Not going into anime territory (although I liked one punch man) here are my top 5

Rick and Morty
Brickleberry
Bobs Burgers
Family Guy
Bojack Horseman

Honorable mention

The Simpsons (the older episodes)
American Dad/ Southpark (older episodes also)

Fairly OddParents
Loonatics Unleashed
Teen Titans GO!
Avatar the Last Airbender
Teen Titans
Baby Looney Tunes
SpongeBob SquarePants
Jackie Chan Adventures

Definitely some more though

Growing up it had to be Rocket Power, Yu-gi Oh,Spongebob, Dragon Ball Z, Beyblade, Pokemon, Tarzan, Scooby Doo, the Simpsons, Batman and Jackie Chan animated series.

Been a while but I grew up watching Swat Kats and now that I think about it that cartoon might have effected my career choice and what I aspired to be.

Dexter's Lab, Ed Edd n Eddy, Scooby Doo, Flapjack, Megas XLR, Johnny Bravo (want to watch it again sometime). Teen Titans as well.

Couldn't get behind spongebob despite its popularity.

But the greatest ever was: BATMAN BEYOND. Truly ahead of its time.

All these kids are making me feel old, I don't recognize half of the cartoons they are listing :danish

Oh yeah, Teen Titans, Justice League and Batman Beyond were real good back then.

I'd also add Recess, Lloyd in space, Kim Possible, Catdog to my list.

Dexter, Ed x3, Johnny Bravo are the best along with Samurai Jack, Courage the cowardly dog etc. However in light of new cartoons they are filed in the old school category.

The new Samurai Jack mini series was pretty good. They made it a bit more PG for the kids who used to watch it but now are obviously grown up. Was a little rushed though.

If we are going to go down memory's lane then I would go with Captain Majid

It took like three episodes to score a goal which was very irritating but it did inspire us to go play football in the 45 degree heat

Honorable mentions

Khumasi
Janzero
Shanshero
Abtal Al Mala3eb
and
Nisf il Ba6al

Forgot Mazinger and Sanshero. Man we had a really good anime filled childhood, come to think of it.

Btw this was when one channel from Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah (mostly game shows with that dude, forgot his name) existed and we had one hour of cartoons from 3-4 every day. The transmission used to end at 10 every night apart from Thursdays which used to be a weekend and they used to show a "foreign" film at 10 which was totally censored. However they showed movies that only had a kiss or two cut out and they compromise of some of my best early memories.

Simpsons (older episodes) and Futurama. Made by the same team, something about the humour in those is just right up my street.

Don't know how I forgot about Futurama in my initial list. Definitely in my top 3.

I don't know if you're aware of it, but the Simpsons went downhill around the same time as the writers left and started working on Futurama. Might have been after about series 10 or 11, can't remember offhand now, but it just dived in quality when the old hands left.

10, 11 is being a bit generous, I personally think that Simpsons was the best between seasons 3 and 9, but 10 and 11 given the Simpsons today is still waay better. I like Futurama more probably because it ended when it did. The jokes however were very funny without being cynical and vulgar like Family Guy, South Park etc (not that they aren't funny in their own right either).

I don't mind the vulgarity in South Park when it's done well, but it can get a bit much when they miss the mark. Some absolutely brilliant scenes but you do have to wade through some rubbish to get to them, and I just couldn't be bothered in the end.

I think animated series and cartoons are two separate categories.

Currently, Rick and Morty is the best animated series by a fair distance. The old episodes of The Simpsons are not only the best animated TV ever but among the best TV ever. Family Guy is good for the jokes but is not at good at storytelling as The Simpsons - Brian and Stewie are brilliant characters though.

As for cartoons, my favourites growing up were:
Rugrats
Hey Arnold
Pokemon
Dexter's Laboratory
Johnny Bravo

Anime:

Cowboy Bebop - Just an unbeatable show. It's smart, picks off around the third episode and never ever looks back after that. Space genre mixed with absolute lunacy and some ground breaking music.

Animated TV:

Archer - For the lols. What a brilliant show. Laana, Laana, Laana, laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaana.

Futurama - This show has it's good moments, and bad moments, and then some out of the world moments that make you go woah, I was watching this for the laughs not crying inside my blanket. Rick and Moriarty, Bojack Horseman pale in front of the show with their fake deep intelligence that is the norm these days. This isn't an animated show pretending to be something more, it's just what it is. Dr. Zoidberg and Bender are unforgettable.

Cartoons:

The Adventures of Johny Quest & Swat Kats from the adventure genre. Johny Quest were ahead of their time, so much so that some of the three D rendering in the show really is an eye sore if you watch them now.

Voltron, Defenders of the universe (and the reboot too) - Mostly for the nostalgia but they had their good moments.

Honorable mention to South Park but I don't like the language used in it anymore. Ed Edd and Eddy were good too.

South Park... always at the top of the list.
Family guy
Archer
Space Ghost coast to coast

Shows that I enjoyed as a kid:
Voltron
Thunder Cats
Silver Hawks
Transformers
GI Joe
Batman
Batman Beyond
Justice League

I am not much for Anime ..... very few have been enjoyable for me.. Aldnoah Zero was good.
The Animated Spawn series on HBO was pretty decent.

Popeye! I started eating spinach because off him:shadab Bugs Bunny was good as well!.
