148 dead after Taliban massacre at Army Public School in Peshawar

According to a kid that goes to that school, the terrorists were speaking Arabic …

Exactly. Madrassas and illegal mosques need to be demolished. Only allow state sanctioned religious institutions.

This. Har galli mohallay main koi bhi Mardarsa khol leta hai... there is no check and balance.

Government needs take this under their control or else these institutions and molvi's will continue producing these nutcases.

Amen to that- may all innocent people be safe and may God grant the parents of the slain kids the strength to endure this living hell.

The death of my friend's neighbor has been confirmed.

Mohammad Yaseen, turned 15 two weeks ago.

I can't even imagine what the parents must be going through... I won't be surprised if after this incident, parents are scared to send their children to schools for a while.

The Principal of the school is missing as well. Most likely dead.

I guess a lot of people in the area will have had kids that went to that school? OMG. :(

Will you have to be evacuated at all given some of the terrorists apparently escaped?

Don't think so, but yeah some of the terrorists have escaped.

Also saw the interview of the kid who said that the terrorists were speaking Arabic.

Extreme shortage of blood in Lady Reading and Khyber Teaching Hospitals, the two premier public hospitals in the city.

I just want to know why and what they want?

Why would you do this to kids, let alone anyone???

Do not know how to react....and nor will it do any good.

Feeling of helplessness is just overwhelming........

Just hope the innocent kids who got out and had to see such horrible things will one day come out with less mental scars as possible..

Thoughts to the parents of kids passed away...and also to all the parents in pakistan who will go through fear everytime they leave their kids at school..

As a parent this has sent shudders up my spine and feel incredibly depressed and emotional. These are some seriously SICK people the perps and planners of this dastardly cowardly act.

Gods be busy creating a new hell today for these peedarazi

I feel so sad.Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi raziu'n

Those small innocent kids and their parents

I thought and hoped that security had been improved in Pakistan and international cricket would return. But it is a huge setback again

But this is not the time to talk about cricket.

Heartbreaking seeing the photos of these kids :(

From the Guardian

Heartbreaking picture, look how innocent they are. Mentally scarred for life.

What a country.

Jesus said in the Bible: "Then some children were brought to Him so that He might lay His hands on them and pray; and the disciples rebuked them. But Jesus said, "Let the children alone, and do not hinder them from coming to Me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." After laying His hands on them, He departed from there." Matthew 19:14.

How does killing children advance the Taliban's cause? I know that they consider kids 12yo and up to be enemy combatants but seriously? Or is this just tribal revenge and bloodlust? I know there could never ever be anything in the Quran that would sanction this so clearly they have some other goal in mind.

Sad sad day. I am at work and started the day by reading this news, now won't be able to work.

God when will our country come out of this mess?

It doesn't, this is just a revenge attack for the recent operations carried out against them. The number of attacks has gone down drastically since the ops began. These guys knew that most of the high profile targets/ army bases are heavily protected these days and they just went after kids.

Once these lockdowns and and Plan XYZ come to fruition.

By the way, where is Mr. CM? Must be getting late for a rally.

This is such a heartbreaking incident! I'm not sure how they'd handle the entire situation after this.. :(

A girl's brother died and she's stuck in her college for the last four hours and crying like hell.

It's not just about blaming anyone anymore. These scoundrels should be eliminated from the world. What are they ultimately trying to achieve?

Don't be naive. Jesus' words had no effect on Hernan Cortes or any other Spanish explorers from massacring native children. What makes you think these blood thirsty animals will heed to the teachings of Quran? They have already hijacked the religious teachings to fulfill their twisted goals. To them these are no kids but marks, targets. The idea is to instill fear among military and their families and show them that they are not safe in their homes. Similar to what Chechen Islamists tried to do during the Beslan massacre in 2004.

Plz donate blood and inspire others to donate

Roads are completely blocked in my area now which is in the zone. Can't even leave my house.

Thankfully managed to get home on time otherwise would have been stuck for hours.

Hope everybody in Peshawar on this forum are safe.

Thanks for your taunt and pitty politics although the incident is a reaction to supposedly fruitful "military operation" for which our army declared victory not so long ago.

Anyway either we should accept the reaction of military operations and tell our army to be done with this operation within some deadline or conclude that the operations are not productive and get the f* out of this american war.

Why playing with this nation for the last two decades using this tom & jerry game. After every such incident we cry "kill these animals once and for all" and then every thing goes back to normal for few months.

I strongly believe army and gov don't want to finish of these terrorists to use them later for proxy wars and to earn money because of them.

Sorry but this Allah reference is getting on my nerves.

HOW MUCH EVIDENCE DO HUMANS NEED THAT THERE IS NO GOD????

If Pak military does not wipe out Taliban now then everyone should try their best to get out of Pakistan.

Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Raji'oon. I am at a loss of words to express my feelings. I strongly condemn this monstrous incident. May Allah give their families patience to bear the loss!

I heart is feeling a lot of pain. Being a father one child, one can never understand how much pain these family are going though.
We have to stop this. This is getting out of control 100 kids dying seal the Pak- Afghan border. Nobody in Pakistan should carry any weapon. Except Army and police.Anybody who has weapon has to give it to the police or be jailed for 10 years. We have to do a operation >>clean up Pakistan<< and find every weapon and terrorist/taleban and get this country safe. Otherwise this will never ever stop.

What can the government do, when PTI is the political wing of Taliban.

Lets have further talks with these animals.

There has been no sincere effort from our gov/army to eradicate this disease either by talks or by operations. The gullible people will just cry "kill these animals once and for all" due to emotions every time such incident happens with asking question to military for what they are eating up our budget for?

My heartfelt prayers with you Mamoon - I pray those two children are found safe and sound..!! Hang in there, brother.

Horrible news. Just a few days back I was reading about the Beslan attack and today this. I cant help imagine this and the images in my head are scary.

I'm not being naive and thinking these murderers will listen. I'm saying that the kids who died will be in heaven today.

According to reports, the terrorists were dressed up in Army uniforms.

Keep those feelings to yourself. This ain't about being Atheist or a Religious person. It's about the people of Peshawer.

Absolute tragedy.

Stay safe Mamoon.

Aamir Ali, a second-year engineering student, lost 10 of his comrades within a blink of the eye during the siege at the Army Public School.
Here are some of the devastating witness accounts to have come out of the Peshawar attack:

“I was sitting in the corridor with 10 of my classmates when we heard firing. We immediately ran towards the classroom to hide there but the militants chased us down and found us. They were dressed in shalwar kameez and the only thing they told us is: ‘read the kalma’,” said Ali, remorsefully adding that he was the only one of his 10 friends that survived the attack.

Witnesses described how gunmen went from classroom to classroom, shooting children, after a huge blast shook the Army Public School, while some described police struggling to hold back distraught parents trying to break past a cordon and get to the school when three loud explosions went off.

“I saw six or seven people walking class-to-class and opening fire on children,” he said.

A student who survived the attack said soldiers came to rescue students during a lull in the firing.

“When we were coming out of the class we saw dead bodies of our friends lying in the corridors. They were bleeding. Some were shot three times, some four times,” the student said.

“The men entered the rooms one by one and started indiscriminate firing at the staff and students.”
Distraught parents thronged the Lady Reading Hospital, weeping uncontrollably as children’s bodies arrived, their school uniforms drenched in blood.

Irshadah Bibi, 40, whose 12-year-old son was among the dead, beat her face in grief, throwing herself against an ambulance.
“O God, why did you snatch away my son? What is the sin of my child and all these children?” she wept.
At least 123 children have been killed in the attack and many more are missing. The Taliban say they sent in six gunmen wearing suicide vests.

This so called Army and goverment is just useless. Getting millions of dollar and loving living in those big house.

With heaps of kids dead, I guess they got it wrong. Maybe they thought a 12yo is an adult.

Reports are they asked students if they were children of an Army personnel. If the children answered yes, they were shot point blank.

My college has been on red alert for a number of years now. There are rumors that it will be shut down for at least a month.

Heartrending! I hope you're safe bro.

And by the way, whenever something like this happens. People give the army the license to kill them all and then army does one or two face saving missions in which again they are pretty selective and end up killing a lot of innocents too who eventually get grouped under the terrorists tag in newspapers. Then the revenge attacks like these and the cycle goes on.

Something's got to change in the approach, no?

These heartless journalists asking the parents how they feel? somebody shove that bloody microphone up their backside.

We, as a nation, have become insensitive to this most important issue. May Allah (SWT) give strength and courage to the families of deceased to get over this trauma. And may Allah (SWT) grant deceased the highest possible place in jannat - Amen

These religious terrorists, who want to bring in an extreme version of Sharia law, are the tip of a pyramid of a society that has too much religion from the grassroots up.

Army has been chasing them indiscriminately for a while now. They recently killed one of the closest aides of Hafiz Gul Bahadur, an ally of the Haqqanis. The blow back was inevitable.

Btw, Omar Khorasani, the TTP leader who announced the attack, is in Nuristan, Afghanistan.

Technically i didnt bring up religion. Much of this thread is filled with "Pray for these children" what children ? Damage is already done, but obviously you will pin point that ONE post that is too much for you to handle. What good has prayers ever done for Pakistan, Gaza or Palestine. Open your damn eyes.

PTI and Taliban issue needs to be solved IMMEDIATELY. Bomb blasts happen in Pak every week but this is just SICK even for Pakistan's standards.

My heart goes out to those parents who lost their children today. I just can't imagine how unbearable their life is gonna be from now on. I really hope god gives them immense strength and peace to get pass this horrible phase of their lives.

Can't even put into words how angry this makes me. RIP to those innocent souls who passed away at the hands of these barbaric animals.

Wrong. The Zarb-e-Azab mission is the most successful army operation in the last 13 years where they've destroyed bomb factories, they've executed more than 1000 militants, they've recovered ridiculous amount of explosives and machinery. Only problem is that these terrorist run over to Afghanistan during such operations and just as the operation is finished or loses steam (like in current scenario), they come up with such attacks.

All our national resources should be channeled to this one task only, eradicate this virus from our country. Its a shame what is going on here, feeling gutted !

Our players should wear black bands tomorrow, I'm sure they will.

A minute of silence is in order as well.

Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi rajioon. My sincerest, heartfelt condolences.. I wish I could say or do more.. this was utterly despicable..

Darkest day in Peshawar in living memory. We have suffered more terrorist attacks than any other major city in the country but this is something else.

Such a grim day.

My Dad said he saw a saved kid tell on TV that he had to walk past a corridor of his dead friends to come outside.

The kid was 8-10 years old and was crying.

This. We cannot let the sacrifices of these kids go in vain.

Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Raji'oon.

Disturbing scenes. I really don't know what else to say, in a complete state of shock and sadness right now.

Thanks to Zia. His after shocks are still being felt. Need to undo the Islamisization.
And it needs to start in every home, in every household, in every school in the land.

For everyone. For all Pakistanis.. We all stand in solidarity with Peshawar, with all our prayers and hopes with the people of Peshawar - if only we could do more..

I dont know Mamoom...all these things are just empty gestures..

Us talking...players wearing bands..or 1 minute silences....3 days of mourning...nation coming together and mourning....countries expressings support...all of them very very empty !

Actual people need to do actual stuff that will actually change matters...

Most of the victims were children of Pakistani army officers, can't wait for the anp/pmap to add an ethnic spin on this.
