Journalist Michael Wolff's explosive new book, Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House, hit bookshelves on Friday despite the Trump administration trying its best to suppress the expose.

Publishers had responded to a cease-and-desist letter from US President Donald Trump's lawyers by moving forward by four days the release of “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House” ─ an expose by author and political muckraker Michael Wolff that quotes key Trump aides expressing serious doubt about his fitness for office.

The book quickly sold out in shops in the US capital, with some people even lining up at midnight to get their hands on it and others circulating pirated copies. Trump has decried the instant best-seller as "phony" and "full of lies."

Released on January 5, the book sheds light on Trump's reputation inside the White House, making some new outlandish claims and confirming some old ones.

Trump rejected Bolton over his facial hair
John Bolton, the former US ambassador to the UN, was vying for the secretary of state role, but Wolff has quoted Steve Bannon, former White House Chief Strategist who is now on the outs with Trump, as saying that Trump turned down Bolton due to his facial hair.

"Bolton's mustache is a problem," said Bannon, according to BBC. "Trump doesn't think he looks the part. You know Bolton is an acquired taste."

Trump prefers McDonalds due to fear of being poisoned
Wolff, in his book, claims that Trump is so paranoid that he used to eat only McDonald's and prohibited the White House staff from touching his stuff out of his fear of being poisoned.

"He had a long-time fear of being poisoned, one reason why he liked to eat at McDonald's—nobody knew he was coming and the food was safely premade," reads an excerpt from Fire and Fury.

Ivanka plans on running for presidency
The book alleges that Trump's daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared Kushner both have designs on succeeding Trump as the next US president.

“The first woman president, Ivanka entertained, would not be Hillary Clinton; it would be Ivanka Trump,” reads an excerpt shared in The Guardian.

'Semiliterate' Trump barely reads, is a TV junkie
The US president has time and again claimed that he doesn't watch TV anymore and instead prefers to read official documents but Wolff's books portrays a different picture of him. Wolff says Trump is an avid watcher of TV and has three TV sets in his White House bedroom alone. Regarding reading, however, he may have a problem.

"Trump didn’t read. He didn’t really even skim. Some believed that for all practical purposes he was no more than semiliterate," Wolff claims in his book, according to Huffington Post, before adding: "Others concluded that he didn’t read because he just didn’t have to, and that in fact this was one of his key attributes as a populist. He was postliterate—total television."

White House has had enough of Trump
Wolff claims that the White House staff stood firmly behind Trump until he accused his predecessor Barack Obama of surveilling him without any concrete proof.

"It was a turning point," the book reveals. "Until now, Trump’s inner circle had been mostly game to defend him. But after the wiretap tweets, everybody, save perhaps Hope Hicks, moved into a state of queasy sheepishness, if not constant incredulity. Sean Spicer, for one, kept repeating his daily, if not hourly, mantra: “You can’t make this s*** up.”

An unexpected victory
Despite confidently predicting a sweeping victory, Trump and his camp, Wolff writes, never thought he’d win and only sought a boost for their individual TV and political careers out of his campaign. Melania Trump, in particular, ‘was horrified by the prospect of victory’, the book claims and ‘was in tears — and not of joy’ when her husband eventually won, reported The Guardian

Another expose aiming to supposedly bring down Trump.

We've seen it even during his campaign to be President - these things completely snap the likes of Hilary Clinton and other lesser mortals. With Trump it makes the news for a week tops and everybody moves on.

In short? Nothing will happen. These 'revelations' are hardly earth shattering in any case.

These aren't earth shattering revelations to those outside his blindly supportive base that already recognised that this is a highly unstable individual with the maturity of a prepubescent schoolboy, which he confirms with every Tweet ("I'm a very stable genius").

These quotes stood out in particular:

Is that it? Quotes are bounced around by anybody against everybody, even past US presidents. You just have to find the right book.

I'll give you until 18th Jan - that's 12 days from now - two each for one 'revelation' to knock the presidency. If these are really earth shattering as you proclaim, we'll see if Trump is still President or not at the end of it.\

Chances are nobody will even remember this story by then. Wait and watch.

There's not a single quote like that against any US President in my lifetime anywhere. You say nobody will remember these quotes - well thanks to Trump crying about it on Twitter and launching legal action its gotten enough publicity to become an Amazon Best Seller !

These aren't some liberal critics coming out with this, its Trump's OWN appointees questioning his mental state and likening him to a "child" who doesn't read his briefings nor pays attention to his more informed advisers.

Listen, I may disagree with the right-wing politics of Modi or Netanyahu - but I'd never question their mental or psychological fitness to hold office.

I'm not concerned as to whether these quotes will bring him down - what I'm concerned about is the temperament and mental stability of the most powerful officeholder in the world. I had low expectations for Trump's Presidency but he's somehow managing to do the Limbo on what was already a low bar :))

You don't have to look far. Look up the presidency of Nixon for starters.

He's already put out 5 tweets since. Every new tweet is a giant event and nobody will remember the last one. Twitter is made for Trump, and today's attention deficit audience also fits in like three peas in a pod.

Yep, we can all shed our collective tears on the new countries invaded by the US over the past year, the US and world economy being in the dumps with recession biting everyone hard, and here's an interesting stat - more bills have been signed and put into place by the Trump presidency (43) already than the average of the six previous presidents (42). His business nous has helped his Presidency.

Trump has 100 lives. He can do whatever he wants, he will be out of the office by 2025 onwards and will accomplish and do whatever he set out to do.

I'll have to side with you on this. We're past the point where these revelations even matter. There is no line to this presidency even treasonous acts are overlooked (meetings with russians, confidential intel sharing with ambassador, ect, ect..).

Power, money, racism and corruption are the new norms of society today. No one has time for moral standards, as long as I get what I want I am happy and right now white people of America are getting what they want, from Trump.

Not sure whether this will have any effect but i hope all people who are initially excited about the possibility of working with Trump or in his administration, really learn from this i.e. they can be dumped with their reputation in absolute tatters like no tommorow. Hopefully anyone will think 10 times before deciding whether to work with him from now on.

You don't have to look far. Look up the presidency of Nixon for starters.
Richard Nixon was described as a child, mor-on and an idiot ? Nixon was many things but even his harshest critics never doubted his basic intelligence and comprehension of issues.

He's already put out 5 tweets since. Every new tweet is a giant event and nobody will remember the last one. Twitter is made for Trump, and today's attention deficit audience also fits in like three peas in a pod.
I'm afraid that's true, Trump is the human manifestation of the way American society is perceived in the 21st Century - arrogant, individualistic, obsessed with celebrity, brash and lacking in empathy. However he's not exactly Teflon Don. One controversy upon another has a cumulative effect - that's why his approval rating sunk to 35% last month. That's the lowest approval rating in a December of any elected president's first year in the White House by a wide margin. The GOP are also ten points behind the Democrats in the generic Congressional poll which doesn't augur well for the mid-terms.

Kids - this is why you shouldn't Google, copy and paste any old number, without doing any research. So much to debunk here.

Firstly, your stat is wrong. Trump signed 43 in his first six months. By 28th December 2017, he signed 96 so Trump actually ranks last in legislation signed among post-World War II presidents in their first calendar year. The previous six Presidents passed far more by this stage of the Presidency (Obama - 118, Dubya - 102, Clinton - 209, Bush snr - 242, Reagan - 108, Carter - 241). Source for that is govtrack.us which a nonpartisan site that collects Congressional data.

Secondly, how many of those bills were of any significance ? Obama passed the Stimulus and the ACA in the first year. Some of Trump's bills include Obama-era rollbacks including a regulation that required the Social Security Administration to submit the names of mentally ill recipients to the agency that conducts federal gun background checks (because it should be easy as possible for the mentally ill to buy guns), overturning environmental protections (who needs a clean environment ?!) and renaming federal buildings.

His big campaign promise was to repeal and replace Obamacare (because kicking people off their healthcare and cutting their subsidies is so noble). The "great negotiator" couldn't even convince his own GOP Senators to pass it on THREE occasions - they didn't even bring the fourth bill to vote because of a lack of support. The only one was the tax cuts which disproportionately benefits multinationals, top wage earners and Trump himself (talk about conflict of interest).

He escalated the two wars he inherited in Afghanistan and Iraq/Syria, loosening the rules of engagement and causing RECORD numbers of civilian casualties (1,000 civilians dead in Iraq/Syria in March alone according to AirWars). Also, there was no Trumpian magic that suddenly transformed the economy that was ALREADY growing. As for a business touch to government - laughable when you consider how many advisers and spokespeople he's hired and fired. Every insider is speaking of chaos and mismanagement.

After Obama and the euphoria of 2008 vs the reality that followed, progressives warned about not blindly following someone promising a box of goodies as they'll underdeliver in the end. Trump supporters will learn the hard way.

Whether people forget his previous tweets is just your opinion.

There are a lot news outlets and people that I know who seem to remember.
Also looks like the American public remember too hence the low popularity and the fact that Alabama went democratic after 25 years.

With respect to his economic policies, they are based on lies.
Jobs maybe up but salaries are not and the tax reform is already weakening the dollar which means higher prices. Combing back to the lie, he told his public they would be better off after the tax reform and that the rich, including himself and his rich friends would be worse off... what a load of crock... the rich will be better off and the poorer will not save enough on taxes and to compensate for a cut in healthcare and increasing prices.

People won’t forget the women that have accused him of sexual harassment and not will they forget the idiotic tweets and statements he’s made.

In my experience the only people who support him are the Zionists and the Hindu Indians...

Lol,what a child.

Is anyone honestly shocked by these revelations.

I cannot believe there is a single sane person who can support trump and i am ashamed so many Indians see anything in this gibbering ***** who cannot string two sentences together. And the fact that he cannot even recognize old friend

Also looks like you are ignorant enough to not know WHY his presidency is not ending. As long as republicans control the house and senate, he cab murder someone in public and nothing will happen. That doesn't mean he is not a senile ***** who os racist and sexist and anyone who supports him should take a long hard look at themselves as it says a lot about them

this post is hilarious on so many levels and so wrong. Someone desperate to clutch at straws wrt to trump. This person doesn't know that trump has completely failed in business, inherited billions and squandered it and is in debt to russian mafia.

And lol at bills signed. Do you have any idea what those bills are. He has failed every promise he made. He is going against the environment, tax bills only for the rich. He is a patsy for the rich businessmen who know he is senile. If you had told me few months ago, i wouldn't have believed there are fox news believing people in india. Indiandls were surely more intelligent than Americans who support trump. Apparently not

Feels like Trump gave twitter second life, wonder if they would share the difference in traffic before and after TRUMP.

trump has failed and declared bankruptcy multiple times. He has failed in all business ventures. He inherited billions and squandered it away. None of his business partners ever did business with him again. Not a single big lawyer touches him and all the lawyers he has are from the worst law schools or rejects. Yet this person thinks trump has business nous. There is no cure for ignorance i guess

Americans should be happy that they have Trump as President instead of arguably the most corrupt politician in American history, Hillary Clinton. He is extremely child-like at times, but i think his strong stand on ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION will help USA in the long run.

I hope you're right. My biggest worry is that Trump will be brought down before serving his term and giving the American people the change they yearned for. Trump is the people's president and as such deserves to be given the chance to fulfil their vision to return America to it's golden age.

Lol @ the eating McDonald's part, I remember readibg about him drinking like 12 cans of diet coke a day! That's just nasty. He really likes his junk food.

You’ve just taken the Trump route of stating a bunch of lies with the view that people here are as gullible as the 49 percent of the American public who voted for him.

Anyone who supports this man is a sexist and a fascist.

Been hearing this a lot since Trump was announced as Republican candidate.

In your view, what does that make anyone who supports Hillary, who successfully defended an accused child rapist (and made up lies to smear the victim) ? The little girl was brutalized so badly that she was in a coma for five days and unable to ever bear children. Now this is WAY WAY worse than any locker room talk by Trump. I think she even laughed about the verdict (and the result of the polygraph tests) later.

Also not to mention, her long history of corruption.

The girls name is Kathy Shelton iirc, you can read about her ordeal online.

I’m greatful that I didn’t have to firstly vote for the presidential candidate and thereafter vote for the president him/herself...

Fact is that we have Donald Trump as president...

Why do you have to bring up alternative candidates to defend the incumbent?

Because i believe Americans made the right choice given the terrible options they had. You don't hear 1/10th of the critique as Trump gets, for Hillary or even a Sanders when they are deserving of much worse.

My reply was to your statement dismissing people who support Trump as sexists and racists, which is a pretty ignorant thing to say.

I’m gonna try and stay respectful here.

You don’t hear about the other two because they’re not the president.

If Hilary won the presidency, as she did the popular vote, and made the comments that Trump has then you’d see people castigating her for it.

Fact is Trump is president, he’s made some outrageous statements and now his life and career is open for criticism.

There is a long list of lies that came out of Trump’s mouth during his rally’s and a lot of nonsense since he became president and that is indisputable.

Thanks for doing me the favor of staying respectful.

I was talking of critiques during the run up to the election. Nearly every news channels, academia (which is mostly left/far left) and even Hollywood (again predominantly left/far left) went all out on Trump. Nothing remotely of similar magnitude against Hillary

Trump has said some pretty stupid things. None of the points you're making justify calling Trump supporters sexists and racists though.

You have to see his handling of the Charlottesville incident and his backers who he has never ever distanced himself from... then the many women who alleged sexual advances...

Is this all fake news?

His tax reforms which he first stated were bad for himself and his rich friends but then told his rich friends at the New Years ever party that they’ll bet very happy... is this fake news?

The lower income class will be worse off in the long run due to his tax reforms...is this fake news?

He was a business man who ripped of mature students with his is so called university.. fake news too?

He bought cheap steel from China but spoke about bringing jobs back to America.. fake news?

Can hardly put a sentence together and never goes into any details of about his plans...

His father was a rascist who refused black people living his apartment blocks. Was also a member of the KKK which brings me back to his handling of Charlottesville and the vocal support he received from the former wizard of the KKK.

Numerous dispicable tweets including one against the the mayor of Puerto Rico.

The list is endless...

Appointing daughter, son and son-in law to whitehouse jobs...

Calling Hilary a crook due to her donations and then claiming he’s a rich billionaire so can’t be bought.
Except that Hilary didn’t do anything wrong whereas Trump played on his wealth yet was bankrupted at least 4 times.

I don’t like Hilary but in all of the accusations against her about being crooked, she actually didn’t break any laws.

The Kathy Shelton case. Hillary was asked to defend the rapist by the state prosecutor and she did. It was in the 70’s she did her job. Not saying what happened later with the tape was a good reflection on Hillary but then for two decades Kathy said she understood that’s HILAR was just doing her job.

His entire team, including his son, had dealings with someone from Russia.. let’s hope his doners aren’t Russian.

One thing I’ll agree with is that Madam President Clinton would have been an even poorer choice. How standards in the US have fallen when even the losing Presidential candidates, let alone the winners used to be very respectable guys from both parties like Gore and McCain - and yet last year the American public had the option of either Mrs Clinton or Mr Trump, so, either a morally bankrupt career politician even by the usual standards of moral bankruptcy on the Hill, or an utterly eccentric TV show host (both 70+ years old)...

Trump is accused by several women of actually committing rape, sexual assault and violence against women.

Here's Ivana Trump (Donald's first wife) under sworn deposition describing how he attacked her:

The allegation largely stemmed from a 199e book about Trump titled Lost Tycoon: The Many Lives of Donald J. Trump by Harry Hurt III, as detailed by the New Yorker:

In Hurt’s account, Trump was furious that a “scalp reduction” operation he’d undergone to eliminate a bald spot had been unexpectedly painful. Ivana had recommended the plastic surgeon. In retaliation, Hurt wrote, Trump yanked out a handful of his wife’s hair, and then forced himself on her sexually. Afterward, according to the book, she spent the night locked in a bedroom, crying; in the morning, Trump asked her, “with menacing casualness, ‘Does it hurt?’” Trump has denied both the rape allegation and the suggestion that he had a scalp-reduction procedure. Hurt said that the incident, which is detailed in Ivana’s deposition, was confirmed by two of her friends.

Then there's Natasha Stoynoff who was interviewing Trump for People Magazine. Trump lured her into a room at Mar-a-Lago, forced her against a wall and abruptly kissed her. The account is corroborated by five others.

Jessica Leeds, Jill Harth, Cathy Heller, Rachel Crooks, the list goes on and on. I'd suggest these acts are far worse - to do it time and again, making inappropriate advances sometimes even to married women. Then he boasts about bedding other men's wives in his books and to friends !

You’ve just taken the Trump route of stating a bunch of lies with the view that people here are as gullible as the 49 percent of the American public who voted for him.

Anyone who supports this man is a sexist and a fascist.

I don't support Trump, I am of the opinion that the Alt-right movement needs their time in power so they can be exposed as the bankrupt thought bank from yesteryear. If Trump doesn't complete his turn then he and his supporters will always feel cheated and be able to blame the courts for standing in the way of America.

The Alt-right movement deserve a full term for better or worse.
