Abbas is like Glenn McGrath and Yasir Shah is like Shane Warne.
These two guys can help us win the Test Series in South Africa.

Pakistan's Batting is not as weak as was the case in 2013 Away Tour. Azhar Ali, Asad Shafique are in good touch, combined with aggression of Zaman and Hafeez in batting department (or Imam's delicate innings, in case Hafeez is not there). Sarfaraz is back in the form, Haris Sohail can bat for longer periods as well.

Our Tail is slightly weaker but Yasir Shah can score quick 20-30 runs.

South Africa is without AB De Villiers, as long as our batsmen can put par scores of 280-300 in South Africa, there is no reason why Pakistan can not win Away Test Series against Proteas.

South Africa was recently whitewashed by Sri lankans in Sri Lanka. Yes they have steyn, rabada and Philander, but our bowlers can exploit their weaker batting a bit more.

I am tipping Pakistan to become the First Asian Team to win Test Series in South Africa. 1-2.

PAK couldn't win the series in 2007 with Asif, Akhtar, and Kaneria.

It's always the batting that fails to step up.

Lol Yasir? He has been a dud for 2 years. Expect him to get thrashed like no tomorrow in SA. I expect figures of 1-150 , 0-110 etc from him on that tour.

Would be pleasantly surprised if anything contrary happens.

It will be 3-0 to South Africa. Save your energy.

The batting is too weak to win the series but a win in one match is a possibility.
The openers will do well to last more than 10 overs the middle to lower order holds the key overall SA should be too strong however 2-1 is a possibility.

Haris Sohail and Babar Azam will be key. Quality players of pace and bounce.

Need 2 firing pacers along with Abbas. 2 from Amir, Hamza, Sadaf and Hasan. Not much hope from Yasir. He has looked below average against Aus in UAE.

Yasir Shah's purple patch is over.

Besides, he was only good on a broken 4th innings pitch. No such pitches outside Asia!

Our bowling will be alright but with this batting line-up we won't stand a chance vs SA pacers.

A phainta is coming fellas!

Yasir has been in poor form. Can't bank on him for this series. Need Abbas to keep on going. I hope Hasan Ali and Shaheen start the series. Would be a very balanced attack.

Hardly giving themselves any preparation time. Hard to see Pak winning the series but they have the ability to nick a match especially if they bowl first on a green pitch. Contrary to what many believe, Pakistan best chance of winning is actually on a green pitch.

Have a feeling that Pakistan will win the series 2-1.

I have a feeling Pak will not take any loans, especially IMF and I'll choose to not live if Pak does take any loans.

disagree. Unlike India of the old, your best chance is on a flattish pitch.

With a lineup of Abbas, Hasan Ali, Shaheen and helped by Shadab Khan, you have a line up that can get 20 wickets on flat pitches as well. But your batting can only play on flat pitches. The like MoHa and co will get blown away on a green pitch. But they will score runs on a flat pitch.

At least we will be competitive. The saffer batting looks vulnerable with an ageing middle order and no ABD. Their bowling as always will be good but Rabada is due for a quiet series. We have about the 30% chance.

Abbas is bound to do well in South Africa at that time of year and that should win us one match at least but a series win doesn't look in sight, if only Yasir had more brains

Batting and it will keep depending on our batting. Can we even score 250 on those tracks? Doubt it.

We have had better bowling attacks visiting SA.

Abbas and Yasir shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath. Abbas has performed consistently well since his introduction, Yasir has probably lost more matches than he has won. I don't know if South Africans play leg spin really badly, but I would think even if they don't play it well, they could probably wait for Yasir's many rubbish deliveries and punish those.

Pakistan's best chance is in Durban, where subcontinent teams have always been competitive. Winning there is possible but dont think Pakistan can win the series.

We will have to bat in SA too. I will be happy if we make 250 plus scores with this batting line up in SA

I think pretty much all the batsman except Fakhar will struggle. If the batting can make 300+ scores than there is some hope.

2-1 to either team, in my estimation. Pakistan can certainly win this series. An attack consisting of

Abbas
Amir
Hamza/Junaid
Shah

Plus, Haris as the part-timer is an attack that can demolish the South African batting.

Lol lol lol barbar azam the guy who averaged 25 is key lol lol lol

Pakistan's bowlers will challenge the host's batsmen but Pakistan's batting is a worry on South African pitches.

Even the most experienced guys will find it tough.

We got close however.

I believe we were 4 wickets away from winning our first Test series in SAF in 2007

More worried about how the batting will stand up. Time and again we've been all at sea against South African seamers in their backyard.

South Africa's batting is not as strong as it once was so maybe we have a chance in a low scoring shootout.

Lol lol lol barbar azam the guy who averaged 25 is key lol lol lol

Did well in Nz and Eng. Pretty good player of fast bowling.
I even believe he will do better than all the 'legends' of past like Yousuf, Inzamam, Younis etc in SA against fast bowling.

In addition to our batting always being susceptible on SA pitches, we don’t hawks any good bowler except Abbas. The test series that Pak lost 1-2 to SA when Asif was on fire could have been won 2-1 had a bowler stood up to partner Asif.

This time around too we only have Abbas. Judgement is still out on Mir Hamza, Hassan Ali is not a test bowler yet and Amir is , well, not good enough. Yasir gives away 100+ runs every time in first innings with 1-2 wickets to show for it.

Pak’s best chance in bowling is to make Junaid open with Abbas and then rely on Amir to do a holding sort of job. It probably makes sense to take someone like Kashif Bhatti as your frontline spinner who is in better form than Yasir. But still, two bowlers namely Abbas and Junaid won’t win your the series when opposition has Philander, Rabada and Ngidi.

well, this is a better overall side than last time and they seem to have less of the outside offstump issues, which mostly were the cause of batting collapses last time.

0-3 is a very likely score but not the writing on a wall. As unpredictable Pak is, it is a headache for Pak fans and its opponents. As we all know that batting is the key. We must do reasonably well in batting. I can only see us winning a game if we defend a reasonable target of 150 plus. If we are chasing in 2nd inning, we can make a mountain out of even a 50 + score. We have organized only one Warm up game. If that washed out (or most of it), we won't even get to have much match practice.

If we look at positives for the first test, Pakistan won't be facing what they faced back 6-7 years ago at centurion - Steyn is not as big force any more and is very injury prone now. If Steyn plays and can't finish the game, viola then. De Villier is retired. Hopefully, no Hafeez. Our bowling is far more penetrative than what we had in Irfan, Rahat, and Adil. If we can some how catch breaks and put a reasonable score to defend and gain some momentum, we have the CAPABILITY to UPSET SA in some games.
