Can UAE help Pakistan?

UAE making upset will help Pakistan a lot, so what do you think, any chance?
 
A phainta coming up for UAE before the bigger phaintas against the Saffers, Windies, Pakistanis and the Indians.
 
UAE made 280+ against Zimbabwe. Irish bowling is of similar strength, so it's not totally out of question.

I think if UAE can negotiate the Irish spinners they can have a good chance.
 
Dont think UAE have chance here even if they score 250+ , They wont be able to defend it against Irish
 
Should be an easy win for the Irish, but will be rooting for UAE. Come on habibis beat the Irishs!
 
Irish are too heavy for UAE to be honest. i just wish if WI could be replaced by Ireland.

India, RSA, Pak and Ireland.... these teams should qualify. WI should have been kicked out.
 
Both teams have never met in an ODI before.

Should be a gud contest.

Tomorrow we will play Ireland and many people here don't follow Associate cricket and these two teams have built well a good rivalry.Ireland has defeated UAE in all encounters as long as I remember.Ireland defeated WI in their first match in this WC and are favourites for this match but UAE also showed a good intent against Zimbabwe.UAE are obviously capable of defeating Ireland.

Players to watch:
Ed Joyce: Former England player and now playing for Ireland for last half decade and was one of the top scorer in their win against West Indies

Paul Stirling: This player is probably the best Associate player and always have been in the good books and he was the top scorer for Ireland during their win against West Indies.

George Dockrell: He is probably the best Associate spinner and also bowled well against West Indies and he might play for England in future.


Khurram Khan: 43 year old veteran has been playing for UAE for last decade and lost his captaincy just before the World Cup to a local.He's also the oldest ODI centurion in International cricket surpassing the likes of Sachin Tendulkar.

Nasir Aziz: UAE frontline off spinner and can bowl doosra but he has been reported twice in last five years so he might be careful while bowling it.He also bowled well against Zimbabwe

Andri Berenger: This guy is a bit mover,born in UAE and then moved to Sri Lanka,the country of his birth.He holds the distinction of representing two countries in different World Cups.He represented Sri Lanka in ICC U19 WC 2010.He made his debut for UAE late last year against Afghanistan.





More importantly it is Firebreaker vs [MENTION=136108]Donal Cozzie[/MENTION]
 
George is world class, I fear him more then the O'Breins when pak face Ireland.
 
So, can anybody bring me up to speed on what outcome helps Pakistan. I assume an Irish loss helps us?

yes irish loss to uae or zim would help Pakistan even if Pak loose to SA but win all 3 matches against Zim, UAE and Ire

and if Ire would not make an upset to SA or Ind..

anything can happen...

I suppose it would also provide a safety margin if any of our game against the minnows get rained off.
 
Really need Andri and Shaiman to click. Khurram and Rohan need to play their part. They haven't done much with the bat.

Its hard to write UAE off. They beat Afghanistan 3-1 in a 4 ODI match series in the UAE, recently.

UAE winning tonight will increase Pakistan's chances of qualifying further.

Looking forward to this match.

Yes I love to see UAE winning tonight...but 70-30 in favor of Ire...on paper and current form..

Khurram was decent in the first match but I think they should drop one of the spinners and play Kamran Shazad and Rohan will be dropped I think for Fahad Al Hashmi.Saqlain needs to play
 
Well this is trend on this forum because people said

West indies will thrash Irish and got opposite same goes for India/ Pakistan , West indies/Pakistan and SA/India all prediction are going opposite, but this match will be an important one for Pakistan and Ireland because if Ireland loose Pakistan will have a chance even if they got beaten by SA so my wish is UAE need to win today.

Ahmed Raza should have been picked don't know why he was dropped I thought he was our vice captain wasn't he?
 
Pretty nervous about this, but we havent lost to the UAE since 2001.

Wont be the walkover people expect it to be.

Hoping Young gets a game. He bowls mid 130s so easily the quickest we have except for Chase but I doubt he'll get a game. Want to see the middle order of Wilson and Kevin contributing more with the bat.

This game could put us top of the group if we win lol, but I'm more than happy with any sort of win, once we get the two points.

We bottled a T20 game against you in WC qualifiers
 
Hopefully UAE will win, it'll benefit us immensely. If UAE don't win, we'll have to rely on Zimbabwe beating Ireland.

India and WI are virtually already through. So we've either got to hope Ireland slip up, or somehow we down South Africa.

Though don't see Ireland losing this one. 90:10 in favour of Ireland. Ireland has improved a lot in recent years, the gap between UAE and Ireland in terms of quality is too big.

Yup. But you can't have too many spinners. Ahmed Raza wouldn't have been effective on these pitches. It's a good squad, let's see if they can thump over the Irish.

They won't do that. They won't play Fahad right now. Rohan is going nowhere, as he is fantastic in the field and is a handy all-rounder. The batting looks good, bowling looks a bit weak. Need Tauqir to stand up with his bowling and captaincy.

Two people who I would recommend to look out for is - Khurram Khan and Shaiman Anwar against Ireland.

Ireland is the stronger side so I hope UAE wins. Ireland seems to have strong batting among all associates including Afghanistan, if UAE wins the toss they must bowl first to have a chance by restricting Ireland to around 250.

How many matches have these two sides played against each other?
 
Ireland will make it to the quarterfinal mark my words.Either PAK or WI will be knocked out in group stage.
 
If UAE beat Ireland, it's gonna boost Pakistan's morale.

I just hope, Khurram and co. pull off an exceptional performance.

Always felt it was a waste, they build such nice sporting facilities yet don't use them themselves, they just like to watch others.

haha so true by Boycott.

Am very glad UAE are batting first, just increased their chances of winning. Pakistan need UAE to do a favour of us here :). Though fear Ireland even chasing is probably too much for UAE.
 
Andri Berenger played for Sl u-19 in 2010 u-19 WC, he hit one of the classiest SIX I've ever seen. I thought he had a bright future. He played several FC matches in SL, disappeared for couple of years and boom he is playing for UAE.
 
You can't have just 2 associates performing, then it would justify ICC's 10 team WC plan, UAE must defeat Ireland and scare another ICC member.
 
So this is same ground (Gabba) as Pak/Zim match Sunday. It seems like a flat deck. Win toss and bat first. Whoever said Gabba is a win toss, bowl first, seems wrong.
 
In theory , If the Arab rulers invested , uae could buy a World Cup in the future by importing the best talents from the world .

There is movement in the air ... but they not bowling at consistent line and length... too many deliveries been bowled on pads or bowled at 5-6 meter length.
