With the advent of T20 and T10 leagues, will this garner more interest from non-playing countries?

Not sure if this would belong in time pass or here. Please move it if it does.

So lets face it unless big countries like US, russia or China starts taking interest in cricket, its a dying sport. Do we think that with more t-20 leagues and now t-10 starting to come out, will other non playing countries take notice ?
It may even show up in olympics and such ? I live in the US, and the one thing ive heard is that its similar to baseball, and often even mocked with comments like "isn't cricket a game where they have tea brakes in between and goes on for days" If big countried adopt t-20 or t-10 leagues or if olympics adopting the lesser format game, it might catch on ??

No use gaining interest from China/US etc..not going to work.Even after these many years Cricket not able to attract any country outside commonwealth to play semi decently.Only country i can remember which came close is Netherlands but it also regressed now.

Quite a few players taking part in the T10 league have mentioned the aspect of cricket in the Olympics and I think that will be one of the main selling points for T10 if they can really bring in the crowds and garner interest.

Personally I think it's a bit too short and that's seems to be the general opinion on T10 but perhaps it will generate buzz for more casual fans or people who aren't much into cricket otherwise.

I'm just hoping T10 is just as relevant as 5-a-side football, I doubt cricket will ever die as Test cricket is here to stay.

First of all it's absolutely absurd to say it's dying unless Russia or China take interest. Sub-continent alone is 2 billion people and cricket is the biggest sport here. So it's not dying anytime soon. In fact, IPL got a billion dollar deal for a league that runs only 2 months an year, so that tells u the level of interest in cricket.

But yes, if it's introduced in Olympics, T20 will become a GIGANTIC sport, because it's obviously exciting (baseball is exciting for a reason).

Yeah T20 hits the right timing window. It takes about 2 to 3 hours including breaks, and that's about the length people want to see. It's the sweet spot. Not some infinite reduction until F5 or O1. It's about the length of a long movie, or baseball game etc and that's approximately what is needed for a top mainstream sport.

And the idea that it isn't long enough for a real contest is complete nonsense.
