Yasir Shah becomes the quickest bowler to 200 Test wickets (33 matches)

Yasir Shah:

A Lionheart and my favorite Test cricketer since he made his debut.

Has carried the Test team on his back for the last four years and is expected to win every game in the U.A.E.

Good luck to Yasir. Hopefully he gets there. Great guy plays the game in the right spirit always. The smiling assassin.

To be a great bowler, consistency is absolutely key. Qadir and Kanier were two of the most skilled leggies to have international cricket but their cricketing records are inferior to the likes of Yasir and Kumble. Neither Yasir nor Kumble were particularly skilled but what they didn't do was bowl poor deliveries as often as Qadir or Kaneria.

Sami is the fast bowling example of that. He couldn't sustain pressure because there was a loose delivery was always around the corner. His best bowling for Pakistan as a third seamer in an enforcer/workhorse sort of a role that would come in try to hurt the batsman. With a new swinging ball, he was a liability. In terms of natural ability, there isn't much difference between Sami and Steyn. Quick, skiddy outswing bowlers both of them.
This is spot on. Top post.

Only a daft person would bring that up, he didn't do it in a Pakistan shirt like your hero's salman butt and aamir did he who were selling the country on a daily basis for god knows how long. And if you look beyond the narrow mind, then you'd see that Kaneria ended his career in the top 5 of Pakistans greatest ever in Tests, he wasn't given an oppourtunity to make a comeback after that but he cemented his legacy even then, what more proofs do you need ? I think you require a self evaluation, Kaneria bled for his country and would have 600 wickets if it wasn't for Kamran Akmal.

Firstly, try to be civil, I know it’s hard. Secondly spot fixers were not my heroes and stick to the topic. Thirdly you are writing about accolades and rankings...but not explaining how Kaneria was a “complete bowler” you mention kamran but you do realise for the early part of his career he had rashid Latif behind the stumps....so please enlighten us a little. Kaneria bowling a 4 ball an over had little to do with a bad keeper but yes it didn’t help in Sydney 2010. Kaneria had chances to make a comeback in England 2010 but he was diabolical without kamran’s Help. Do you have anything civilised to say?

What a highly ignorant post, spot fixers are your hero's but you pick on one of the greatest leg spinners of the 21st century; if you are not man enough to argue this point then don't bring it up instead of saying stick to the topic when you diverted from it in the first place. Kaneria had a daft captain and a daft keeper behind him which didn't help. But he had every variation in the book which made him complete to go along with his high cricketing IQ which was as such that despite things not going his way due to captaincy and keeping he still ended in the top 5 highest wicket takers in Pakistan's history, this one statistic speaks for itself but it doesn't do his skill justice either.

Where did I mention other spot fixers? Kaneria fixed. Period
You going on and on about him being in top 5 Pakistani spinners doesn’t mean anything. But do elaborate on his variations

Yasir Shah only 3 wickets away to become the quickest ever to 200 test wickets. He is bowling superbly here and looks all set to achieve the feat in this innings.

Wow not only does he need 2 more wickets to shatter that record, but he has also picked up 25 wickets in this series with 16 Kiwi wickets to go. I think only 5 bowlers have 30+ wickets in 3 match test series and the record is 35 so unlikely he’ll break the record but he most likely will break in to the top 3/5 in that category as well!

Shane Warne said when Yasir debuted that he would end up with 200 Test Wickets. Somebody should ask Warne how many he thinks Yasir can get now, because not only is Yasir bowling better than ever at the moment but he is about to get to 200 wickets quicker than anyone and about 10 matches faster than Warne! (Of course not saying Yasir is better than Warne)

He later on said 300 actually, a week later i mean.

Surprised that he didn't break the record today, especially after that first session.

Only if these tests were played in pakistan, crowd would have been chanting his name Yasir Yasir.....on every ball :tahir2

Chairman PCB Mr. Ehsan Mani congratulates Yasir Shah on breaking the world record of the Fastest to 200 Test wickets

Lahore December 6, 2018: Chairman PCB Mr. Ehsan Mani congratulates Yasir Shah on breaking the world record of the Fastest to 200 Test wickets. In a message Mr. Mani has praised Yasir's outstanding contribution to Pakistan cricket. "It is indeed a proud moment for PCB and cricket fans across the country. Yasir has been a phenomenal bowler for Pakistan ever since his Test debut four years ago. I hope and pray for his continued success, he is a world-class performer and a real match winner who has a fantastic attitude towards the game."

Fantastic bowler and the best spinner in the world. Hopefully, he gets to 300 at an average of 27-28 before calling it a day. Also needs a good performance or two in South Africa to further distance himself from his HTB rivals.

Significant achievement, fastest to 200 wickets is no joke. Yasir has been Pakistan's biggest match winner in tests this decade.

This credit should be given to Sarfraz Ahmed. His clever use of his bowling made him what he is today. Without Sarfraz Yasir could not achieve this.

Congrats.

But have to say, achieved in a quite poor day for his standard - 2 wickets in 38 overs, one night watchman in whole day of a 4th day pitch!!!

Congrats Yasir. Great achievement. The best spinner in tests of all the spinners playing now

Yasir needs fast turn and bounce to be effective. Struggles when the pitch is slow and low.

Good achievement, would've been up for celebration, unfortunately Shah dropping Williamson on 80 has dampened the day as well as the record. They dropped him and Nicholls [Imam dropping him on short leg] both.

From 60 for 4, blackcaps making a comeback is just extraordinary for them and sloppy cricket by Pakistan.

Hoping against hope tomorrow Yasir Shah makes a comeback even though Pakistan's chances are reducing by the session.

in terms of number of balls bowled to take 200 wickets , Ashwin still remains the fastest .

Congrats to Yasir. Brilliant bowler. He is the first to reach the 200 wicket mark for Pakistan since Danish Kaneria. That was long time ago.

Wow. Didn't know he'd got that many. Stunning effort.

But the big question is, can he get 300 wickets by the end of his career :ashwin
