Given the weather or Sammy's captaincy does not interfere. West Indies have a good chance of tying the series. How crucial do you think the toss would be and what should the winning captain do.b Bat or Bowl?

3rd Test | West Indies v Australia | Dominica

3rd and Final Test Between WI and Aus
Australia Lead 1 -0 . a Win here will take Australia to 3rd Spot in ICC Test Rankings

If West Indies do manage to win this Test, this will be the first time since 1999 that Australia won't have won a series against West Indies.

Lets hope we get no rain and a positive result in this game one way or another over next 5 days. Onus is one W.I to be positive here and try and level series

Australia Have Won The Toss & Elected to Bat First

M.Strac in For Beer .. Ryan Harris Back
Rampaul in for Fidel

rampaul for edwards.

though edwards has been truly unlucky due to stupid drops, rampaul is way more consistent and also he has gained pace.

Regarding that thread about the most boring batsman to watch in which I chose Azhar Ai, I'd like to change that to Cowan

haha, so long Edwards, you were rubbish ! Hello Ravi !

If Edwards adds variety into his bowling, I think he can still improve a lot as bowler. Ravi became better bowler by adding lots of seam movement, he wasn't wicket-taker bowler initially either.

Edwards need to add inswinger.

Sammy lets his team down again. He drops quite a few in the slips, 2 or 3 in this series alone.

Sammy must be one of worst fielders around! hes cost W.I plenty of runs with his drops this series!

These W.I players are really dysfunctional shall we say i wanna say something else but il leave it at dyfunctional...Pathetic fielding!!!!

As I've said numerous times Sammy is a poor, poor cricketer, let alone a captain.

Those dolly drops are not good, for sure. :kami

63 Test wickets at 31 is decent, certainly a better average than any other WI bowler right now (except perhaps KAJ Roach), second-innings bias notwithstanding.

As for captaincy, who out of the current bunch would do a better job? Gayle and Chanders are tried and tested failures as captains, even though both are fine cricketers.

Kirk Edwards, Ravi Rampaul, Denesh Ramdin when he takes back the gloves are all options.

Kirk is probably next in line. I can't wait for all the commentators' jibes regarding Captain Kirk (WI) and Captain Cook (Eng)! :))

Ramdin always seemed to me to have a level head and a leader material.

But you're right too as in Sammy's only there as default as there may not be anyone better.

This track is turning, WI should've gone with two spinners - Bishoo and Shillingford. Leg-spinner and off-spinner is always a great combo on turning tracks.
IMO Australia will not make more than 250 in this innings. Good to see Shillingford among the wickets.

Clarke can function as a decent SLA. He's skittled India on a dust bowl before so he can surely do it against the brittle WI lineup (Chanderpaul excepted).

windies should stop dropping catches and should not bat like they are india touring eng/aus in the 2nd innings.

they will win more matches.

The ball touched the base of leg stump but the bail didn't fall off..haha..bad luck roach.

Roach gets his first wicket. West Indies are on top. They can skittle Australia for less than 200 now.

Stumps day one: Australia 212/7 (Warner 50, Shillingford 4-77)

Yeah, can't let the Aussies run away with it now. I reckon 250-300 is a competitive total on this track.

Hope Windies get rid of the tail soon tomorrow and post a decent total, who knows they could probably even win this one and draw the series. Also whoever is into football don't forget uefa semi final Barca vs Chelsea also tomorrow with Chlsea having 1-0 lead coming into this game.

Good series this one, been competitive.

Yes, it's been good even though we're a match down.

Some would say it shows how ordinary Australia is right now. However, I reckon it's a better indication that in truth the WI aren't all that bad; however, we still lack the ability to push home the advantage consistently. Playing at home on dustbowl pitches are our best chance against higher-ranked opposition, as the lone victory against Pakistan in Guyana last year kind of shows. :murali

WI are still lacking that killer instinct. The finishing touch. Unless they collapse on their turn, they would back themselves with Aussies at ~200/7. But, more often than not, this turns into 300+ all out and WI themselves rolling over for much less than that.

Sums it up for me. Whereas we are not that good but we do have the ability to take our opportunities in a game of cricket.

i thought jerome taylor should have been included in the side.... he iz a genuine fast bowler

Taylor hasn't played any cricket at all for a year now. His back is damaged beyond repair IMO. He will never be back.

WI in a familiar position- strong start but oz tail is wagging and will bail them out of trouble tomorrow. Oz will score 300 or so and WI will be dejected again & lose 2 early ones.

Once again W.I had aussies on ropes and failed to run through the Aussies tail. This is reason why they dont win many test matches despite being competative in games.

Do you think because they have to include Sammy they lack that extra strikepower option (either a quality spinner or pacer) who is fresh & capable of blasting/tricking out the tail. I mean Sammy is exactly the kind of bowler tailenders cope with easily.

260-70 should do it for the Aussies and then early wickets will really put pressure on the home team.

Yeah I agree. It all comes down to if the WI can knock 2 wickets over with the new ball & get oz out for 230-240 then they will be upbeat and in the drivers seat.

If oz do kick on for 270 or so then I agree WI will likely crumble under pressure.

40-50 runs means alot on this kind of pitch, but moreso the state of mind of WI when they come out to bat- feeling frustrated like they let it slip again, or full of purpose because they just knocked oz over cheap.

Proves how woeful india were. windies arent crap but they are average and still giving scare after scare whereas india baring melbourne and yadav at perth didnt do squat.

the west indies bowling attack is heaps better than it was a few years back. what has improved most drastically is the lines and lengths of the fast bowlers(otis can probably take a lot of the credit for this) and i think they have the potential to cause england's batsmen problems in the summer.

Can't wait for Windies to come over. Wonder what Bob Wilis thinks about this

Yes and no. A four-man attack has to do the job - works for many other teams! - since WI don't have the batting depth to play a five-man attack, unless that is we find a way to groom a bowling allrounder e.g. André Russell as a fixture in the Test XI, IMO.

Chris Jordan (playing or Surrey)

Carlos Brathwaite (WI domestic)

& Jason Holder (WI domestic) all have potential as bowling allrounders. Better bowlers than Russel perhaps.

Aussie tail wagging as usual. Has won Australia many, many games over the years by breaking opposition hearts after a 1st innings collapse.

I remember the Aussie tail also wagging during the last Ashes but that didn't help too much! England just piled on too many runs (except at Perth).

Almost 300 now.

WI really need to deal with this tail-end problem. Whether it's Roach bowling fast bumpers, picking Bishoo again, dropping Sammy for a penetrative bowler (Jason Holder or Kevin McCLeans height must be tempting) or anything. Recall Narine please.

Beyond a joke & costing them match after match (India & oz) with no improvement.

Will let Wade get his 100 & Hilf get his 50 before they declare, 8-365 after lunch.

West Indies getting humiliated by Wade.

Should have bundled out Aus for under 230.

This is the difference between great teams and average teams.

Expect WI to fold for under 200 when they come out to bat. This mental torture will make their batting very vulnerable.

No, they will scrape out their usual painful 250 or so when they bat.

Great knock by Wade...
Yet again West Indies have slipped from a position of dominance to waiting for things to happen...

Brilliant timely knock by Wade, that was the last nail in the coffin re: Haddin coming back to side.

I wonder which tail is stronger, England's or Australia's. Both teams are being saved and in fact, putting them in winning position for quite a while now.

WI need to step up NOW! it's now or never. Barath has class, but he needs to show temperament.

:out

Bowled 'im! Finally, got 'em all out for 328. That's a good score by the Aussies IMO.

IMO Australia with regret going in with 3 seamers and a lone spinner, leaving out beer. There's not much for the fast bowlers in this track but there is good turn and bounce for the spinners as shown by Shillingford's 6 wickets.

More than enough to beat Windies.

Windies will score close to 200. Then Aus will come out to bat and will set a target for 400. The rest will be history. Another win for Aus :warne

Really disappointing by Windies. 168-7 and now 328 for 9. Australia have basically made half their entire runs in those last two wickets in between. There was no real batsman left except Wade. And Wade was inexperienced, difficult to manage keeping and batting starting off too. Windies should have fancied their chances. Great knock by him though.

Just a lack of professionalism and keeping the pressure on, and that lack of winning spirit.

ah well all out. Damage already done though.
