Swedish company creates under-the-skin microchip to carry Covid passports in user's arms

Swedish startup Epicenter has created an under-the-skin microchip to carry Covid passports in the user’s arms.

At the beginning of December, Sweden enacted new rules requiring individuals to have a passport at all events with more than 100 people.

Following that announcement, the number of people who got microchips inserted under their skin rose: around 6,000 people in Sweden have so far had a chip inserted in their hands.

If you're vaccinated and your nation brings in these chips(I think they will soon enough) will you use under the skin technology for your vaccine passports?

Tough decision but so far no unless someone on here can convince me otherwise?

Since it's a foreign object, I'll be concerned about sepsis. Unless it is unavoidable, I don't prefer introducing foriegn objects inside the body as "ïmplements."

It's very easy to carry the documents.
 
Utter madness but at this point I won't be surprised if there are people willing to get this done.
 
people will accept it in the end, when credit cards came onto the scene people refused to use them because they wanted to have their money in their pocket and didn't trust cards but over time the convenience kicked in and now people use cards all the time. Same thing will happen here.
 
No, never. My body my rules. In times of hardship the bold rise up. This Covid passport will surely have the one eyed satanic logo on it.

We’re going to be forced to get microchipped. It’s unavoidable.

You won’t be able to travel. Your job will make it a requirement. They’ll stop you from using the NHS service. You won’t be allowed to enter certain places (shopping malls, mosques, uni/college).

It’s all too predictable.
 
No, that’s a step too far. “They” can track my phone, but at least I can switch it off.
 
This is an interesting invention.

Carrying usb is hectic, if the chip has good amounts of tetrabytes and the files can be viewed and added wirelessly would ve an interesting invention
 
There was a dude in Sydney Australia who bio-hacked the Opal Card(used in Sydney to pay for Bus and Train Travel) into his hand for convenience, as he used to forget the card.
Australia being a super nanny state fined him back then as he broke some terms of service and damaging the card.
So, I believe there will be quiet a few people who will be okay with this.

Meow-Ludo Disco Gamma Meow-Meow, 33, surgically implanted an Opal Card chip into his hand last year, so that he could swipe on and off without using a card.

He was fined $220 for breaching the Opal Card terms of use and was ordered to pay $1,000 in legal costs.

I absolutely don't want any stupid microchip underneath my skin.

I can carry a manual paper. No problem with that.
 
What's the point, how often do you attend somewhere where you'd need a covid pass without your phone?

Do you think anytime in the relatively near future we're going to move away from the vast majority of people having some kind of (non-implanted) personal device on them?

Added to that these are just NFC chips with a link on them, you quite literally need a mobile phone to check it which makes it even more bizarre. It's pretty much having a bookmark saved in your arm rather than just bookmarking it on your browser...

I think microchips like these can make life a helluva lot easier. Imagine not having to carry your identification documents, licenses - just one scan and boom, everything is available.

It should of course not be mandated though, pretty sure once people see how easy it makes life, they'll come to it.

People who are afraid about being tracked and what not, lol, smartphone, smart tv, smart what nots? You're already being tracked and surveilled 24x7, so might as well adopt a technology that makes your lives easier.

Anything is possible, when I bought my first computer the salesman told that my 40mb hard drive would hold more than I would ever need.
 
Having said all this I think Gen Z will want intradermal chips as fashion accessories. Save them lugging phones around.

By 2100 we will all be cyborgs.

I agree.

Two years ago when it was suggested these chips would carry your vaccine passport it was laughed at.

Swedes esp students are happy with this tech. Paper money is also on the way out. You can pay at shops and even enter your house without a key.

I think those who are quick to be vaccinated will eventually accept this. Not everyone has a smart phone, esp the elderly. They will want their freedoms so will have little choice if the governments demand you have this to travel, shop, enjoy a night out etc.

I predict Australia, Germany and France to be the first nations to make this mandatory in the near future.

There are plenty of alternative options available to the ever reducing minority of people who don't own smart phones though that don't require the chip to be put into your body. Print out the document, write down the link to it, chuck a tag in your wallet when you need it or stitch it into your clothing for 1% of the price.

Sure for now. But you cannot say with certainty in a few years these chips will be mandated for the vaccinated. Remember keep others safe.

If this happens(mandate), will you then have this inserted into your arm?

What on earth would be the benefit of making these mandatory and how would it keep anyone any safer than the current system?
 
On one side many experts are saying Covid will probably be seen as just another winter flue, maybe already by end of this year, and on the other side the pharmacy companies keep competing with each other on innovative solutions to earn big money.

And in many countries they have started vaccinating kids down to 5-6 years old. Don't know where this will end.

Not everyone has a smart phone. Also if they do battery can die, as we have seen with passports in clubs /stadiums in the UK. Elderly dont have such phones. You can also lose paper passports.

Please answer the question. IF they become mandatory, will you then have one implanted, yes or no will do? Thanks

Its not going to end in the next few years at the minimum and may never end. Imo the reason its clear most will follow what governments tell them to do. So why not introduce a new system which later can also be used to track you, exactly where you are , what you spend money on, who you meet etc.

Well, do you have any choice if this is mandatory for travelling? Either you travel or you stay home. As easy as that.

Thankfully there are nations which will allow you to enter without vaccinations and this will continue. The whole world isnt stupid enough to destroy their tourism industry because of this virus. If they stop you leaving the country , I will find a way out and move. You may as well be living in an open prison if this is the case but the UK still has more freedoms than most. Reason, people here dont like taking orders or being forced to do anything. See the video I posted of the Dr schooling the current health sec in the vaccine thread.

That doesn't answer how it would keep anyone safer than the current system (and hence why the government would mandate it) and I've already detailed the wide amount of alternative options available for storing the passport.

It's a hypothetical situation that will never happen. In a hypothetical world where it did happen I'd have to look at the reasons as to why it had and more specific details about it before coming to a decision.

You need to speak to the Swedes or those with chips in their arms. Or pehaps those who designed/invented etc.

But Dsruptive Subdermals has come under fire from critics, some of who have described the devices as 'invasive', reports the Express.

Hannes Sjoblad, managing director of Dsruptive Subdermals, has now fired back, saying the technology is here to stay.

The people charging €100 to put a NFC tag in your arm (that you could get for pennies online to put somewhere not in your body) are praising it? I'm shocked.

There's also the fact that this would need widespread adoption to even be of any use to those odd individuals who somehow always forget their phone and also can't not lose their paper copy in a matter of minutes... Walk up to someone checking covid passports at a venue and ask them to scan your microchip with their personal phone and follow the link it provides them and most are going to tell you to come back with your passport or get lost...

The microchip implants that let you pay with your hand

A microchip was first implanted into a human back in 1998, but it is only during the past decade that the technology has been available commercially.

And when it comes to implantable payment chips, British-Polish firm, Walletmor, says that last year it became the first company to offer them for sale.

"The implant can be used to pay for a drink on the beach in Rio, a coffee in New York, a haircut in Paris - or at your local grocery store," says founder and chief executive Wojtek Paprota. "It can be used wherever contactless payments are accepted."

Walletmor's chip, which weighs less than a gram and is little bigger than a grain of rice, is comprised of a tiny microchip and an antenna encased in a biopolymer - a naturally sourced material, similar to plastic.

Mr Paprota adds that it is entirely safe, has regulatory approval, works immediately after being implanted, and will stay firmly in place. It also does not require a battery, or other power source. The firm says it has now sold more than 500 of the chips.

Tony Blair and Lord Hague have joined forces to urge the government to roll out "digital ID" as part of a "fundamental reshaping of the state around technology".

Their plan would involve a new ID incorporating details such as a passport, driving licence, tax records, qualifications and right-to-work status which could be stored on a mobile phone.

The former political rivals said the challenge of adapting to the new technological revolution meant putting party differences to one side.

No way. This is extreme slavery. Eventually they will force us to take chips that ends all our privacy.
