The Spanish giants payed a massive fee for the Liverpool star, who was in fantastic form prior to his move.

Will their investment pay off, and do you think Coutinho will be able to live up to the hype for Barcelona?

Yes. Think he'll settle well in Spain and a lot of his goals are screamers. Nothing to do with physicality of league etc, some of his goals are unstoppable in any league

He is one of the best footballers on the planet and playing alongside Messi and Suarez he will create and score many goals for Barca for the next 5-8 years.

He will do well like Suarez but they greatly overpaid for him. Real Madrid were willing to pay £177 million according to sources. Couts only wanted to join Barca.

No, he's not that great. They paid twice his actual worth, it's insane. He will be good for them, but not world class. His style suits Spanish league more.

Philippe Coutinho transfer latest: Barcelona make key 'decision' after El Clasico performance

Coutinho was signed for £142million last January but has struggled to assert himself at the Camp Nou

Barcelona are losing patience with Brazil star Philippe Coutinho following another sub-par performance against Real Madrid , according to reports in Spain.

Coutinho moved to Barcelona from Liverpool for £142million last January as the Catalan club attempted to ease the playmaking burden on Lionel Messi following the departure of Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain.

But the Brazil international's form has dipped alarmingly since last summer's World Cup in Russia and he has scored just four goals in 20 La Liga appearances this season.

He lasted just 63 minutes against Real at the Camp Nou on Wednesday as he was replaced by Messi during the 1-1 Copa Del Rey semi-final draw.

And according to Spanish sports daily Marca , the sub-par showing was enough to convince Barcelona bosses that they should listen to offers for Coutinho in the summer.

Wednesday night's Clasico had been seen as an opportunity for Coutinho to prove his worth given that Ousmane Dembele is injured and Messi was fit enough only for a place on the bench.

However, his performance was branded "unjustifiable" by Catalan daily Sport and it seems that the former Liverpool star faces a battle to save his Camp Nou career.

Coutinho has been linked with a return to the Premier League, with Manchester United one of the clubs reportedly interested in signing him.

Chelsea are also said to be keeping tabs on the situation but Barcelona would want to recoup the majority of the club record fee they splashed out on him were they to sell.

Barcelona have already completed the signing of Ajax midfielder Frenkie De Jong ahead of next season, meaning competition for places at the Camp Nou will only increase for Coutinho should he stay beyond this season.

Coutinho is very good player but was worth around £50mn and because of the incredible expectations is struggling.

Barca fan here who has watched every match he has played and I can for a certainty say he wont.

Basically his position of an attacking midfielder does not exist in the Barca system.

He has been tried as a central midfielder and as a forward and failed terribly at both.

Barca need to cut their losses and sell him ASAP.
