PCB is planning to shake things up by having two head coaches, one for red ball cricket and one for white ball cricket. That's a pretty big change from the usual setup.

Now, having two coaches could be a game-changer in a few ways. For starters, it means each coach can really focus on their area, whether it's red ball or white ball cricket. That could mean better coaching tailored to what the players really need. Plus, it might take some pressure off each coach, letting them really dive deep into their format.

But, of course, there are some potential downsides too. Like, having two separate setups might mean the coaches aren't always on the same page. And communication between them might not be as smooth, which could confuse the players.

Other teams have tried this out before, like England. They've had different coaches for their Test (red ball) and limited-overs (white ball) teams. It worked out okay for them, but it did have its challenges in keeping things consistent, as shown by England's failure in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 and their recent loss in the five-test series against India in India.

Overall, it's a pretty bold move by the PCB. It'll be interesting to see how it all plays out and whether it helps Pakistan cricket step up its game. What do you think about this move?

Well you can pick one Misbah to solve all problems

“One Misbah to rule them all

One Misbah to find them

One Misbah to bring them all

And in darkness, bind them”

I almost want Misbah back as coach with Babar as captain just to see how much burn it causes to a few posters. They will get roasted like Gollum in Mount Doom’s Lava.

If the players start taking their fitness seriously then any coaching set up would work.

Hope they hire a good fielding coach.

I'm cool with it.

Red ball and white ball are 2 different formats.

But what matters is if the coaches are competent.

If we get 2 donuts as coaches then Allah hafiz.

Dav Whatmore and Mickey Arthur put in good work few years back which led to the CT17 win and emergence of Babar and Rizwan. Lets not count Arthur's recent stint as zoom coach.

Since then its been a disaster in Tests and ODI. We still don't have a replacement for Misbah and Younis Khan.

Pakistan cricket is in shambles.

Babar isn't going to fix it, neither will imad, nor Amir or rizwan or any coach atm.

We are current an entire decade behind the top teams now.

T20, wc and CT, we ain't winning anyone of em

Unfortunately, fielding, batting, and bowling coaches never get the limelight. In my perspective, they are actually responsible for players' individual performance.

Well, in my opinion, if they are actually considering having two coaches, then there should be one coach for Tests and ODIs because Tests and ODIs are strategically similar. So, for this, they need a specialist cricketer from the 1990s and 2000's era with lots of experience playing first-class and List A cricket. They can have a separate coach for T20Is because that is an entirely different format, and for this, they can hire any modern day franchise cricketer as a coach.

Dav Whatmore did some splendid job for our Test cricket. I really miss those days. I remember I was crazy about watching a complete day of Test cricket.

Babar, Imad, and Amir have nothing to do with the system. They are not the system, they are just small molecules within the system. The main architects of the Pakistan Cricket Team are the chairman and after that the head coach.

I know, I'm making a response mostly towards many members of PP, who have formed a babar cult or an imad cult when in reality babar and imad are cool with each other now and so is Amir,

It'd clear whatever beef they had, it's settled. Regardless these 3 aren't going to fix a broken system, and neither is whatever chairman or Head coach we appoint.

To only way to fix the system is somehow Find a leader like Jinnah and fix the entire country. But sadly we've never had a leader close to Jinnah, so moot point.

I agree

One white ball coach and one red ball coach.

Babar as captain.

And Misbah to be director over both the coaches.

And to bring home the trophy.

My name is Jeff Bezos and I am a billionaire.

This strategy won't work. Neither of the two coaches will click with the squad.

Just stick to one. The PCB is a dumb board with some money that they don't know what to do with.

Can you ship me some ring cameras Mr bezos, I need a camera record the humiliation we're about to receive.

This kind of thing never works in Pakistan. Stick to one and by one I mean actually, a good one, an experienced one, and a qualified one. Not some bloke who retired from the game 1 year ago.

So it's going to be Gary Kirsten for ODIs, T20s and Jason Gillespie for test matches

From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring,
Renewed shall be bat that was broken,
The Misbah shall again be 👑

It can work but only if the coaches have a working relationship and the board MUST step in to prioritize series....I e the board must decide if it's better for a player to rest for a test match to be available for an ODI series as the coaches will always want the best available side.

A batting coach rarely looks at the technical aspect they are thier for more the mental side (confidence, motivation)

Pakistan need Ravi Shastri as coach. He has the man management skills and will be able to connect with the culture better as well.

If he could get Natarajan, Shardul and Washington to win a Test series in Australia, imagine what he could do with Pakistan 's naturally gifted players .

Was it right to first approach foreign coaches and then advertise the vacant positions?

I think Shan Masood is walking on ice, he wont get enough time to prove himself and he can’t bat either. With Babar getting the captaincy back in other forms, it adds more pressure on him

So far they're struggling to even get one coach how will they get two and then their separate coaching teams

One month with the PCB and Ravi will run away faster than a tracer bullet

So we now have 2 different coaches for different formats but one thing remains the same and that is Azhar Mehmood as an assistant coach for both formats.

Will this setting work now?

This is the best coaching team in world cricket today.

The big question is can the players cope with what's expected of the. Kirsten, Gillespie and genuine lovers of the game, on the other hand players are increasingly finding it far more comfortable under the refuge of being T20 league cricketers and part time international short format players. The coaches will ask them to throw selfishness and egos outside the window, but that's going to be hard for the players.

Kirsten and gilliespie agreed because of 2 separate coaching of formats ,this way they don't have to stay and follow year around pakistan team
