He was sent out there to rotate the strike and not let in a collapse, not lessen the team score by a good 25 runs. Misbah did the same thing by batting, Islu NRR could have been much better had someone like Faheem came out and smashed it to the end.

No it didn't work, LQ lost 6 wickets in the last 4 overs, Ramdin's tuk tuk couldn't deter another collapse for LQ, instead it hurt them because this was an excellent pitch for batting and 200 was a possibility after they had a good start.

Maybe if McCullum had come in at number 4, they would've gotten a better total because he was hitting it well today.

Sarfraz was the only option. Guy scored a match-winning 49 against SA and a century against IRE. He had the previous experience and proven leadership with an U-19 WC win. Yet he was out of favor because an 80+ year old Chairman and 40 year old with a mindset of 30 years prior wanted a defensive captain to steer a new team. That would have worked had it been someone who played the format in the last 2 years!

That was the darkest period in PAK's LOI cricket. In NZ when AA substituted the 2nd Test in place of Misbah, there was a moment of Maximilian terror that he would be made Test captain.

When Sarfraz first showed signs of promise in 2014 against Sri Lanka, I was one of the few people who thought he had what it takes but a year in to being a regular in the side was too much to ask of PCB.

I will agree though, Azhar was on too long as a captain. The English series should have been the end of him.

It was a pathetic effort from Misbha. I had not followed all the matches and just checked the NRR. The NRR may not matter after all especially with MS and KK having one extra point due to wash out I am assuming (How did that really happen, rain in desert !!!). IU is quite ahead Karachi and quite behind MS and QG. Best way for them would be to win enough matches

He'd been thinking of retiring even before that but the PCB convinced him to stay on.

now that he's finally giving talat a chance up the order doesn't erase the fact that Misbah was a yes man captain all his life giving seniors a joy ride in the side, hugely glorified because of his overrated bating where any average cricketer can keep a healthy average with that abysmal strike rate.

And unsurprisingly people love to dodge the chucker elements that will forever plague his legacy, winning matches, series in South Africa, India, Asia cup, with the help of two chuckers, not to mention some of his test match wins supported by the chucker Ajmal.
