A 16-year-old boy has rejected more than £5 million for a website he set up in his bedroom.

Yep, £5 million.

Mohammed Ali is apparently confident his price comparison website weneed1.com will be worth a lot more in the future.

‘The offer was rejected in December, just before Christmas,’ the A-Level student from Dewsbury, Yorkshire, said.

‘We met the investors in London, they were a global data driven company, and they didn’t realise I created all the technology involved.

‘The main reason we rejected the offer was because, if the technology and concept is worth millions already, just think how much it will be worth once people use it.’

He said he understood it was a big risk to reject the money from the American investors but wanted to create something for himself and make his website a household name.

Ali claims to have developed a new algorithm that provides ‘real time quotes instead of the normal pre-fixed quotes you find on insurance sites.’

He added: ‘The big thing about what we’re doing is that there are no competitors – this is a real time money saving expert – it’s like a Bloomberg for the general public.’

It’s not the first time the six former has been in the money.
His Project 2006 video game earned him £30,000 back in 2012.

His new venture, which he created with 60-year-old business partner Chris Thorpe, will launch on January 28.

Hope this doesn't come back to bite him. Seems like an experienced lad at making big bucks so its good. :angelo

How does it matter if he created it in a bedroom or a washroom. Mystifying it is.

Good on him if he thinks he can actually make a living out of it, rather than a one off quick pay off.

He should have taken the money and ran with it. £5 million is a lot for a sixteen years young lad. Whilst I appreciate his dedication being a smart boy he could do a lot more with that money including opening another website.

Even if he doesn't make much from this website later on (assuming), he has the skills to create newer projects in the future and make huge money. He did make some money with his 2012 game.

From another article on him:

He said: ‘My inspiration is Bill Gates, not only he has made a lot of money from Microsoft. But he has given a lot to the poor. I want to do the same, I want to end world poverty.’

When he is looking at making billions and changing the world, he ain't gonna take 5 million pounds to play it safe just in case. For all we know, this website could fetch 50 million pounds in a year or two.

This guy has a great mindset for the very fact that he is willing to take calculated & bold decisions to go big.

This generation kids deal with latest technology right from toddler level. At the end of the day it all boils down to how much resources you have to explore around you as a kid and how much emphasis parent give to eduaction of their child.

Still should have taken it. Being the intelligent young man he his take the money and build something even bigger with it. He can do something even greater looking upon the £5 million as an investment into something that can really make a difference.

from the website it states his the CTO and not the actual owner of weneed1.com, maybe this article is to create publicity.

Bill Gates didn't think of ending world poverty untill he finally exhausted his mental coding and building capacity he had to change his public image as well, the problem with today's tech world is they would eat you like a shark if you don't play by those rules, luckily if he has developed that algorithm which imo has very lose patent rights, anyone else could evolve on the same,he better go for investing.

He seems to be a remarkable coder going by his game creation hopefully he knows the world doesn't play fair, and is doing well on risk and management.
