Yaya was class yesterday, seeing him in person you appreciate just how class he is, the power and the way he bursts past players. Also Kompany was immense, the guy is quality

He didn't wanna take it, he didn't, good on him? Offcourse, he stood by wht he believed but i dont know why are we blowing it out of proportion
 
I totally respect Yaya's decision. The only people blowing it out of proportion are those that see the very award as offensive.

I doubt the FA/whomever knew that Yaya was against drinking. Religion is after all a private matter.

The way i see things, it might only be offensive if Toure Yaya was FORCED/OBLIGED/EXPECTED to keep it and thats not the case as its been happening since forever, its more of a tradition now. I cant speak for others but if i was in his position, i'd not be offended, i'd just pass it on to a team mate who didn't have a problem enjoying that bottle lol

Nothing for Yaya to be offended about and he really wasn't/isn't. Daily Fail making a story out of this is 'same old, same old' garbage from them.

Like he cares about the prize. The win was more important.

He probably hates him because of the spat with Scholes where Yaya holds up an imaginary card, asking the ref to book Scholes. That's all I can think of, unless he just hates him because he is a Citeh player.

Manchester City's Yaya Toure on drink driving charge

Manchester City footballer Yaya Toure has been charged with drink driving, police have confirmed.
Police said the 33-year-old of Macclesfield, Cheshire was driving in Dagenham in east London at the time of the alleged offence.
Police said he was charged on Tuesday with driving while his alcohol level was above the legal limit .
He has been bailed and is due to appear at Barkingside Magistrates' Court on 13 December.
The midfielder played in Manchester City's 3-1 defeat at home to Chelsea on Saturday.
He was recalled to the Manchester City squad earlier this month after apologising for "misunderstandings" relating to comments made by his agent Dimitri Seluk.
In 2012, Toure spoke about being a devout Muslim and refused a champagne man of the match award due to his religious beliefs.
The club is yet to comment.

Yaya Touré admits to drink-driving but denies intentionally consuming alcohol

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has pleaded guilty to drink-driving, but says he had not "intentionally consumed alcohol".

The Ivory Coast player, 33, accepts he was "above the permitted limit", and did not challenge the charge.

He was fined £54,000 - a means-tested fine - and banned from driving for 18 months by Barkingside magistrates.

"It is well known that I am a Muslim and do not drink, said Toure. "I have always refused alcohol."

Toure was driving in Dagenham in east London at the time of the offence last month.

He pleaded guilty to the charge on Monday, but did not say in his Facebook statement how the alcohol got into his system.

In his statement Toure added: "Drink-driving is a serious crime and even though I was not intentionally consuming alcohol I accept the ban and fine and I would like to apologise for this situation."

Meh. Loads of muslims drink alcohol at least where i live. Not very public about it though. Although this guy certainly is a hypocrite.

This is yet another episode that confirms what we have known about him for years ... the guy is a epic tool.

No wonder Pep got rid of him at Barca despite him being such a dominant force on the pitch.

His excuse.....


He claimed he had only drunk Diet Coke and was not aware the jug he was drinking from had been mixed with brandy.

But a judge said it was "inconceivable" he did not know he was drinking and banned him from driving for 18 months and fined him £54,000 - less than week's wages.

Drinking alcohol is a personal thing and not an issue

But it's the hypocrisy here because he presents himself as some paragon of virtue and being a good Muslim

But then again that's the problem with a sizeable number of religious folk

I don't understand how he expects people to believe that he was not aware of consuming alcohol despite being above twice the limit lol. :))
 
So not only is he a cry baby, he's also a hypocrite. Could definitely learn a thing or two from his brother.
 
Former Manchester City footballer Yaya Toure has apologised for an "inappropriate joke" that forced him to quit this weekend's Soccer Aid match.

The 37-year-old was due to play for the World XI team in Sunday's charity game at Old Trafford, but is no longer taking part following content he shared on a group chat with his teammates.

The posts on WhatsApp sparked a string of complaints from his fellow squad members, who included several female players and celebrities, according to The Sun.

In a statement posted on Twitter, Toure said he is a "grown man who should not be engaged in such jokes" and he regretted the negative publicity which had deflected from the fundraising game for Unicef.

"I would like to apologise to everyone involved in Soccer Aid for an inappropriate joke I deeply regret," he wrote.

"It was meant as a joke however I lacked thorough consideration for the feelings of other participants.

"That being said I deleted the jokes within minutes and I immediately apologised to all inside the group.

"We gather for a good cause and this deviates the focus of the game which is to bring everyone together to help children around the world.

"It's sad to see an inappropriate joke I made attract the attention which should be fully devoted to the beauty of the charity game."

The former Barcelona star added: "Regardless of the circumstances, I want to take full responsibility. I am a grown man who should not be engaged in such jokes.

"I am very sorry for my mistake and I wish everyone all the best with Soccer Aid on Sunday in raising awareness and funds for important causes."

In a statement to Sky News, a spokesman for Soccer Aid said "the individual involved" would no longer be taking part in Sunday's match after "inappropriate content was shared in a private group text".

"The message was quickly deleted and a full apology was made to all," the spokesman added.

"Soccer Aid for Unicef has discussed the above with the individual involved and he has decided to no longer continue to participate in this year's event.

"While it was an error of judgement, it was felt that the behaviour didn't align with the values of the event and its cause, and it was the right thing for him to step back from this year's match."

This year's Soccer Aid match is being played behind closed doors for the first time due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The England XI team are being managed by Wayne Rooney and Sam Allardyce, while the World XI are being coached by Harry Redknapp and Bryan Robson.
