I think many people don't even know who our fielding coach is since 2016. (not years :p)

Steve Rixon, who is doing the job silently, or rather LACK of it. We ALWAYS ALWAYS manage to drop crucial catches.

AND in important matches. Or fumbles.

And... the fielding coach who gets paid millions doesn't get ANY blame.

Very strange.

I couldn't agree more!

Although, generally the fielding has improved, that is perhaps more down to the inclusion of natural fielders in the squad. As opposed to anything at all contributed by Steve Rixon!

Julian Fountain had done a good job. Wish the PCB had offered him the position again.

Wait, what?

If Julien really had done a great job - why are we still the worst fielding side in the world? You think all of that was undone in the last 1 year?

fielding coach can only do so much if players dont have aptitude or willingness to put the hard yards in and improve. The lapses today have mostly been sloppyness which are their own errors.

Julien left like three years ago genius

Pakistan might lose because of their fielding, yet again, today.

Our fielding looked improved in WI series but as usual our fielders choke under pressure in a big tournament game.

Dropping catches at crucial moments is not the result of lack of ability, but instead lack of mental toughness

India's fielding - A new headache?

Now that we have our bowling sorted, India's fielding standards seem to have fallen drastically. Was this a bad match or is it something we should expect in the upcoming matches too?

Bhuvi misfielding and dropping catches was a surprise. Have never seen him do that before. With Jadhav and Yuvi our fielding standards are going to fall a bit, but we can't expect to repeat such performance against SA and get away with it.

Jhadav and Bhuvi defn WTH were they doing. Even the basics were wrong or was it dip in concentration.

Indian team just had an off day in the field. Kohli rated the side's fielding as 6/10 and acknowledged the fact that they need to improve.

Nope, just a bad day in the field as the ones who did the errors are generally very safe

I think we took pakistan too lightly and the intensity was missing, luckily we won comfortably

I would like to to pass it off as one odd bad day, hope it's not repeated during the rest of the CT matches.

Pakistan's fielding against India

Our ground fielding and catching both were terrible on Sunday against India. It started in the 2nd over I guess when Shahzad misfielded in Imad's over. After that every single player in the field looked terrible excluding the young Shadab Khan who saved quite a few runs in the field by showing urgency.Instead of attacking the ball(going towards the ball) our fielders were waiting for the ball to come to them and then throw the ball which resulted in easy singles and pressure being taken off.Ahmad Shahzad,Mohammad Hafeez both played hopelessly when they batted and were quite poor in the field too.Babar was involved in initiating a run out but looked quite nervous and was looking like he wasn't interested to be out there fielding and Wahab at times was ok but all in all he too looked lazy.Sarfaraz didn't had to do much yesterday. The substitutes were quite ordinary too.We must have given away 20-25 runs atleast due to lazy fielding and then after dropping the 2 catches we all know how much that went on to cost us!!!!!!!!
Now I would like to talk about Hasan Ali who really looks like a complete athlete, works hard and is quite energetic.Arguably he is our best fielder in terms of ground fielding but the moment ball goes in the air he drops 9 out of 10 catches. No matter how tough or easy the catches are he just doesn't look confident catching the ball at all.
Looking at India they weren't fabulous in the field too they were pretty poor in the field. So do we now say that it was a high pressure match and these kind of things happen in these big games so shouldn't be worried about fielding a lot or think about our fielding and fitness again as our fielding on the Aus tour too was pretty medicore.
This is a young side so in terms of fielding I think they can compete with other teams if they work on it.

Hats off: That was our best fielding performance in many years....

That was sublime.

Brilliant stops almost every over and only 2 misfields.

Have to say team showed spirit which I wasn't sure was there any more.

Was thrilling to watch.

Key is to maintain it vs SL.

Not in many years. I remember we fielded a great fielding side vs Sri Lanka a year or so ago. Rizwan was literally flying around the ground and the same goes for Anwar Ali.

That was a meaningless bilateral.

This is a pressure match against the No. 1.

I never thought that I would ever see a subcontinent side field better than the Proteas

Pakistan was simply brilliant

No training - The key to better fielding performances...

Hehehe.

Nice honest and funny reply from Captain of Pakistan.

Saifi much improved captaincy leader. Well done. Keep it up.

They seem to be focusing too much on drills than some fun and relaxation time. Latter is key and imp for wins.

His face catches the ground more often than his hands catch the ball. All for show.

Exactly, he's so filmy on the field that you catch him striking various poses every now and then. Him and Akmal do this where in a situation where its very easy to get a dot ball, they grab it and dramatically stare at the stumps to fake a throw at them, but they don't do anything, hold their pose for 3 seconds, and then give it back to the bowler. Its hilarious but also stupidly frustrating.

Also is it just me or has anyone else noticed :shezzy doing that fake Bollywood dive while throwing to the keeper previously ?? I mean he doesn't necessarily do it these days but around a year or two ago he would run in grab the ball, dive forward (NO NEED !!) :)) :)) and throw to the keeper, after which he would tumble and roll over like a pro.....

The entire facade felt as fake as an episode of Raw on WWE......

Imad at Point!

Imad hasn't fielded well in recent matches. He is not a good choice for point but not sure who else could do it with Shadab sitting out?

Hafeez may still be better than Imad.

Other than a couple of fumbles, fielding has been pretty sharp today as it was against SA. It was good too in the Caribbean. Credit to Steve Rixon.

Its the India match that's the anomaly - perhaps owing to nerves and inability to deal with the pressure of the occasion.
