“We need to find an all-rounder at number 7 to compete against teams outside Asia” : Azhar Ali

Shadab Khan and Faheem Ashraf are not Test match all-rounders.

They could play 100 Tests between them and they would barely win you 2 or 3 matches with either bat or ball between them, if you were lucky.

Does shadab have to win you games to be in the team?Would you not take shadab avging 35 with the bat and 35, with the ball which he might be capable of giving balance to the team?

Shadab 35 with the bat and ball? I don't think he's capable of that in Test cricket.

The problem is they haven't got a pace-bowling all-rounder who is good enough to bat at 8 and play the role of the 3rd or 4th seamer and because of that they are trying to fill the gap with Shadab.

Id say batting is the problem not anything else

This game wasnt lost because of the all rounder but once again the top 5 bottled it

Of course he is not going to mention that he & his Best Friend Forever Asad Shafiq failed. He wants an allrounder at #7, to cover for their ineptitude.

Pakistan needs to find new batting talent. A country wide batting talent hunt should be done, just like fast bowling talent hunt has been done a few times. Azhar and Asad are done they are not going to change dramatically this late in their career.

Neither Faheem nor Shadab are currently good enough to warrant a place in the side. Focus more on getting specialist batsman or if you want more bowling then play a specialist bowler, and put the very top batsmen in the top 6. This all rounder obsession is a weak compromise to cover up Azhar and Asad's batting failures, and won't work because our all rounders aren't good enough. They expect a Ben Stokes, it won't work.

Yamin would have been good in these swinging conditions and hes better bat than ashraf defo

Azhar Ali: “All-rounders create balance especially medium pacers. Faheem Ashraf is working hard to make his spot in the team. Rizwan’s performances were important and he did really well. Shadab also performed really well in the first Test but we had to bench him due to conditions, his performance didn’t warrant that. We are close to finding the right balance but we’re not there yet. Rizwan’s performances show that we can consider him at #6. Shadab as an AR has shown he’s good enough for #7. We have to find someone at #8, if conditions are good for bowling, we need a medium pacer AR."

Seems like 1 all rounder at 7 isn't enough, he wants another one at 8. Is Faheem good enough for that spot, or is there someone else that warrants it more?

Fahim is good enough at 8 but not higher shadab is okay at 7 due to his batting ability and part time spinning ability

I mean lets analyze english bowlers
..bess was meaningless although he got some gifted wickets so did shadab..now woakes batting n bowling is the reason they won the series which we lacked
