PESHAWAR: Three students were killed while 28 others sustained injuries when unidentified armed men opened fire on a private school in Peshawar on Tuesday, Express News reported.
The Army Public School is located on Warsak Road near Army Housing Colony and a medical school.

Eyewitnesses say five to six men entered the building and opened fire. Students hid under their desks and later moved to a safer location from where they were rescued by security officials.

Militant outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for attack.
“Our people successfully entered the army school in Peshawar this morning. We are giving them direct instructions to not harm minors,” TTP spokesperson Muhammad Khorasani told The Express Tribune.
“Operation Zarb-e-Azb and Operation Khyber-I forced us to take such an extreme step,” he said.

At least 15 students have been rescued from the building while many are reportedly inside it. The injured were shifted to Combined Military Hospital.

As per initial details, around five to six gunmen mounted this attack and tried to enter the school. The attackers were wearing uniform of armed forces.
Security forces have cordoned off the school and entered the building. Officials are also monitoring the situation from a helicopter.
Attackers and security personnel also exchanged fire near the school.

Reading is one thing, imagining what it would have been being there, or witnessing that courageous teacher.. Blood curling as well as goose bumps. Shudder to think how this can happen in the first place itself. My condolences.

For what they've done, they deserve far more worse than just stoning.

Oh My GOD, now news that 84 kids have died and in total 104 people have lost life :( I don't even know what to say.

This is biggest disaster in our history and still there are hundreds of people inside :(

These PIGS don't even think twice before killing innocent children, surely even the worst of the animals can't be this heartless.

Some parents had more than one children at school, totally speechless and numb :(:(
 
What a sad day for Humanity- killing innocent kids - who had their whole lives to live for....

As a parent I can say- that will be the sharpest pain a person can go through- your kids dying before you and you having to bury them!

It is Peshawar's biggest school.

There's a very large auditorium which was packed with students, terrorists stormed the auditorium and opened blind fire on all the students inside.

There was no hostage situation, they didn't wait, just killed on sight.

Action is being taken but innocent precious lives are already lost :S
 
This event makes us realize how many lives Aitizaz saved that day.

The Pakistan Taliban -- Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan (TTP) -- claimed responsibility for the attack Tuesday.

Two teachers and an army official were also among those killed, while 47 people were wounded, according to Shehram Khan, health minister for the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The Pakistan military said a rescue operation involving its troops is currently underway at the school, with gunfire being exchanged. It added that the bulk of the students and staff have now been evacuated.

In a telephone call to CNN, a spokesman for the TTP, who identified himself as Mohammed Khurrassani, claimed that six suicide bombers entered the school compound with orders to kill older students.

He said the attack was revenge for the "Zarb e Azb, Khyber-1 military operation and revenge of dumped bodies of detained prisoners."

For the past few months, the Pakistan military has been conducting a ground offensive aimed at clearing out militants in its restive regions along the border with Afghanistan. The campaign has displaced tens of thousands of people.

Northwestern Pakistan is home to loosely governed tribal areas. It's also a base for foreign fighters and a refuge for members of the Taliban and other militant groups.

Yes, kill them all. But that should have been done a long time ago.

Its a shameful and pathetic on the part of Pakistan that it had to come to this.

There were believed to be 500 students and teachers inside - more than a 100 people are believed to be dead, with 84 of those children.

According to the army:
Rescue operation by troops underway. Exchange of fire continues. Bulk of student and staff evacuated. Reports of some children and teachers killed by terrorist. More details to follow.

3 suicide bombers are apparently still in the building.

This is just disgusting. There are no words. The only thing to be seen is how we react to this. Do we decide that somes lives are cheaper than others, and that this is ok? Or do we look at ourselves and realise that there is a problem, and the status quo will not do.

Those dirty rotten pigs, this is an act of pure desperation. They've been getting their backsides kicked thanks to military operations and now they kill some defenceless kids.

No peace talks with these people, pursue them and their sympathisers to the last man.
 
Apparently the Taliban said that they targeted children because army targeted their children,and wanted to show them how it felt
 
This tragedy is getting a lot of coverage with CNN here in the US but they haven't said anything about 100 dead, let's hope that number is not confirmed
 
I think there's a special hell for people who target children.
 
Terrorists escaping. For God's sake capture them and torture them until they give some info.
