Winners to get $4 million, Runners-up to get $ 2 million, incentives for winning each of the 45 league matches

The upcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2019 will see the winners of the 10-team tournament earn a purse of $ 4 million, the highest prize money to date, along with the trophy that they will lift at Lord’s on 16 July.

The total prize pot of $10 million will see the runners-up assured of $2 million and the losing semifinalists $ 800,000 each at the end of the 46-day tournament being played across 11 venues from 30 May.

There are prizes for each league match won, in what promises to be a competitive tournament with the world’s best playing each other in a round-robin format.

Wow that is serious money!

If that doesnt motivate players than dont know what else will :D

If Pakistan do end up going far in this tournament, I hope it doesn't go into PCB's pockets.

So seems Pakistan walked away with $200K +$100k - Guess could have had more!

IPL is offering a prize money pool of 8M per season. ICC should seriously increase the prize money. At least double it. Show the financial incentives for the most premier tournament of the game.

Isn't it the same with other major sports too? Like in soccer, I'm pretty sure Premier League or La Liga gives more money per season to the teams than the FIFA World Cup does.

Same with sports in the USA, even though none of the team sports played in the US has a "World Cup" (other than may be basketball).

10 million $ in 2019 is peanuts!
Sad , no wonder players have to "scrounge" to make a buck.

This prize money is an insult to players.

Top IPL contracted players get 2 million + for barely 2 months of cricket.

Andre Russel alone earns more money playing 1 year of league cricket.

If you compare it with other global sports, it's peanuts.

Money comes from the pockets of followers. If followers are largely from third world countries who only contribute peanuts then the game then the prize money will remain peanuts.

Money for the World Cup doesn't come from the followers. This is not tax-payer's money. The money is given by the sponsors.

That would be right if the game was mainly followed in low population countries but the fact that Pakistan and India are massively involved as well as England and Australia, it means that there is a healthy sum of investment into the sport each year. The volume of poor fans each paying supersedes their poor fandom, hence why cricket is still a keenly watched sport, though the majority of interest is admittedly from the Subcontinent.
