I selected two and I think Julian Millichamp and Andrew Kember are best batmakers in the world.

I rate Kember over Keeley and Laver too!

Kember is very very under-rated

There is no "one" best, not every bat someone produces will be better than every other bat.

It comes down to whether you are getting a top bat. If you have one be happy with it.

To gauge an answer to this question, perhaps we need to know who makes bats for the superstars of the game. I know JM made for 27 out of the top 30 at one point. Keeley bats are used by the little master amongst others. Sri Lankans use JL alot. So there's no clear cut winner IMO

i think it's a bit hard to judge if you haven't used them all. of all the brands i've used, TK is the best so far. but my BAS is a close second.....dont think you can discount indian bat makers

Master bat maker at SS(sareen sports) is the worlds best pod shaver. :sachin

i agree that india has some of the best. problem is that it is hard to find/buy good ones as easily as compared to English brands. If Indian companies had the same sort of glitzy websites, better looking stickers, i doubt people would know the difference.

Okay so who do you think is worlds best batmaker?

I have added a poll too.

Very tough question ... and especially for me as I have very limited experience with various bats or bat makers

But based on my latest bat (Scat) & brands used by me so far I have rated JM as top one :)

Like who, Sangakarra, Jayawerdene?

Definitely Jayasuriya and not sure who now but have heard the SL players use his bats.

I always thought Jayawerdene used a Newbery/TK bat, have a look it looks a lot like TKish.

Sangakarra have this TON stamp plus his handles have two strips.

Do you know which Pakistani players used Julians bats? I know Imran Khan did...

Sanga uses pure TON bats with markers on the side; but I have seen him use a non-TON sometimes---- interesting!

I remember in one interview it was asked by Sangakarra which grade bat he uses and he said Grade 7 :))

If you are as talented as Sanga grade will not matter; for less talented players like us, we need all the help we need :26:

I like the look of jayawerdenes bat

I know eh;

You didn't get my point, the Grade he mentioned does not even exist.

I got your point bro; grade 7 if it had existed would have been super duper luper huper low -- right? I said that for talented players like Sanga even a grade 7 would have worked; for less talented blokes like me, we need all the help we need with the grade, sweetspot, handle, candle anything :)

Remember good old Inzi? He would just pick up any bat he got his hands on and would go and sleepwalk himself to a century; I also remember, Flintoff tearing apart the cellophane wrapper off his bat as he walked down the stairs on his way to the middle.

The bat helps; the more talented you have the less help you would need.

BTW, Mahela's bat is delectable.

Tennis players are often seen taking a racket out of a cellophane wrapping; sometimes they use this ‘new racket’ after each set or something ... in fact these rackets are not brand new, strings & balance are tuned according to player’s requirements by manufacturer. They are sealed/airtight in a special cellophane to tackle the humidity & temp variations ... apparently this special cellophane protection does wonders; this was explained by a tennis star during Wimbledon

I am not sure if there is a link there ... Flintoff taking a new bat out of cellophane which was tuned/knocked as per his requirements & then sealed? ... or just to control the humidity/temperature factor? … OR it’s just a marketing stunt done by label manufacturer of bat: (why couldn’t he remove the wrapping in the dressing room?) see our brand new bats out of the wrapping does wonders :D

You must have seen Tendulkar also knocking his new bat during last world cup; clearly most of the batsmen do care about their bats and they way they are made/prepared

I hardly doubt that any top batsman would not use high class bat; in this modern era & tough competition why would they not rely on top equipment or technology? And if only top bats/equipment would make you champion there would be loads of them around us … so its combination of skills & tools I would say :D
