Only op, in name of his personal opinion can't pick even single out of Dhawan, Kuldeep and Rohit.
Seriously how come Rashid is even in consideration in compare to Kuldeep yadav.

When Rashid and Kuldeep faced each other in England-India ODI series, Rashid helped England to 2-1 series win. Honestly, nothing wrong with that selection.

No Babar? @ OP

I think Kane just pips him at 3, although Babar scores more quickly. By his standards, its been a bit of a low year.

Because Rashid has bowled better and in more important performances, leading to series wins. Both Johnny and Fakhar have been better (just) than Dhawan as opener. The same goes for Rohit.

Moving on, not quite sure how Rashid Khan gets picked in these type of things. He does not play against the best ODI sides nearly often enough. Yes statistically he looks world class but when most of those matches come against the lowest possible level of opposition (13 out of 20 matches this year have come against teams outside of the top 10).

Stats, as I always say, are not everything.

One series means nothing, because op didn't selected Rohit and Dhawan in his team but they outshined Fakhar in Asia cup, but I am OK with your choice.
May be I was wrong to point out OP but really find surprising that not selecting singke out of Rohit, Dhawan and Kuldeep, who were top performers for the year.

Fakhar Zaman averages 30 with the bat and has zero centuries if you take out his minnow bashing against a team that won't even be playing in the World Cup next year. That and it's been terrible year for Pakistan in ODIs in general. Any unbiased neutral would have gone with Rohit.

Don't know why people are picking rabada who has been average in Odis. Ngidi is much better and more effective in odis. stats also show that.

Adil Rashid over Rashid khan. Adil is a very underrated limited overs bowler, probably England's best limited overs bowler

Not too sure about hetmeyer

To be honest, this has been such a breath taking year for test cricket that the odis did not concern me as much as they usually do.

We are ranked 5th in ODIs which is pretty decent so there should be at least 3 pakistanis in ODI XI of 2018. Yes Asia Cup was horrible, we got the thrashing of lifetime from Indians, not once but twice but other than that, it was actually a pretty good year for Pakistan in ODIs.

If number 5 is decent and deserving of 3 players in the XI then:

1) Being ranked number 4 is even more decent and deserving of 3 players too

2) Being ranked number 3 is better than 'more decent' and deserving of 4 players in the XI

3) Being ranked number 2 is outstanding and deserving og 5 players in the annual XI

5) Being ranked number 1 is better than everything else and deserving of 6 players in the annual XI

So, 6 players from England plus 5 from India. Guess how many remain for the lowly, pathetic number 5 ranked team?

Rohit
Bairstow
Kohli
S Marsh/S Hope
Root
Buttler(wkt)
T Perera
Rashid Khan
Kuldeep
Bumrah
Rabada

Marsh and Hope both had great year and got hundreds against top teams, so I will have one of two at 4 and Root comes down at 5. Not many options so went with Perera as seam bowling option. He is a good hitter at 7 and he had a good year as well.

Dhawan and Fakhar misses out. Lol on Babar and Williamson being mentioned. Shakib misses out because there is already two spin bowling options. Shaheen could have made it if he played more. Rabada being there doesn't speak of much.

Rohit,
Dhawan,
Kohli
Root,
Butler,
Hetmeyer
Bumrah,
Rabada
Stokes,
Kuldeep
Rashid Khan

I can't believe no one picked Ross Taylor. He had a poor year in tests but is one of the best ODI players in the world. His 181* vs England was one of the best innings of all time

Taylor is certainly very good but can he replace Kohli or Root in the middle order? Or Butler lower down? Or play instead of all rounder Hasan? This is what makes picking such XIs so tricky.

1. Fakhar Zaman
2. Rohit Sharma
3. Joe Root
4. Virat Kohli (C)
5. Eoin Morgan (Didn't have a hundred this year but it was between him and Hetmeyer and I feel Morgan adds more stability to the side, only a SR of 94 but if he needs to we all know he can turn it on and his average is 2 runs better than Hetmeyer, so I eventually chose Morgan this was the hardest pick for me)
6. Jos Buttler (WK)
7. Chris Woakes (Had and average of 41 @108 this year with the bat and with the ball 26 ave @5)
8. Rashid Khan
9. Kuldeep Yadav
10. Trent Boult
11. Mustafizur Rahman
