President of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Nazmul Hasan speaking to the press:

“I think Bangladesh should win the series. They (Pakistan) are also expecting a tough challenge from Bangladesh. Tamim (Iqbal) returned to the team for a long time. He is not an attacking batsman like he was before but he is now more mature. Afif (Hossain), Mahedi (Hasan), Shanto (Najmul Hossain) played well in the just-concluded Bangabandhu BPL. I think they together will help us poise a strong performance in Pakistan"

It's been while both team have played limited over cricket so i can see why he is taking Pakistan lightly

Bangladesh with Shakib and Mushfiq are clearly better than Pakistan in Limited Overs in Asian conditions. However, it will be very difficult for them to win without them.

Just like they did(With shakib/musfiqar) in recent worldcup 😭😂😂.

Seems like Pakistan winning test series against mighty bd have already given you excuse of missing shakib/mushfiqar

I expect Bangladesh to win at least one T20. If they can't do that, it would be disappointing.

BD would've had a better chance with Shakib. It is a shame he got banned.

He know something we don’t. The chief destroyer of Pakistan cricket, Misbah, plays for the opponent always by weakening Pakistan cricket and going into a defensive shell. I myself expect Bd to win while we have Misbah at helm.

That's the msg he needs to send to his team!

And our ever confident coach says that both these teams are equally matched and there's no favorite :)

If the Pakistani coach doesn't consider his team as favorites even at home against BD, then God knows how he feels playing better sides. As I've always said, Misbah is the definition of a defeatist mindset. I feel bad for the players who have got such a loser of a coach.

LOL. Bangladesh is going to get whitewashed across formats.

With two top players out, it is a significantly weakened Bangladesh team. Pakistan team will fancy a whitewash. Time to boost their averages.

Did Misbah say any such thing

It could very well happen!

Babar is the main batsman and needs the batting line up to revolve around him, hence the need for aggressive batsmen.

The current squad has batsmen who are primarily accumulators, so Babar will be forced to play shots and more pressure on him will be exerted.

Read my post again. There is a clue which you might find on second attempt.

BCB President Nazmul Hasan Sunday met with the team on the sidelines of the training camp at Mirpur as he would be unable to meet with the players again before they depart for Lahore, likely on January 22

Cricketers of the Bangladesh national team Sunday reported for the first day of preparation for the forthcoming T20 phase of the Pakistan tour. However, discussions in the dressing room focused more on security concerns than on cricket.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has been putting in significant effort to reintroduce international cricket to the country since last year, as a terror attack on the Sri Lankan team in 2009 led to a ban on travel there for the sport for a decade.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hasan Sunday met with the team on the sidelines of the training camp at Mirpur as he would be unable to meet with the players again before they depart for Lahore, likely on January 22. He confirmed that concerns over security were weighing on the minds of the travelling players.

“We did not want to discuss security with the players, however, there was a small discussion and I told them there is nothing to worry about and that they should think more on the game. The performance will be affected if they are thinking about it [security],” the BCB president told the media.

“Cricket is a tough game to play without mental peace. On top of that, the format is T20, which tends to be very tense. The game changes every second. I have told them to keep calm and that Inshallah everything will be fine. I will be joining them and will stay with them. There will be no issues,” Nazmul added.

Regarding preparations the Bangladesh side is taking to ensure the safety of the cricketers, Nazmul said: “We have an advance security team. We have been informed that we will have personnel from NSI and DGFI looking after the cricketers throughout the tour, and we are taking out own preparations as well.

“Personnel from the national security agencies will travel with our cricketers along with BCB security. We have seen the PCB’s security plan and there is nothing more that can be done to it. The fact is that incidents can happen anywhere now. The situation for us [BCB] would have been different if this was simply a bilateral series,” he further said.

“We have the ICC Test Championship matches that we need to play, so we naturally had no option [but to travel to Pakistan]. It is important for us to participate as a full member country of the ICC, and that is where we had some pressure. I believe we will be able to understand the situation there once we come back from playing this T20 series, and we can discuss if there is any issue,” Nazmul explained.

Bangladesh will tour Pakistan in three phases, starting with the T20I series. The cricketers are set travel to Lahore for the T20Is on Wednesday, and will travel back home after the conclusion of the matches on January 27.

The team will return to Pakistan to play the first Test in Rawalpindi, which starts on February 7, before Pakistan's players partake in the Pakistan Super League T20. Bangladesh will then return to play the lone ODI on April 3, before the second Test starts in Karachi on April 5.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan Papon said the upcoming Twenty20 series between Bangladesh and hosts Pakistan will be good and highly competitive.

Citing the last series in India, Nazmul said, “We should have won the series against India. We’re on a winning position in the series after the victory in the series opener though we could not do it finally. We had no Shakib and Tamim. So, there was a big gap due to the absence of these key players.”

“We’ve got some players in BPL who have what we’re seeking for so long. Even some important players have returned to form. Of them, Liton got back in form, Tamim is also playing well though we’re yet to see his hard-hitting strokes, but he got back his confidence and that is a plus-point for us. Afif has been playing well, and so are Naim and Shanto. Off-spinner Mahadi Hasan has also returned to his form. We’ve got to see among them the spirit and courage what are needed for T20,” Nazmul told reporters after holding a meeting with the players, coaching staff, and officials at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur yesterday.

"We have seven batsmen in the line-up. But we will not get scores from them everyday. Maybe two-three among them can fire. We’ve at least six batsmen, who can build a big score and that’s a plus point,” he added.

He tipped the absence of Mushfiqur Rahim as unfortunate. “We’ll miss the service of Mushfiq. He is the dependable batsman for our team. He once again proved in BPL that he is the best. From that point of view, we will definitely miss him,” he added.

“We also won't have Shakib. So, we’ll miss both of them. It is unfortunate for us if we don’t get in-form players. But I think it’ll be a good series. Like them, we hope it’ll be a good series. Bangladesh should win the series,” he said.

The BCB president urged players of the Bangladesh Twenty20 squad to focus more on their games during their tour of Pakistan.

Asserting full security to the players and coaching staff, Papon said there will be no security problem for them in Pakistan because they will go there with full preparation besides the high-security arrangement provided by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

“Any Twenty20 match is a high-tension game. A match could changed at every moment. So, I told them to keep a cool head. Inshallah, nothing will happen. We are with them all. We’ll stay and eat together. There is no problem,” Nazmul said.

“A highly capable team from National Security Intelligence is going with us. There will be personnel from DGFI with us as well. We will take full preparation from our side on what is needed to make this tour successful. We’re trying our best. We didn’t talk about security this time around. There is nothing to worry about security,” he added.

The BCB president entered the stadium and talked with players undergoing practice during their first practice session ahead of their Pakistan tour. He later informed that he had come to Mirpur for four reasons.

He met all the players as he didn’t get a chance to meet them after BPL. Along with that, he has to go out of the country on emergency basis tomorrow night though he will return on January 22. Although he can't accompany the team from the start of the tour, he will meet them in Pakistan on January 23 and stay with them throughout the series.

It was important to make sure which supporting staff are going there, for which he sat with everyone to fix the list. BCB director Akram Khan and chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu will accompany the BCB boss in Pakistan.

Bangladesh will fly to Pakistan on Wednesday (January 22) night and reached on Thursday (January 23) morning (10am). The visiting team will hold a light practice on Thursday evening at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, before clashing against the home side under the lights on Friday (January 24).

Bangladesh has a decent ODI and T20 team tbh, even without Mushfiqur and Shakib they pose a big threat to Pakistan.

Bangladesh with Shakib and Mushfiq are clearly better than Pakistan in Limited Overs in Asian conditions. However, it will be very difficult for them to win without them.

Hahaha, Bangladesh are clearly better that is why they are comfortably ranked below Pakistan in T20's and ODI's. You do provide great comic relief.

I still remember the Asia Cup 2018 humiliation. I will not forget it.

Didn’t no 1 ranked T20 Pakistan team recently lost the series to no 8 ranked Sri Lanka?

Given that we just lost the series to SriLankan C team, there is a good chance Bangladesh can white wash us. Especially if Tamim and Soumya get going. And Bangla spinners are generally better then Pak spinners in limited overs

?

Bangladesh was destroyed after that in a world cup match..

An inconsequential dead-rubber.

Bangladesh have won all the important ODIs since the 2014 Asia Cup when Afridi broke their hearts.

I like this by Nazmul Hasan.

Now that he has agreed to send Bangladesh, he is not making any apologetic noises about security, lack of players and coaches etc. It gives the series seriousness.

Well done!

yes he is right, they can win because Pakistani team have a tendency to loose to C or D grade team.

Bangladesh’s Nazmul Hossain, who had recently played some brilliant knocks in the just concluded BBPL to get the nod for the Pakistan T20 series, said that if Bangladesh can execute their plans, they can hope for success in the away tour.

The tour of Pakistan was mired in uncertainty due to security issues but the two boards were finally able to come to a mutual agreement last Tuesday. Bangladesh named a 15-member squad with Nazmul recalled back into the side.

He was the only batsman to strike a ton in this season’s BBPL and was of the opinion that the lack of practice matches for the Pakistan tour was not going to be a factor. Bangladesh toured India last year and lack of preparations, especially for the Tests, saw them struggle in sporting wickets against India quicks. The tracks in Pakistan is expected to offer something similar.

“Most of us played and performed in the BPL and thus preparation-wise we are in good touch. I don’t think it will be a big issue not playing preparation matches.

“Last year the wickets we played in were sporting wickets,” he said while talking to reporters today.

“If our bowlers can bowl in the right areas, they will get help from the wicket. The wickets are also good for batsmen. If we can bowl according to our plan and our strengths, we will be able to score runs and pick up wickets. We are capable of doing that,” he added.

Bangladesh go into the tour without their most reliable batsman in Mushfiqur Rahim. After the chastening defeats in India, will the absence of their star batsman add more concerns for Bangladesh during their Pakistan tour?

“We are not worried that in place of Mushfiqur bhai we may need to fulfill a big role. We are positive about focusing on our strengths and abilities and if we can do that then it won’t be very problematic,” Nazmul said.

Bangladesh ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan insisted that the Tigers should claim the three-match T20 International series against Pakistan, considering the hosts' recent performance in this format.

Though Pakistan is ranked as No.1 team, they had recently conceded a 3-0 whitewash at the hands of Sri Lanka in the last T20 series at their own den.

Moreover, Pakistan formed their team with most of the new players in which there was no room for Mohammad Amir who was tremendously successful during the Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BBPL) T20.

"When Sri Lanka last time visited Pakistan, they won the series by 3-0, so we have to win the series," Shakib said during his promotional activities with Lifebuoy at the city today.

The all-rounder also wished Bangladesh good luck for the tour in Pakistan in which the security issue hogs the limelight.

"I hope they will remain safe there and return to Bangladesh safely. And obviously may they return to Bangladesh with success," he added.

Shakib has been serving the two-year ban, one year of that suspended, imposed by the International Cricket Council (ICC) due to his failure to report corrupt approaches by the bookies.

But off the field from cricket he seems to have enjoyed his life full with corporate engagements. He further insisted despite all those he is missing the cricket badly.

"If you are engaged with something for most part of your life, whether you like it or you dislike it, naturally you will miss it. It is no exception in my perspective also," Shakib added.

He sidestepped the question whether he prepares himself to come back to cricket with a bang.

"You have to wait until I return to cricket [whether I comeback strongly]. If I said I am doing many things to prepare myself but I can't prove it after my return to cricket…in that case, that won't be acceptable and the result won't be good. Keep waiting…time will say the rest," he remarked.

While the likes of David Warner and Steve Smith lost all of their endorsement after being banned from the cricket due to their involvement in 'sandpaper scandal' in South Africa, Shakib's involvement in endorsement seemed to have enhanced after his ban.

Asked where the magic lies, Shakib said, "You better try to find out the reason."

But he is happy to get the love from the people despite being banned from the cricket and said his responsibility enhanced more as he wants to give back the love of the people.

"There is old saying that when you are alive, the significance of you won't be understood. But in my case, I have understood my significance while I am alive. I am happy to get that love. The responsibility has been heightened naturally. I will try to fulfill my responsibility," he added.

However the lifebuoy company who selected Shakib as their brand ambassador to create the awareness of washing hands regularly amongst the children doesn't think that the ban imposed on Shakib would tarnish their brand image.

"We are not thinking in that line as we give importance on authenticity. As a brand and brand ambassador, Shakib has been the most authentic," Lifebuoy spokesperson Nafis Anwar said.

Shakib said: "The relation reaches at this stage that it would hardly be hampered due to any personal problem. We are now like a family after maintaining relationship for so many days. So there is nothing to think about an alternative."

Seems Nazmul Hassan didnt accompany side to Pakistan as he had claimed he would.

He was there in Pakistan during the 2nd T20I where he along with Ehsan Mani and the president were enjoying the match love at the Gaddafi stadium.

Read my post again. There is a clue which you might find on second attempt.

When it comes to Pakistan we dont need to read any clues from your posts, its always how bad Pakistan is. Quite frankly majority of people here dont take you seriousily. Longer or short version Pakisan is long way ahead of Bangladesh with Mush and Shakib in.
