Younis Khan refuses to attend Karachi Test unless invited by Ehsan Mani

According to reports he has said he wanted an invitation from Ehsan Mani and not Wasim Khan, he would have then considered attending.

When asked about this Wasim Khan replied:

Younis Khan is a legend of the game, I have a good relationship with him. In terms of him not coming for the Karachi Test (refusing invitation), that's his wish. Whatever grievances he has with the PCB are his personal thing. On the other side, we have the Wasim Akrams of the world and these guys who work with us. Some won't he happy who aren't working with us. It's upsetting and disappointing that there's so many ex-players who have a history with PCB and haven't had good experiences. I need to mend these relationships. Younis Khan is a good friend and he's a good human being and we need such people involved in Pakistan cricket.

I respect Younus Khan as a cricketer and he looks like a decent human as well. Problem he is lead by emotions which never works well in relationships with the top management. He needs to be more smarter and have better control over his emotions.
 
Strange stuff.

What's the big deal about an invite by Ehsan Mani.

YK should be willing to buy his own ticket if he had to.

Great batsman but seems to be a very volatile personality. Better if he is never involved in any official capacity in the future.
 
YK was always a smiling cricketer but seems troubled inside.
 
He is an egoistic and borderline arrogant person , always wants special attention which is very unfortunate as he could have been useful in youth coaching.
His big ego is his own enemy.
 
He's had a scarred relationship with previous PCB regimes,lots of trust lost. Cant blame him only.

Jokes aside i dont know why PCB needs to invite him in the first place? He should buy tickets for his family and come to the ground, cricket is returning to Pakistan after a long time, he should be helping Pakistan cricket instead of this "Phupo role".
 
What’s next? He wont attend next match if Imran Khan himself doesn’t drive him to the stadium.
 
YK needs to find a job and relax. A top cricketer but totally obsessed with being given a reward for his success by the PCB. He is amongst the 99% of ex cricketers who want to get paid for doing nothing.
 
I still remember when he was vice captain under Inzamam and Inzy was suspended for a game and Younis refused to be captain saying he don't want to be dummy captain. He lost my respect that day and showed what kind of personality he is.
 
Man, these prime diva cricketers with their entitled attitudes. Amazing considering Younis's humble beginning.
 
Younis Khan really has some issues in life.

Why is he a terrible individual? Do you know all the history he has with the PCB?

He isn't speaking ill of anyone. Just wanting the chairman of the PCB invite Pakistan's greatest run getter in Test cricket doesn't make him terrible.
 
And some experts here wanted him to take over from Misbah after 2013.

Yes I'm well aware of his troubles with PCB. Naive to think PCB was the only party at fault in that little history.

Also naive to think Younis was the only one to blame.

My point being, you don't know what happened between PCB / Younis, so to call him a "terrible individual" is a massive overreach and speaks more to your personal sentiment towards him than anything rational.

But PCB is not the one doing drama here? And if he has issues, why will an invite from Mani change that?

Also was PCB at fault when he refused to be captain when Inzi was suspended because it hurt his ego too much to be a dummy captain? Was PCB also at fault when he took a fan into a room to beat him up? Anyone can see Younis Khan has had huge ego issues throughout his life
 
Shame on the PCB for not rolling out the red carpet for him.
 
One of my favorite test cricketers ever, and a great player, but man does this guy have issues.

Bro I met him in real life in my hometown years back when inzi was captain. Younis is a lovely bloke as oppose to inzi who when I shook his hand and said salaam all he could do was nod and not bother saying salaam back.

Younis has a well-documented past of these outbursts. You should really check on what the word 'rational' really means before saying that last part to me :inti
 
I don't blame YK for having a grudge with PCB.

He was at one stage banned by the PCB.

However, he's retired now and there are different people in charge. What's the big deal about an invite.
 
This is disrespectful, i can understand his pain. He is our Highest Test run-getter and T20 World cup Winning captain.

Can't blame him one bit for being angry at PCB. They refused to give him proper salary and dual role of Junior Chief selector and Head Coach whereas shameless Misbah was handed over 3 positions of Senior team with a hefty pay.

Younis was willing to work with the junior team which no one in Pakistan cricket is willing to do as there is not enough limelight. Look at greedy Misbah on the other hand. Younis wanted to work with the junior team and everyone called him ego maniac for demanding dual role at junior level.
 
I am not sure if this report is true or not (it probably is not) but there is a trend whereby Pakistan players just refue to let go, whether it's Inzamam accusing the team of in-fighting, Misbah infecting the next generation with his negative style of cricket or Youunis Khan with his drama. They dragged the team down when they played and they drag the team down after retirement.
 
The problem is that there a lack of interest in Test cricket in general especially when they are played on dead tracks. Another factor is that there is hardly any promotion done for this series which is atrocious to say the least especially with the tools available nowadays it should be done from time before and engage with the fans/cricketers.

As for ex cricketers attending, Test cricket taking place in Pakistan after 10 years, the likes of Miandad, YK, Inzi, Mushtaq, Waqar, Wasim and many others should have been attending either of the tests and actually buying their own tickets from their pockets and show how much Test cricket means for Pakistan and the fans.

I acknowledge that he's far from perfect but he was bang on the money here about PCB's preferences for new recruits and this also holds true for PCB when they are promoting internally, which probably explains why Misbah was able to retain the captaincy for so long.

Whilst I don't agree with Younis Khan turning down PCB's invitation to attend the Karachi test, he has every right to feel aggrieved. When you have lost out to Misbah, who we all know holds a very low cricketing IQ, there is every reason for him to feel cheated because after all Misbah was nothing more than an obediant stooge. It's a real travesty for an inferior tactician and batsman to be appointed as the Head Coach and Chief Selector of the national team following his failures as captain of the side.

Waqar Younis with his 90s era school of thought had two stints as Head Coach as well, so it seems the PCB have an appetite for failed tacticians.

Unlike Misbah, Younis Khan holds a decent cricketing IQ as he's superior tactician. It's sad to see posters on here bash him like as if he's part of the problem, when in reality he could be the solution to Pakistan's current mess as a Batting Coach and Head Coach. It's as if we have forgotten that he was the brain behind Pakistan's WT20 win in 2009. He was instrumental in taking Pakistan to the semi-final of the CT later that year, which featured a great win against a very strong India side.

Stop grouping him with other toxic ex-players.
 
Just don't invite him to a wedding! He'll kick off because he wasn't personally asked to go up to the stage for a photo shoot with bride and groom or wasn't offered the kebabs before they were gobbled up by other guests.
 
Test Cricket has comeback after 10 years in Pakistan. Younus being the last legend of test cricket in Pakistan must have showed up inspite of all the injustice he thinks has been done to him.
Some things are just greater than individual's ego.
 
Younis must be thanking his lucky stars that Mani didnt invite him personally for then he would have to sit through this $hitty display of cricket.
 
He wants to be invited , its between him and pcb. He was a damn good test batsman and thats what matters in the end.

The PCB really needs to find a way to control their former players. From making rash comments about their playing days to drama queen type behaviour over little things, these guys have done it all. We have Rahul Dravid who is running our version of the NCA. Former Pakistani greats refuse to even enter the NCA 😅
 
Yoni is a brand of Pakistan cricket.

Brands do not just walk into stadiums uninvited.

They have to be sent respectable invitation and must be felicitated in a separate public ceremony.
 
Next time send him a personal invite, private jet, red carpet too. Then he will think about it.

He's our first (and only) batsman to have crossed 10k test runs so I guess it's fair for him to make such demands.

Ridiculous !!! YK is a real prima donna - massive ego who thinks PCB constantly owes him something because of his ATG status in Pakistan cricket.

Overall i see a lot of these over-inflated self-worth types in Pakistan Cricket compared to ex-cricketers in other countries (Shoaib Akhter & Abdul Razzaq immediately come to the mind) Any particular reason why?
 
I too have refused to attend the Test in Karachi unless invited by Imran Khan. So there.

Razzaq is not a whiner. He is just an uneducated ex-cricketer trying to make some money by making himself look like a joker in front of the world.

Younis was definitely an ATG Test batsman, but his ego is bigger than anybody else.
 
The likes of moin khan, asif iqbal and younis khan need to brought into the set up

Youis was a great batsman but comes across as a rather awkward guy.
I can see why the team gang up against him when he was captain.
He likes fishing and my advice to him is go fishing on the day ofthe tests matches, being in isolation fishing is probably best for you and everyone else.
 
It's Karachi your home city, it's been 10 years since the last Test there, you should be doing anything and everything to help the return of Test cricket, not whining about your invite.
 
We don’t know why YK is upset at Wasim Khan. Clearly he is not upset with PCB or wouldn’t ask for a Mani invite. That will be a good fact to know before jumping to opinions.

Younis is never NOT upset with anyone.

Someone has to bring his ego in check and show him it's not above the game. Ban him from the stadium.

Even so, one should know the source of this upset.

Reason: Younis needs man management more than others. We all know that. But if managed well, he delivers. He has delivered trophy as captain and runs as a player - when handled right. He can nurture youngsters.

If he is willing to give back to the youth, and he has tremendous knowledge, work ethic and insight, then Mani and Wasim should manage him. He will be way better than the leeches that currently lurk in PCB HQ.
