David Warner had consistently been Australia's best opener since Gilchrist and I'd argue he's superior to Gilchrist as a white ball batter.
Warner throughout his career had played 161 odi matches averaging a stunning 45 and a strike rate of 97 making him one of Australia most aggressive and consistent openers of all time. He boasts similar numbers in red ball and t20 boasting 44 avg and 70 sr in red ball and 33 avg and 142 sr in t20.
He is amoung the few notable batsmen over the years to score a century in all 3 formats of the game including 49 international 100's in total.
But with that being said
Now that Warner has retired, will Australia find a solid opener to take up the mantle?
So far we have Travis head another left hand explosive opener and granted he is more impactful and aggressive then Warner, He doesn't quite reach prime Warner levels in t20 and Especially the test format. In odi Travis head seems to be catching up as a batter in terms of impact but in terms of statistics he falls well short of Warner in every metric excluding Strike Rate.
Jake Fraser is another candidate who hasn't been impressive in the stats department but has shown insane promise and unlike Travis Head who is now 30, Jake fraser mcgurk is only 22 and has age on his side.
