Faisalabad have historically been ignored when it comes to supplying players for the international set up.

Long may it continue!

keep an eye on this guy asif hussain from faisalabad,he is an excellent batsman.his FC stats may not be upto the mark but he can bat.

as a karachiite i am disappointed that dolphins haven't won.the reason is that 20/20 is not anything new for karachiites.people thinks that GORAS ave bring the version of cricket.but in karachi 20/20 started way back in 1980's.that's why even the starless played quiet well.its just that they choked under pressure, dropping too many catches was the reason why they lost.i think they failed to handle the pressure of big occassion infront of a 40,000 people.

Oxy (Faislabad) v Sameer (Karachi)

Better luck next time Sameer bhai!

Asif Hussain.....didnt see much of him......but Waqar in his annoying style as usual was just prasing and praising him.........he might be a good talent but temprament?

OXY some really good players are coming from faisalabad.
asif hussain as i have mentioned.
saeed ajmal is a very talented off spinner.
mohammad salman is an excellent young wicket keeper.his keeping is just in rashid's class.he is rashid latif's student and he has been getting training by him in rashid's academy.
he lacks FC experience, give him 1 or 2 complete years,i am sure he can represent pakistan at highest level.

oxy bhai,
your team have been lucky, had our stars afridi, sami, kaneria, kamal, hasan raza, farhan adil have played they would have butchered your wolves.

LAHORE, 30 April 2005: Faisalabad Wolves just managed to devour Karachi Dolphins to win the final of the ABN-AMRO Twenty-20 Cup by 2 wickets at the Gaddafi Stadium here on Saturday.

The Wolves were on top from the start of the match and their bowlers gave little liberty to the Dolphins’ batsmen to score freely when captain Naved Latif asked them to bat first.

The Wolves put on extraordinary efforts and hard work in the middle and successfully checked Dolphins’ run-rate. Moin Khan and Agha Sabir tried hard to improve the run-rate through improvisation and succeeded for a while but Saeed Ajmal effectively checked them with his off-spin bowling.

Moin remained the top scorer with 49 off 40 balls. He hit a six and five fours. Agha Sabir scored 37 off 40 balls with the help of three fours.

Faisalabad lost two wickets amidst some tight bowling by the Dolphins. Mohammad Hafeez and Asif Hussain, later declared as the best batsman of the tournament, added 59 runs for the third wicket. Hafeez was aggressive and scored 38 off 24 balls. He hit two sixes and sent the cherry across the ropes four times. Asif was more patient and contributed 37 off 36 balls. He hit four 4’s.

The Wolves middle-order collapsed after the fall of Hafeez and Asif. They were 136 for 5 and while only adding 20 runs slumped to 156 for 8.

Tauqeer Hussain batted sensibly and guided his team to a two-wicket win. Haaris Ayaz claimed 2 for 21. Saeed Ajmal was declared Man of the Match.

awesome win by my boys back in lyallpur... yup that was him with that catch...sensational

Thank god this joke of a tournament is over - I couldnt believe that Faisalabad guy hitting the ball almost for 4 to try and save him being run out !

Tamasha cricket at its best!

Now lets go to WI and play some real cricket.

I told you guys to watch out for Asif Hussain before the triangular stage. His team mates have nicknamed him Veeru. Stocky batsman who has an uncomplicated way of accumalating runs, hits the ball hard with a straight bat. Unlike the real Veeru, uses his feet.

M Hafeez was the main player for me. Hit amazing shots for 6's around the park, bowled under pressure when wickets were required. Showed great experience and maturity. I'm not his biggest fan, but he certainly surprised me with his performance.

I am so happpy for Faislabad...played as a team unit and deserved winners. Faislabadis will be going mad and I predict some stars coming from those parts pretty soon. The regional rivalry aspect is healthy for Pakistan cricket.

Congratulations Faislabadi Wolves !

Now where can I buy the shirt from?!

I contacted my cousin in Faisalabad last night...he got back at about 1am...he said they were out celebrating the 20-20 win. Faislabadis love their cricket-they get behind their local team, who are thebest domestic side in Pak...and they love their test cricket...coming out in bifg numbers to watch the 'smaller' visiting sides.

And how were Faisalabad repaid...by not getting a test match in the lsat Pak-Ind series!!!

from bbc - Twenty20 is a winner in Pakistan

The Twenty20 tournament in Pakistan has proved such a hit that officials say it will become an annual domestic fixture.
More than 30,000 fans watched the final which saw Faisalabad Wolves beat Karachi Dolphins by two wickets in Lahore after a week of quickfire games.

"It was heartening to see such huge crowds," Pakistan Cricket Board chief Shaharyar Khan said.

Faisalabad received 300,000 rupees (£2,700) prizemoney and Khan added: "We will make the event a regular feature."

The Wolves won the game with just one ball to spare after being set 159 runs to win.

Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq did not play for Faisalabad because of a back injury but a number of international players did turn out for their domestic teams
