80s vs 90s English songs: Which one was better?

I have been listening to 80s and 90s decades english songs and not sure which one was better. Both decades are full of superhit songs which seems to age very well. What is your opinion?

Rap/hiphop and R&B was good in 90s though.

Songs from older eras (20th century) are considered to be more memorable than newer eras (21st century) for some reason.

I think it has more to do with older people in power(cultural power) not really the quality of songs Tbh

80's although 90's were good too. I was too young for the 80s music but since have listened to hundreds of tunes from this decade.

Would you like some tracks from the 80s for me to list?

Both were good, I'd go with 80's, some major superstars at their peak in that era such as Michael Jackson, Madonna, Elton John etc.

I have liked hip hop rap since 1990s to 5 years ago
much more consistent although last 4-5 years has been not that great except for Kendrick and Cole.

Not sure why even in bollywood ve absolutely detested 1990s but English was better then, atleast compared to 80s..
60s and 70s rock was great but I think a lot of it has been better since 2000s..much more choice for everyone except good rock obviously..

Eighties had a lot of identikit plastic plinky plonky rubbish. Very simplistic and soulless. Things improved in the nineties with the more organic Britpop and the trance scene.

70’s was a great decade and a lot of the stars of the 70’s had hits in the 80’s...

But imho if it’s between 80’s and 90’s, the 80’s wins hands down

For rock 80s win over 90s. Think 80s was the last great decade for rock and then it went downhill.

70’s was a great decade and a lot of the stars of the 70’s had hits in the 80’s...

We all have our own tastes but I cant stand Queen, it burns my ears esp that mama song, it's torture for me

80's was the time of motown and soul music. Also breakdance and early rap.

Queen music is very hard to play, those guys were master musicians with complex arrangement. They had a fantastic range of styles. In addition to having unquestionably the best vocalist of any rock band ever, they had two more singers who were good enough to sing lead in most other bands. Top six English rock bands ever, no doubt.

Motown’s heyday was the sixties and seventies. They were losing money by the eighties and turned to TV production.
