A very simple question - do you have any favourite domestic/franchise teams?
Many of us have a story about a random scorecard, or a browse through cricinfo, or a favourite player joining an overseas team that makes you tune into their results. What teams do you keep your eye on and why?
For me
Pakistan - I don't really have a favourite 4 day team as the structure changes a lot but generally look to keep an eye out for punjab region teams whenever they pop up. In domestic T20s I liked Faisalabad Wolves. In PSL I don't have a stand out team as they don't have an identity.
England - Lancashire, Surrey and Sussex - I don't support them, but I used to look at their scorecards in detail during the Wasim era and subsequently, Saqlain and Mushtaq Ahmed for their sides. After a while, I started taking an interest in their own players and would tune in ( whenever playing live) or on scorecards to see how these players were progressing.
India - I've never really followed Ranji, but I have some friends who follow passionately; they have done what Pakistan hasn't been able to do and build real team identities and heritage.
Australia - None, really, but I would keep an eye out for NSW, as they were basically the Australian side. In BBL, I take a look at Melbourne Stars occasionally because they gave a helping hand to some Pakistani development cricketers, but I don't watch the league too much.
