Would Pakistan have got this close to chasing 373 if Hafeez and Malik had been playing?

Let's be honest. The answer is no. So can we/the media stop with the constant refrain "Pakistan needs experience in its batting." The youngsters are batting with far more freedom and selflessness than the likes of Hafeez and Malik who belong to another era and/or selfishly bat for themselves and their place in the team.

Time to move on. Please.
 
Yes Maliks broom technique is known to leather the fast bowlers to all places at the end of the innings.
 
We would have chased it in 40 overs.

Hafeez and his 'dynamic' batting, and Malik and his 'seniority and experience'.

Never. Another performance like today (even in losing scenario) and one of Hafeez or Malik will be going home for good. Here's to hoping Asif and Haris shine in at least one more match.
 
Tbh Hafeez could have made a difference in place of Faheem.
 
Malik, no. Hafeez, a resounding yes.

He finished a clinical chase against South Africa not too long ago. Would have guided Asif Ali much better in this chase.
 
Malik is a big NO. Hafeez makes the team due to no other viable alternative though I am sure he would have bottled it too. When was the last time you saw him chasing in a high scoring game?
 
Shoaib Malik, definitely no.

M Hafeez if playing instead of Yasir Shah could have bowled much better than him, reducing the target as well providing the late order finishing runs to take us over to victory.
 
Hafeez would have enjoyed this wicket. He is still one of the best timers in the game when he gets going?

Hafeez yes. Malik don’t think so. Useless Faheem needs to go and Hafeez needs to come in.

I like Malik but he would have struggled. I think Hafeez had the ability to take apart Plunkett and Wiley.
 
The top 4 just needs to remain solid and do bulk of scoring like today.
Who the others are doesn't really matter

Had Malik in playing eleven, we would have achieved the target. Harris is a good accumulator but has his limitation higher run rate is required.

Hating on seniors just for the sake of it is another issue with our fans. yes those seniors are not world class but hafeez's form before his injury was outstanding as he's the only batsman aside of fakhar who can smash spinners out of the attack we definitely need him in the middle for the WC . Babar was playing moeen like he was bloody murali ...
 
Malik is just too weak against pace and its why his track record is so extremely poor in England. Hafeez would have helped.
 
Hafeez yes. Say what you want about him, clearing the rope is one of his qualities. Considering how much accumulators we have, Hafeez is pretty important.

Hafeez in the middle order - Yes,he would have taken us over the line i believe.

Hafeez infact is a very good hitter down the order , pakistan need to make room for him by opening with babar and fakhar and rest imam.

People are under rating Hafeez Sobers, he's very important to this team.
 
I hope so. Another 50 from Asif Ali and some good scores from Haris will likely be the end of Hafeez and Malik. We played well.
 
Malik averages 13 in England , what you expect him to do here ?

Pakistan need to drop Imam , he is wasting too many balls and his game is not at all suited to Modern day cricket.
 
If Hafeez batted at 7 then yes, and if he bowled then could have bowled better than Yasir too it seems.

Malik would have "experimented" some more and we would have lost by 70+

I get a feeling they are saving Hafeez's bowling for the WC... If anyone knows what I mean...
 
If Hafeez gets called for his action in the first WC game, does that mean he can’t bowl in the remaining games? Or he can bowl till the end of the WC?

Yeah. Hafeez can play match winning knocks under such situations. We have seen him do against India and recently against SA. Malik is as limited as Sarfraz so they will at best rotate strike against pace.
 
Don't think so. Zaman and Babar played very well. Pakistan should drop bits and pieces players like Imad and Faheem. It's better to play a specialist bowler and batsman in place of them. If Amir is fit I would pick him ahead of Faheem.
 
Hafeez is a different beast when he bats with a clear head and positive intent. He has underperformed greatly in his career because of his fear of getting out.

He also looks very imposing with his new look. I can't wait to see him back in the team.
 
Malik, No.

But with Hafeez, definitely. We would have chased this total. We missed Hafeez yesterday.
 
If Hafeez came in when Safraaz come in with 100 runs and 60 balls I think we would have crossed the line. The professor is one of the few that we have that can actually hit big

We need Hafeez’s batting (He can up the ante) along with his bowling as 6th bowler. He was really missed in Aus series and even in Eng series uptil now. Sarfaraz doesnt have much confidence in Haris as 6th bowler so he doesnt use him much.

Hafeez will absolutely love these pitches.

When on song he's a beauty to watch, elegant strokeplay and effortless hitting.
 
If Harris has to sit out so Hafeez can play two down... we only have to play half the group games in CWC to find out about pakistan's departure date from uk
 
We will never move forward as a team as long as we keep selecting players from the pre-historic era of cricket. It's not even a matter of if they can score or not but we just need to freshen the team up with young guns who can take our cricket to the next level. This is why I can not wait till the end of the World Cup.
 
I was looking for this thread..No we cannot reach 350 with these 90s era players together in one team ...Period...
 
Hafeez was the reason we got to over 300 in the ICC Champions trophy final. He played really well in the last game and was taking on England. He got unlucky today and deserves to be in the team. However Malik needs to go
