what about his impact on the ODI side? The dark ages of Pakistan ODI cricket?
His test stats look good because we played 70% of our cricket in UAE in the last 6 years. he doesn't have a single test series win outside UAE. That explains his legacy.
Number one ranking in Tests is a massive achievement and that defines his legacy. Doesn't matter how and why, I'm well aware of how Pakistan got there and how good we really are, but that doesn't matter in the end.
Yes we were dependent on the UAE but you seem to have forgotten our poor results at home during the 2000-2009 period. We were a weak team at home in that era in Tests, so the unbeaten streak in the UAE is nothing to scoff at.
Misbah has a poor legacy in Limited Overs, but rankings in ODIs and T20s don't mean much in the long run unlike Test rankings, and that is because Test cricket doesn't have a trophy. Had Misbah led Pakistan to an ICC trophy, his legacy would have been much greater of course.
