Would India have won the 2019 World Cup semi final, if the match had not been stopped by rain?

I think if the semi final had not been stopped due to rain and had concluded in one day, then india would have won the semi final!
The reserve day gave the new zealanders time to regroup and re- plan.
Whereas, the indian team had a whole night for their batsman to wait to bat, and would have messed up their minds!

What do you guys think?

Sure. By same token India also had time to plan

It was much more cloudy yesterday, if anything, India should be happy they got to bat today.

Its different when batting compared to bowling!
Every batsman is nervous to start batting, and if you are made to wait a whole night, it will definetly mess your mind up!
Theres no way any of the indian batters had a good nights sleep, which in its self will cause below par performances!

Excellent question which is difficult to answer. India really should have chased it down.

Chasing would always be difficult in such conditions. Add to that the pressure of chasing and any team would struggle. I do not think rain played that important a role in that regards.

Batting at 3pm yesterday, would have been easier than batting at 11am today!

Another excellent thread. Keep it coming. You have a very interesting mind brother. Saurav Ganguly was saying yesterday that India would prefer to bat today (yesterday) rather than tomorrow as it will help the seamers more early in the morning. You have a very good cricketing brain. :imran

More then that it was the pressure of the semi final that did India.
Absolutely, and just imagine that pressure festering in the indian opening batsman's mind overnight!
I am sure that contributed to the openers getting out cheaply, as well as good deliveries from henry and boult!

Thank you brother!
You also have a great cricketing mind!
I agree with ganguly 100%!

Maybe. But 240 runs should have been chased down regardless.

Rules are the same for every team so no point pondering over this now.

NZ had the runs on the board that was the crucial factor. It was great to see Indian pride or arrogance being walked on all over today. Meri toh aaj hi Eid agayi!! India you are out!!!:moyo2

India failed to chase 240 even after strengthening their batting as much they can.

They went with 7 batsmen, Jadeja at 8 and Bhuvi at 9. We have ourselves to blame for all this.

Rain and all are non-sense.

You know your team has become minnows when your biggest joy in a tournament is when some other team loses.

Reminds me of how Mushfiqur celebrated when India lost the 2016 T20WC semi final.

Congratulations you have now come down the level of Bangladesh! :asif

I don't think so. New Zealand are as good as any team in the world when the ball swings. No wonder they are ranked third.

I respect your view and you have alot of pride sir!
But i believe rain has messed up alot of teams in this wc - india and pakistan the most!

I can tell you that India fans were also celebrating when Pak were eliminated so you must also be minnows as well:moyo2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yas6xG2G8E4 India finished semi final losers where as Pak did fifth. Only one or two places in it in the end. Take some in return!!

We also beat New Zealand a team you have lost twice to over the past few few weeks:lara End table was Pak fifth and India third or fourth:ma

Hence a lot of credit to Pakistan for defeating this NZ bowling attack on a tough pitch.

Only in your lala fantasy world. :)))

History will show India qualified top of the table and Pakistan got knocked out after losing yet another WC match to India. :asif

The ball barely swung. We wouldn't have chased the total in the conditions in which India batted. No top-order can survive such a spell of swing bowling, let alone the top-order of a 6th ranked team.

no one cares about one to one in WC's Only winners are remembered and you will not be that. We all know what the overall one to one Indo-Pak score is:))):))):))) Pak did finish fifth and India semi final lOsers, its a FACT! Pak did not get knocked out by India when we also lost to Aus and West Indies.

I don't think it would have been a walk in the park for India chasing 240 yesterday either had rain not intervened.

The way the pitch was playing up, I think Boult and Ferguson would have ran riot. Yes don't think India would have been 6-3 but thats cricket for you, rain has disturbed alot of matches but today was a fresh day and both teams had a rest.

Pressure was more on New Zealand because 211-5 in 46 overs knowing you only have 4 overs to get as close to 250 as possible to make a game of it.

With India, they did take the last few wickets after Ross Taylor so I think it comes down to who held their nerve and gave it their all.

You could see it in New Zealand, they fought against all odds and came up trumps today, whether it was bowling whether it was fielding and lets not take away Kane Williamson's captaincy and his attacking tactics.

We can say ifs and buts all day but the extra night would have had the same amount of pressure on both sides.

Its like India batting first on a new day the only difference is they knew the target they had to get to the line and they bottled it.

Indian team and their fans thinks everyone loves them. They believe they are everyone second best team and that their players are playboys and an example to everyone. This is why I love to see them humiliated. On to the trip to the Caribbean. You're outta here Bharat! i know the Pak community are celebrating India being beaten and so am I:lara I am loving it!:vk2

I think if most pak fans are honest, they would say they are happy that india are out of the world cup!
I am too, but only because pak are out of the world cup.
What i really want is an india vs pakistan world cup final(with pakistan winnng of course!).
I genuinely believe both pak and india have been eliminated fom the world cup due to the rain! As the world cup only happens after 4 years, this has really cheesed me off!
This is the 12th wc and there has never been a pak vs india final!!
Theres been an aussie vs NZ final(may be another on sunday)
Theres been an aussies vs england final
But theres never been a pak vs india final!!

This is probably right but no point in dwelling on these issues. They seem like excuses. Have to accept NZ played better.

Time to move on and look to the future, which is quite bright.

These are just excuses, ifs and buts.We never fixed middle order problem.Paid for it.Simple as that.

Indian fans are much more mature than us pak fans!
Respect to you!
As a pak fan, i will maintain that the rain cost us the world cup!
And as indian fans are too mature to say it, i will say it, the rain cost india the world cup!
Should have been an india vs pak semi, with one of us going on to win the world cup!(pak, in my opinion!)

Nope. If we were to be champion, we need to win in any conditions. Clearly we weren't good enough. So batting today or yesterday doesn't matter in the end.

It’s and buts lol would Pakistan have won the World Cup if they had Mohammad asif shoaib Akhtar Imran khan and inzamam and haves miandad in 2019

Like i said above, you indian fans are more mature than us pak fans(should not really speak for all pak fans, i should really only speak for myself, so more mature than ME!)
Anyway,

BIG RESPECT TO YOU!
