“The butcher of Gujarat lives, and he is the Prime Minister of India” Bilawal Bhutto Zardari

It is a disgrace that an illiterate criminal chaiwala is the PM of India. It is even more disgraceful that he has millions of supporters (including many on this forum).

Bilawal is right.

for the sake of discussion ... Lets assume for a moment that you, Bilawal and many other prominent people in Pakistan are right. If so that would have lead to disastrous consequences for India as the allegations you level against him are extremely serious. Yet if you look at all metrics since 2014 most of them show improvements and this is despite covid and the massive baggage from previous govts ... so perhaps you are not entirely accurate if not plain wrong ?

What is amusing is that Bilawal's grandfather is accountable and has overseen one of the biggest genocides in documented history (that too of Muslims) because his ego did not allow him to share political power with other half of his country. I hope one day Bilawal has the courage to speak about that.

By the way, I do believe Modi as CM of Gujarat in 2001 is accountable for the Gujarat riots. It does not matter whether there was Godhra earlier, who started, who instigated, whether the court has given verdict that he has not killed with his own hands, the fact is that while Gujarat was burning his government did nothing to stop it untill national media prompted Vajpayee to threat him with a sack which should have been done regardless . It does not matter what he is doing as PM today, he simply should not have been in CM office then given his abject failure to maintain law and order and prevent loss of human life as the prime administrator of the state.

The Foreign Office on Wednesday rejected remarks made by Indian Minister of External Affairs S. Jaishankar in which he indirectly referred to Pakistan as the “epicentre” of terrorism while on a tour to Austria.

Jaishankar made the remarks on Monday during a joint press conference with his Austrian counterpart Alexander Schallenberg while on a two-nation visit to Austria and Cyprus.

“Since the epicentre [of terrorism] is located so close to India, naturally, our experiences and insights are useful to others,” Jaishankar had said, after making a mention of “cross-border practises” of terrorism.

That same day, Jaishankar said that he “could use much harsher words [for Pakistan] than epicentre” during an interview on program ZIB 2 on Austria’s national broadcaster ORF, when the host remarked that the use of the word “epicentre […] doesn’t sound very diplomatic”.

He added: “Considering what has been happening to us, I think epicentre is a very diplomatic word.”

‘Latest tirade’

In a statement issued today, the Foreign Office rejected the “baseless and frivolous accusations” made by Jaishankar and called his “latest tirade […] a reflection of growing frustration over India’s failure to malign and isolate Pakistan”.

It demanded that the “malicious campaign” to mislead the international community through a fictitious narrative of victimhood and vile anti-Pakistan propaganda […] must stop“.

The FO asserted that “India should itself end its involvement in terrorism, subversion and espionage against Pakistan”, citing the dossier released in December 2022, which contained “irrefutable evidence” of India’s involvement in the 2021 Lahore terrorist attack.

The statement also criticised India for its “brazen involvement in fomenting terrorism on Pakistan’s soil” as well as for its “state-sponsored terrorism” in India-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, saying that its “anti-Pakistan diatribe” could not hide these actions.

The FO further recalled various incidents in which India is alleged to be involved: “The death of over 40 Pakistani nationals on Indian soil in the 2007 Samjhauta Express tragedy to the arrest of Kulbhushan Jadhav — a serving Commander of Indian Navy — from within Pakistan in 2016, the evidence of Indian involvement in terrorism and sabotage is irrefutable and spans over decades and geographies.”

DAWN

Jaishankar is a great statesman and a real asset of India. He is spot on regarding his views on Pakistan.

India says BBC film on Modi’s role in Gujarat riots ‘propaganda’
The BBC documentary features the findings of a UK inquiry into the 2002 deadly riots, which reveals PM Modi failed to stop the violence.

India’s foreign ministry has dismissed as “propaganda” a BBC documentary on Prime Minister Narendra Modi that questions his leadership during the deadly 2002 Gujarat riots.

Modi was the chief minister of the western state of Gujarat when it was gripped by communal riots that left more than 1,000 people dead – most of them Muslims. The violence erupted after a train carrying Hindu pilgrims caught fire, killing 59.

The report of a United Kingdom inquiry showcased in the documentary refers to the events as a “systematic campaign of violence” which has “all the hallmarks of ethnic cleansing”, and places direct responsibility on Modi.

The UK government report was never made public until it was revealed in the documentary.

Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari will leave for Goa today (Thursday) to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers meeting — a visit that has stirred mixed emotions in India, particularly given his cutting remarks on Indian Prime Minister Naredra Modi’s communal politics and harsh treatment of India’s minorities.
