Always knew that it won't be easy after the retirement of Misbah and Younis, but never expected to be on edge of losing to Sri Lanka of all teams.

Still remember the series where Pakistan was 1-0 down against SL, going into the final day and the record chase to level the series. Maybe it's time for a special effort again.

To ask these two guys to score above 2 RPO would be akin to me walking upto some random bloke in the street and asking for $2k. Given the current cirumstances, this will have to be the way to go if we are going to push for a chance of victory.

This record is deceiving, IMO Pakistan have been nowhere as impressive as Aus or India at home.

Pakistan have dropped Tests to NZ, SL and WI. These teams wouldn't have a hope in hell in Aus or India.

The nature of pitches in the UAE allows Pakistan to easily walk out of series with at least a draw as they only really need one win to draw a series. Pakistan from what I've noticed only play 2 or 3 match series in the UAE so if you win one, you either win the series by winning another Test or draw it if the opposition snaps up one of the other two.

Still a long way to go, Pakistan still come back and take this Test. It's not like this record was that flattering, although there was a period where you were incredible in the UAE. You would pile up the runs with the loss of 2 or 3 wickets and then roll the opposition over.

SL understand importance of maximising score in 1st inn. 50 extra runs in 1st inn is almost equivalent to 100 runs on day 4 and 5.

They were playing freely, but since this pair had responsibility to get them to 400+ score, they are cautious. If they manage to bat till tea tommorrow they will almost save the match and look to attack with ball.

A draw seems to be the most likely result, looking at the way SL are playing. However if the pitch turns or turns a lot more in the second innings then Herath will wreak havoc again, he might just be the difference between a potential draw & SL win.
