ISLAMABAD: Former president and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday said that his party will never support the presidential form of government.

Talking to the media after appearing at an accountability court in the fake bank accounts case, Zardari cited the government’s experimental ways as the reason behind the worsening conditions of the country.

During the hearing, the Islamabad accountability court issued a notice to Sindh chief secretary over failure to present suspects in the fake accounts case before the court.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Sherry Rehman on Monday demanded of the government to take parliament into confidence regarding the negotiations taking place with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for an intended bailout package.

Talking to reporters, the PPP leader said parliament should be informed about the talks and the conditions on which they had gone to Washington for signing the deal. She criticised the finance minister for leaving the country in haste.

Presidential system does not need his support. It needs the support of Pak people.

The people of Pakistan will decide whether to support it or not - not you!

Only in Pakistan this thief will be roaming around freely and giving statement against sitting government

It's 50:50 for me

Huge plus in country like Pakistan is that entire system of waderas, chauhdaries, Sardars will be done and dusted and ministers would be much more competent and honest.

Biggest disadvantage is dictator like president taking over ruining everything making things lot worse they are. Military can also control things more easily like this which is last thing we need.

What is also against Presidential system is fact that there are hardly any successful countries (except USA) with proper presidential system.

CM Murad confident Zardari to take oath as president

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has expressed confidence that PPP Chairman Asif Ali Zardari will take oath as the president within the next few weeks.

In a victory speech at the Sindh Assembly, he said there were just a handful of leaders in Pakistan who had a vision and they included Benazir Bhutto, Zardari and Bilawal.

“I urge you all to vote for him [Zardari] in the elections,” he said. CM Murad further stated that Bilawal will soon become the prime minister on the back of votes.

“It is only Bilawal who has given a way forward,” CM Murad said, promising that the former’s vision would be implemented to the extent of Sindh.

Whatever system we are going to implement, the decisions will be taken from someone else.

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) has yet to decide whether or not to vote for Asif Ali Zardari in the presidential election, since the Rabita Committee was dissolved without a final decision.

According to sources, after the dissolution of the Rabita Committee, the MQM-P’s negotiation committee comprising Convener Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Syed Mustafa Kamal and Dr Farooq Sattar has been empowered to make the decision.

“Now the three-member negotiation committee will decide on casting vote to Pakistan People’s Party’s Asif Ali Zardari in the presidential election,” sources privy to the development said.

The MQM-P’s negotiation committee is set to leave for Islamabad on Thursday to hold meeting with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). The sources said that in the meeting, matters related to the MQM-P’s joining to the federal cabinet, ministries would be finalised.

The sources added that the Rabita Committee was dissolved due to organisational irregularities and audio leaks. The number of members would also be reduced in the new Rabita Committee.

MQM-P announces to vote for Asif Ali Zardari in presidential election

Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) on Thursday announced to vote for the ruling coalition’s joint candidate Asif Ali Zardari in the presidential election.

This was announced by party’s convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui after a meeting with a delegation led by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in the federal capital.

“Thanks for coming. We are with you. We will support Zardari Sahab in the presidential election and will vote for him,” Siddiqui told reporters in joint-presser with Bilawal.

The meeting was held after a dinner hosted by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for coalition partners. He described MQM-P’s demands as genuine and urged them to vote for Zardari.

The PPP co-chairman would be up against Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party Chairman Mahmood Khan Achakzai on March 9, who enjoys the backing of the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC).

Siddiqui started his media talk by saying that his party has extended support in the past, citing that it was MQM-P that first proposed Zardari for president’s seat in 2013.

Bilawal thanked MQM-P for their support and added that both parties were interested in resolving the issues in Karachi.

He added that he was looking forward to the government’s focus on Karachi, Pakistan’s economic hub.
