor average in UAE then you yourself are saying that he shouldn't play in UAE, How can a bowler be dropped for bowling well whether it be bowling friendly conditions. He is better than any fast bowler in Pakistan outside of UAE except for maybe Abbas.

BTW, as per PP performers in domestic should be given a chance and he has performed brilliantly in QEA Trophy.

Amir had a pathetic tour of Australia and NZ in 2016/17 so there is no guarantee he will perform or deliver in South Africa right now. The problem is the hype and over rating he gets because of what he did on the tour of England in 2010 on the most bowling friendly wickets in England where even the then coach Waqar Younis even commented that he had never ever seen such green wickets in England consistently throughout a whole series and mind you even RP Singh looked like the second coming of Wasim for India in 2007 and helped India win a series in England.

Amir should play all test matches in UAE as well as outside and take rest during irrelevant T20 leagues.

Would fit into the bench perfectly. He can watch the superior bowlers playing and learn from them.

A cheat making a red carpet comeback is not shameful enough for the PCB. He now gets preferential treatment. Work horses like Abbas and Hasan slogged it out in the desert where as the golden boy is resting in an air-conditioned room. He gets to play in more favorable conditions of SA.

PATHETIC!!!!

Don't think he is interested in playing Test cricket. Its unfair for other bowlers to sit out for him.

Abbas, Hasan and Shaheen should be playing the 1st Test.

Hasan Ali has also been playing non stop cricket and even carrying some niggles. He still plays non stop without rest.

He doesn't have the same workload if you compare it with Amir.

He made his debut after 9 months of Amir's comeback, he has never been a permanent player in Tests up until now and has regularly missed matches on every tour. Bowling in LOIs for few overs is not that difficult comparing with five days of Test cricket.

BTW, he should also be given rest somewhere in between as he has regularly been carrying injuries while playing and could prove dangerous, god forbidding.

I don't understand this emotional line of thinking on PP .

Selection committee/team management's job is to play the best combination on a given tour. Question should be that who is more useful for us in SA conditions and UAE conditions ? If it is Amir and Hassan/Shaheen for respective conditions than so be it. These players are representing their country. This is no place for career counseling.

Can anyone post Amir’s stats in domestic since being dropped from the test side?

I really hope pak still selects afridi in the playing 11 along with Abbas. Very excited to see them play over seas

Thread makes it sound like Amir will do well in SA.

Bar that green mamba tour in England first up, he hasn't really done well anywhere - SENA or Asia.

Averages 18 in Tests this year. Batting avg 30.

Amazing stuff.

He's not only our best fast bowler, but a better batsman too than all our other bowlers.

Yup, he not playing is the reason why our tail is being termed weak. When he played he scored runs everywhere and made vital partnerships with top order batsmen overseas. Look at our tail now.

Thoughts on resting Yasir and going with a four pronged attack? Or even playing faheem. Horses for courses

Totally agree with the poster.

I think its too early for him...he needs more games in domestic cricket...4 games arent enough, at least 8 -10.

Having said that, selection committee's job is to make/create opportunities for Pakistan to win...if by selecting Amir helps that then be it.

Amir's inclusion for South African series is a no brainer even more so given Abbas's injury and lack of match practice. Amir was down on confidence and it was good to rest him for the UAE season and let him get the hunger back to perform. This may well be the turning point in his career and a good series here before the world cup will do wonders for team Pakistan. Its not bowling we should worry about, its the batting which is throwing away all the hard work done by bowlers and there is no solution to that given the squad selected.

Its right decision to bring back Aamer but selectors should have gone with 5 Frontline fast bowlers so Hamza should be preferred over Fahim.

Plus Shadab is not required in Tests, should have gone with someone who bowls left arm spin(Zafar, Asgar, Kashif, Raza etc).

Amir does well on this tour and he will be there for the long run - if he doesnt do well, I dont think he will have too many backers

implying pakistan wont start with abbas, shaheen, hasan ali and faheem.
amir is there to carry drinks.
maybe get a game if one of the above is injured.

Pakistan has missed Amir in test cricket. More then his wickets, we have missed his 25 odd runs batting at no.8.

India does same. Tells Umesh & Shami to do hard work in India and when you go out in swing/seam conditions bhuvi gets picked ahead of umesh. It depends sometime you go horses for courses.

Hamza Mir won't have any dome anything special in South Africa. Amir is a better bowler also. Hopefully the time away will have done him some good.
