Pakistan former captain and legendary fast bowler Wasim Akram has come out in defence of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Managing Director Wasim Khan, while expressing disappointment over the fiasco in PCB’ s Board of Governors (BoG) on Wednesday.

“Disappointed over what happened in PCB BoG meeting today,” said Akram, while talking to local media. “All teams are preparing for Cricket World Cup 2019 and we’re busy in other arguments. Let’s see what reaction Prime Minister Imran Khan gives,” he added.

The 53rd meeting of the PCB Board of Governors (BoG) was adjourned for a later date due to an incomplete quorum.

As per reports, majority members of the BoG rejected the appointment of Wasim Khan as managing director. In a resolution written and signed by five of the seven BoG members, the members demanded that MD Wasim Khan’s “appointment and the unconstitutional post of MD PCB be declared null and void.”

Meanwhile, Wasim Akram was of the view said: “Wasim Khan must be given one chance.”

The resolution forwarded by the members further stated that “any move to abolish departments and regions in the restructuring of domestic cricket” and demanded formation of a Domestic Cricket Restructuring Committee (DCRC) to draw up proposals for domestic restructuring, to be presented at a special BoG meeting on April 30 in Lahore.”

Pakistan’s former Test skipper, Wasim Akram criticized the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for getting into controversies just before the upcoming World Cup, slated to start from May 30 to July 16 in England and Wales.

“It’s time to get prepared for the World Cup. Teams are focusing on developing their squads for the mega event and we are dealing with controversies,” said Wasim.

He pointed towards the incident on Wednesday during PCB BoG meeting, where the members walked out rejecting the appointment of the board’s new Managing Director Wasim Khan.

The former Test cricketer, who believes fitness plays a key role in one’s performance, while speaking to the media said that the national squad is yet to be announced and he hopes for fair chances for all the players. “I hope that only fit players get a chance to get in the squad for the World Cup,” he said.

Wasim, who played the World Cup 1992 under the leadership of Imran Khan, revealed that his former captain is a strong supporter of Australia’s domestic cricket structure. “He believes in quality and not quantity that is why he supports six-region domestic structure,” he said.

While answering to a query regarding PCB’s cricket committee, Wasim said that the last meeting of the committee was held months ago. “Let me know if you get an update about the cricket committee,” Wasim taunted.

Pakistan will face England in five matches ODI series, a T20I, several games against county sides before playing their opening match in the World Cup against West Indies on May 31 at Trent Bridge.

Typical Pak rubbish. He is the the one talking of other issues then complaints of the very thing. We are just never happy with anything, forever a mess. Ex players should just shut the hell up more often then not!

Maybe you should take your own advise, it would help with the weight loss as well perhaps ? Akram has said nothing wrong here

Wasim (Akram) is absolutely right. The BOG should ask themselves what have they done for the betterment of Pakistan cricket ?

He is trying to rattle team spirit with the WC being so near. I am not the one who is doing that. My weight will lose begin to lose once the WC starts.

Well it is Ramadan then :mv

If one man could "rattle" an entire teams spirit before a WC then either he is extremely remarkable or we don't really have a WC team but a bunch of village idiots who think they can play cricket at the highest level

Perfect time, just before the WC we needed this :trump

Finally we got someone professional and qualified to run the PCB and now this.

Many off our players are indeed that. We depend on confidence more then any other side. Things Wasim is on about can wait after the tournament is over. The team needs to be united now as the tournament approaches. Such outside interference by former cricketers is unnecessary at this point.

Wasim has a point but problem is that these regional guys are used to their chai/paanee - wont take this lying down

It just feels like Wasim is just trying to find things to bash PCT about.
