Pakistan has a population around 200 million.

The country is cricket mad

Why cant they produce more Sharjeels

There are but they are labelled as sloggers and hacks. The tuk tuk syndrome in Pakistani fans and PCB setup will take some time to eradicate.

Yes no one in Pakistan is close to Sharjeel when it comes to natural ability taking on quality fast bowlers. Time to accept it. That said there are hardly any players in international too who have this ability.

Sahibzada Farhan
Shahzaib Hasan
Awais Zia

They need to be refined but the ability is there. These guys can hit big.

Unfortunately, the team doesn't have batsmen like Jason Roy, Alex Hales, or David Warner.

What was so great about Sharjeel?

Yes, he played a few good ODI innings but it's not like he was some pro with a great track record.

I would agree with this list.
there are a couple other thats people dont like: khurrum manzoor, iftikhar ahmed.
sure they have dodgy techniques but not as bad as fawad alam.
khurrum i wouldnt bring in because he is too old now.

Yes, he played a few good ODI innings but it's not like he was some pro with a great track record.

He played over two yeasr in a stop start career, but his trajectory had started to pick up with every series. On the australian tour he was the standout performer in the odi's. three higgh scoring 50's at increase strike rates (> 130). So he was on his way.

How about 1.2 billion and no Wasim equivalents? Some players are once in generation and some need to be given right number of chances at the right time. Just need to keep trying.

Sharjeel isnt some once in a gen player. All teams have players who are stroke makers and can score at 120 sr in ODIs. Just Pakistan doesnt have them.

You are comparing sharjeel with wasim? Waseem was a once in a lifetime player, sharjeel was just average as per modern standards there should have been his replacement ready..

Nauman Anwar.....Closest thing to Sharjeel we'll find in this era....

Was thinking the same but then I read the topic again and it said 'Sharjeel' not Kohli,Sachin.
That's like a genuine question and not once in a generation for sure.

Calm down. The second part of my quote says right players to be given right chances which has not happened in Pakistan. Sharjeel was originally discarded as FTB and was not given chances. However, once he made some runs in Australia, we understood he was not so bad. Do we care enough to provide opportunities to guys like Shazaib Hasan or Nauman Anwar? There lies the question. However, we are too impatient and deserve this crop of players

we saw in psl nauman anwar and he was a nothing bat. malik is the best bat in Pakistan right now, even better than babar azam, as I don't think babar will get any better as every Pakistani stays as they are. fakhar zaman looks decent, awais zia is worse than sohail khan, shahzaib is a failure as we saw in psl too. no real hitters.

We produce them but they are labelled as hacks or sloggers and sent at number 7 or 8 where they are unable to perform and develop.

If you can tuk tuk like Azhar, Shehzad, Hafeez, Misbah etc etc etc then you will be knocking on the the door.

Unfortunately most of them are hacks or sloggers.

Have you seen Awais Zia or Mukhtar Ahmed bat?

Then watch Kohli, Dhawan, Rohit or any other Indian batsmen bat. There is a difference between a proper batsmen , something we have at the moment, and something you are wishing for (Proper hacks to somehow win the game).

Jason Roy/Alex Hales/Sharma all average in 30s, If we find an opener with 35-39 average at 98-110 SR, It'll be good.

There are alternatives, but they need to be polished. I think there are 3/4 aggressive openers in our domestic arena.

When Sharjeel started he was mostly a legside hack as well.

Our Cricket system is corrupt so most of the parents don't allow their kids to play cricket these days. Mostly kids are also moving away from cricket becuase of no heros and pathetic performances. ****** system will always comes into play so forget about our team getting better
