With Haris it's all about fitness.

He was exceptional in FC cricket (52+ AVG) when he played.

The eye test shows he's a far more fluent batsman than Fawad and I say that as a fan of Fawad's.

junaid Khan should have got into the squad for his efforts in the CT. but good to see Sami Haris and Hamza. Nice to retain usman and asghar. Shadab is not yet cut for tests need more FC games. Good not to see hafeez, salman butt. Shehzad rightly dropped which gives an idea that Azhar will be the opener and babar will be no.3 excellent decision. Young team and this will give Sarfraz perfect chance to form a nucleus around the young guys and lead better. Consistent chances should be given to Haris and usman before writing them off. Overall a decent squad except wahab.

Compared to fawad Haris has the technique and game to play overseas especially in ANZ and England. Need to select players with future in mind. Fawad can score runs in subcontinent with a weird technique. Mickey and inzi has taken well thought out decision on replacing MISYOU is what I feel.

Junaid khan and ahmed shehzad should be in test instead of wahab and shan... ahmed is best suited for tests only..not odi or t20 player.. at international level against world class bowlers.. not good at rotating stike and big hitting..but his defensive technique and mindset suits test the most..

I like ghulam mudassar more than mir hamza..
And why not try arsal sheikh or even hafeez as off spin low order batting allrounder with yasir shah in tests.. better than bilal asif atleast

FAWAD ALAM once again ignored by the Selectors..and they picked more bowlers compare to batsmen only to keep Fawad Alam out of the team..very biased selection..People like Rashid Lateef..Wasim Akram..Shoaib Akhtar and now recently former head Coach Waqar Younis have expressed sadness for Fawad Alam..

Excellent squad except Shan.

Could've improved bowling too, need more proper pacers. Mir is bad!

Note the PCB have included

Ahmed Shehzad
Mohammad Rizwan

list is 18 players now

Azhar Ali
Sami Aslam
Babar Azam
Asad Shafiq
Haris Sohail
Usman Salahuddin
Sarfraz Ahmed WK (C)
Mohammad Amir
Yasir Shah
Wahab Riaz
Hasan Ali.

tbh i wouldnt mind Hafeez at number 6 would give the team.more balance.

I'm actually happy with every1 in the squad barring Shehzad.
Shan Masood deserves a chance as the back up opener for being the fittest man in PCT and he also works extremely hard on his batting. He deserves more chances and like I said he will only be a back up opener.
On the other hand, I have no idea why shehzad is there. He is an awful batsman and puts in no effort whatsoever. Hes had so many chances and has repeatedly failed therefore I prefer Masood.

Bhai. Masood can't bat for his life whereas Shehzad can at least hold a bat.

Shehzad >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Masood

was searching for ur comment i will give it 10 out of 10 but y did u 9.5???

I think, they covered little more grounds since my post - 2nd WK in. Though only 2 Tests, but at Sarfraz's fitness level, one back-up WK is a must.

Shehzad was my pick over Shan, which they have over complicated with 18 players for 2 Tests, but at least he is included.

For the offie, I would have gone for a young specialist one, or if it had to be an all-rounder, then I would have gone for Aga Salman Ali.

Still, one of the least controversial squad in recent times.

So this is the squad for the camp. The final 15 will be decided at the end of it I'm guessing. Fair enough.

You can look with the eye all you want and against that you have over 10,000 runs!

Fawad is being discriminated against, if there are valid reasons selectors should come out and explain them

Bilal Asif, Shan Masood and Ahmed Shehzad. Come on man, I can somehow understand Ahmed Shehzad after the World XI series but Shan and Bilal. Shan has been found out easily, just look back to last year against England. Bilal Asif is a hack who likes to whack the ball as hard is he can. Also if he was brought into for his spin then how could they not be able to find other better right arm off spin options. But Sami Aslam, Haris Sohail, Usman Salahuddin and Mir Hamza were some great players brought in.

Puts their selection in context when you couple it with the fact the Fawad has been ignored.

Fawad unfortunately I think won't be in the Pakistan team again. I think Mickey is adamant that Haris Sohail and Usman Salahuddin are the batsman that will form the middle order. Would have been great to see Fawad there.

i tink there is not any young offie in pak domestics except arsal who is ordinary,,,,,may be some unknown names which can be good but u cant complain or blame the selectors.....i think imam would have been good chice instead of shan....shan u know is ordinary except fitness,,,,18 squad is ok coz at least guys will get the experince with the super coaching staff ....like hamza,asghar....but to u agree with no allrounder in the squad,,means pace all rounder....???? could have not played but at least wouldhave shown the direction,,,,,,or they are going to develop amir and hassan for that...

INZI is treatting his own Nephew very badly for no reason........ #injustice

Apparently Fawad Alam was the same, those were the only two names to pass the test in Kakul Camp last year. Masood still gets selected because he is the son of a bigwig

that would make a lot more sense

going into a 2 test series with 18 players is asinine

Looks like Azhar will be batting at three, I'm about 80% sure now given Shehzad was added too. Makes sense, Micky doesn't really like introducing more than one debutant at a time, and one of Haris or Usman has to play and debut even though I'd like for both to have debuted. Also he's probably worried about the middle order given Misbah and Younis have retired, and thinks the two more experienced bats in Azhar and Asad are more likely to cash in once set (so can leave the job of getting starts/platforms to other openers).

Sara mood kharab kr dia.
Pathetic decision to open with Shehzad and Sami and Azhar at 3. We deserve mediocrity if we can't identify basic talent. Shehzad is a failure and had a poor series in WI. He scored soft runs.

Can understand Bilals inclusion but would have preferred a younger version of him. Shan Masood is an awful selection, should have gon with Imam ul Haq instead.

No Junaid Khan hurts but once again, a very capable selection job by Inzamam ul Haq.

Wahab is always there no matter what. His name is always on the team sheet last so I guess every time they make a squad they argue a lot over him,

"bhai but he is crap now and leaks runs"...

"Inzi bhai listen, pace is pace yaar, remember WC 2015 vs Watson?"

"Oh yeah!" *writes down Wahab as final member*

I'm not sure; if Agha Salman was at the camp then you're certainly right. He has done a lot more of note in FC cricket than Bilal who has only had one decent domestic season.

Another name that's been mentioned is Nasir Awais but he has been ignored for a while now. He's in Peshawar's squad for the QeA though so hopefully he impresses in the upcoming season.

He was certainly invited to the Camp (check under the heading "spin bowling all rounders"): http://www.pakpassion.net/ppforum/s...-continues-at-NCA-PICTURES-VIDEOS-219-onwards

Nasir Awais is 34 and his stats aren't too impressive so I would be surprised if he is in the mix. Desperately need a quality off-spinner- hopefully the PSL helps uncover someone.

Ashiq Ali and Daniyal Ahsan are two other names I know of, but I have no idea if either of them will be playing in the QEA this year.

I've seen Agha Salman and he's much more promising than Bilal Asif. We need to look to the future, we can't have players debuting past 30.

Beautiful scenario of Shehzad and Masood opening the batting incoming.

What's worse Shan Masood and Khurram Manzoor opening the batting? We have tried that as well

Amir set to return to national camp

LAHORE: Pakistan fast-bowler Mohammad Amir will return to the national camp, set to begin on Tuesday at the Gaddafi Stadium for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka, after his absence from the side following the birth of his first child last week, a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official said.

The left-armer missed the recently concluded three-match T20 International series against the World XI side which Pakistan won 2-1.

The Sarfraz Ahmed-led side’s next assignment is a two-match Test series against the Lankan Lions in the United Arab Emirates.

Pakistan will take on the struggling islanders in the first Test match at Abu Dhabi from September 28 before the two teams play at Dubai from October 6.

The Tests will be followed by five One-day Internationals and three T20Is, the last of which is scheduled to be held at Lahore, subject to security clearance.

Amir is expected to be in the final 15-man squad for the tour after the national selection committee named him among the 18 probables earlier.

Pakistan are expected to land at Abu Dhabi on September 24.

Hope Azhar ali opens, gives far more balance to the side

I also think we should consider giving the gloves to rizwan

1. Azhar
2. Sami
3. Babar
4. Asad
5. Haris
6. Sarfaraz - c
7. Rizwan - Wk
8. Bilal Asif
9. Amir
10. Yasir
11. Hasan

Thats a decent tail too, though Amir needs to stop underachieving with the bat in tests

pk

Not bad.

Azhar Ali
Sami Aslam
Babar Azam
Usman Salahuddin
Haris Sohail
Asad Shafiq
Sarfraz Ahmed (WK) (C)
Mohammad Amir
Hasan Ali
Yasir Shah
Mohammad Abbas

They might opt to play with two spinners in the UAE.

Lots of young faces but I feel they've chosen the right ones. Salahuddin and Sohail were smart selections.

yes i think this could be the best XI Good to see sami aslam ahmed is not a test player but sad caz no fawad is there

:amir2:
