Will Pakistan's good performance against England put extra pressure on India?

I guess we are so used to India being blanked out there in England, it can be dismissed as an honest mistake :-)

Must have been a lottery win as well I guess

OK but how many series have Pakistan won recently in England let me guess oh yeah a grand total of zero, where as we won odi's their last tour in case you forgot. And we are so used to see Pakistan getting blanked in South Africa and Australia, which can't be even described as honest mistake.

India will have pressure regardless. Number one ranked teams are supposed to win series, whether home or away. They lost in South Africa, this will be a chance to prove the critics wrong. India's reputation might be intact on this forum, but when random journalists start bashing your captain in press conferences questioning your away record, you know you have to set the record straight.

Also, England will come at India with everything they've got. The backlash from the media has been fierce and there is enough quality in their line-up to cause India severe difficulties. Interesting series.

Australia:

India has five victories and Pakistan has three. Neither has won a series yet.

South Africa:

India has won three and Pakistan has won two with a tour coming up this year.

So it’s pretty even because India just had their most recent victory this year while Pakistan have yet to tour.

Neither has won a series yet.

England:

India has seven victories and 2 series wins (1972 and 2007) and Pakistan has 12 victories (with 1 match remaining on the current tour) and 3 series wins.

To be fair to India, Pakistan is touring while India is yet to tour so 11 victories as compared to 7.

So the head to head record in SA is not dissimilar.

While IND has performed better in AUS and PAK in ENG.

Let’s look at Munro’s scores in the PAK tour.

58 (35), 0 (2), 8 (4), 56 (42), 34 (24) in the ODI series.

156 runs at an average of 31.2.

49 (43), 1 (2) in the T20 series.

50 runs at an average of 25.

So if that is you’re definition of “destroyed” you need to raise your expectations.

And it’s Munro not Monroe.

You deliberately missed out the strike rate. :) impact of those three innings where he scored quickly was one of the reasons NZ thrashed your team 5-0 in that series.

Also read the post that I was responding to, he was talking about Watson and his innings in finals. Moreover I was only giving example. I can dig and find out players who scored heavily against Pak but failed in IPL to prove IPL bowlers are better.

His SR is great but he only scored on average about 31 runs which, as an opener, is not worthy of “thrashed” status.

The reason we lost the NZ series was more due to the poor batting than the poor bowing.

We restricted NZ to under 300 two out of the three times they batted first.

Not to mention, the last time IND toured NZ, they were also hammered 4-0 and let NZ score 300 twice out of the four times they batted first.

Aren't you the same guy who was making fun of PSL because Ronchi was the top scorer. Well your ipl had Shane Watson a retired player dominating the tournament when he couldn't really score too much in PSL. Syed1 babajee Usman Chadda.....Look at this genius.
Players who failed in PSL scored well in ipl. Perhaps they take ipl seriously knowing it is gonna pay in long run if they keep getting contracts. PSL they treat as bonus money along the way not knowing it league itself may exist next year considering the profit margin of whole tournament was less than the pay of even some ipl coaches. Now there will be lots of poison darts shot at me...but facts will stay facts😎

More likely the quality is so low in ipl that everyone scores runs :)

I was talking about the series win across the format in these countries in last 10 years .

India are the number one ranked team, they have nothing to prove. Pakistan appears to have the wood over England for some reason, looks like we are their bogey team.

However, this series is a glorified warmup for England and if they beat India, this loss against Pakistan will be quickly forgotten.

India has never beaten England in England for a full series, means 4/5 tests. I doubt they can do this time. No 1 ranking is less important, than achieving major milestone. Pakistan has done than twice I believe, and drew last time.

This is the first time since 1995, England lost s test in May, not a small achievement. The way we did it, surprised us the fans the most. I was at Lords, it was great feeling 👻👻👻

Why 10, why not 15, why not 20 years; you do know India visits England more often which should translate (in a normal world) in to better performances yet overall record wise they lag far behind Pakistan in terms of tests won and series wins as well; I can bet India has played at least 10-15 tests more than Pak overall and yet their record is not superior...although we are the ones with the 'fragile batting lineups!'

Maybe BCCI money can be brought in to the discussion to make it more interesting for you and all other Indian fans :-)

In India's entire test cricketing history going back to 1932, they have won a miserable 6 tests in England. I don't think anything Pakistan is doing will add more/less pressure on India, no one should expect anything from them in the first place.

Correction:

IND also won a series in 1986 2-0.

So it is tied with PAK for Series Wins in ENG.

Is England the only benchmark of performance and by that logic India did well in 1986 winning 2-0.

Childish excuse that we play more. Just compare no of games played by both teams in England, it’s pretty similar.

In Australia, your team getting blanked after blanked for the 4 to 5 series, adding two more series would have made your team to win a series? Pls come back with better excuse.

Good you corrected it. Now your last line of your original post and conclusion should also change. Isn’t it? Both India and Pakistan have won same number of series in eng.
