The just concluded Border Gavaskar Trophy was eye opener in how demanding a high profile 4 test series between two top teams can be.

Bowlers don't get rest, and by the end of it, champion stallions turn into donkeys. Just look at the Aussie pace trio.

And yet, BCCI have agreed to a schedule where Team India would play a 4 test series in Australia, followed immediately by a 5 test series at home. A 9 test series for all intents and purposes.

Is this the series where Bumrah would have his career ending injury? Shami would drop out midway through the series. I can forsee Ishant trundling his short and wide variety at 120k by the time England series comes. Would Ashwin last? Unlikely.

Even the batsmen would be in clear danger of fatigue. The only way out is for India to prepare pitches that rag from day one for visiting England team. Even so, my fear is we have handed England another excellent opportunity to ambush us at home.

Just for record, India tour Australia for a 4 test series in December 2020. The series concludes in January. The 5 test series against England would commence in last week of January. Crazy.

Stupid schedule.

Why are we touring Australia again next year, it's their turn to come to India. And why has the Oct-Dec slot of England shifted to Jan-Mar? 9 consecutive tests is crazy overkill, half the team got injured before Australia's last visit in 2017 (due to packed 2016 home season). Does BCCI draw lots to decide our fixtures? Do they not learn from the past or bother to protect the health/fatigue of players? And 4 year gap is a must, otherwise teams and fans will grow sick of each other. We tour Ausralia in 20 months time while they will next come to India after almost a 6 year gap. We tour England again after 3 years gap, what the hell?

I would have loved to see regular tours to NZ, our history there reads: 2002 (2 tests), 2009 (3 tests), 2014 (2 tests), 2020 (2 tests), ridiculous !!!!

lol.. You should see the amount of LOIs we play in next two years. I think, in 2019, India is going to play WI in 6 ODIs and 6 T20s. No wonder, many Indian fans are losing interest with such cheap schedule.

This has become the norm nowadays. Anyone remember the 2016 home season for India? 13 tests on the trot with some white ball cricket in between . That too against NZ/ENG/OZ and 1 against BD. Scheduling has affected our players and their workloads have led to injuries, fatigue etc. And all of it has to include IPL etc.

We need to develop an entire squad of bowlers to adjust to our demanding schedule across both formats.

As for the batsmen, we should try and get one or two more Pujara types who play solely tests and little else.

It's the only way forward .

The shouldn't play the top bowlers (especially pacers like Bumrah, Shami and Bhuvi) in the ODIs. There are enough other bowlers like Mavi and Nagarkoti waiting to be tried out.
