A case of playing both Saad Ali and Usman Salahuddin over Babar Azam?

I believe so.

Both Salahuddin and Saad have a better FC record then Babar who has really struggled to make his mark in test cricket.Personally I would give Babar the game vs Ireland and if he still struggles I will bench him for the two tests vs England and play Usman and Saad Ali at 5 & 6

Thoughts?

Shafiq has to bat at 6, proven failure with an ounce of responsibility.

I saw one clip of saad ali batting and tbh i'm not impressed. Admittedly it was a t20 innings so i cannot be sure.

in terms of potential I think Saud Shakeel is better then Saad Ali but Saad is the one who is selected and should get his chance.

Youll be 50-4 in no time..can Usman and saad handle a broad and anderson onslaught on May pitches?? They wont last very long..

and is Babar capable of doing it givin his test record till now?. At the moment barring Azhar and to an extend Asad we do not have any stable test batsman so its better we give opportunities to all selected to see their skills.

maybe, maybe not but he does have experience and has hit centuries in ODI's. That gives him a head start. As a result I would have him on my team sheet before the newbies. You cant just throw them into it. From past experience our newby batsmen have never really succeeded properly on overseas tours barring a few minor exceptions. When inzi came to england in1992 he was all over the place but in 1996 he helped us win the series.

Babar needs to be backed. He is repaying the faith in ODIs. Deserves a long rope in tests. Will only improve his all round batting.

It doesn't matter whether you support Babar or not giving players with almost zero international experience in tough English conditions is not a good idea.

One can make a case for Fakhar since he is already a mainstay in LOIs for Pakistan and will have quite a bit of confidence thanks to that but Usman and Saad should be treated better.

What happens if the water is further muddied and both Saad and Salahuddin do well in the tour games while Bobster fails?

If Babar Azam does'nt perform they will shift his batting position instead of ousting him. Arthur has invested too much in this selfish crap player, who edges easy catches to the slips. If Ireland has a decent new bowl bowler than Azam won't survive long.

To see Saad Ali and Usman together debuting for Pakistan is over-expectation. Check their batting positions they are both #4 in first class. Mickey would have to bench regular duck scorer Shafiq and Haris. Its possible they might get a game against Kent apart from that I don't see them playing in both test series.

I definitely think it's possible. Pakistan do have some practice matches, that will certainly help to decide who makes the 11.

One of Saad or Usman is definitely playing unless we are going to bat Fakhar at 6 or play with 5 bowlers the question will Mickey risk both if one of the middle order batsman fails vs Ireland?

Babar the test batsman does not have enough credit one more poor series and he is curtains

and if they both fail or any one fail then you will be one of those who will ask to drop them?

Saad Ali excties me more than Salahuddin without watching them play. Batting at the strike rate he was in the domestic season on the type of pitches we play on is amazing.

I would stick with Babar. Asad Shafiq place should be in more doubt due to his inconsistencies.

I wouldn't play babar in the first test, Early on in his career he should know that if he doesn't score he can be dropped. Previously players keep getting picked even when they didn't perform.

Thankfully during this Mickey Era things are changing..

Babar deserves a go in the first test however if he fails then he should not start vs England.

I don't know. Babar has been in a very good form recently, scores almost every time he comes to bat. Will the team management be willing to drop an in-form batsman?

No. It would be cruel and unwise to just drop these guys into the firing line. Start with Babar at 4 and Haris at 5 and if that does not work out in the first two matches, give Usman and Saad a go.

I wish we were playing three tests instead of two against England.

Babar does not deserve a place in the test squad let alone the team. He does not have a solid defense and even shazad is better than him in tests. Just bc he is scoring in odis doesn't mean he will do so it tests. He has been a complete failure in tests and needs to be dropped for someone who can score in tests. He is just not ready yet, maybe in future he can play tests but still the moment he is only a loi player

Not sure if this is a realistic prospect.

Nothing so far says that they can replace Babar.

Seems like fate has handed a chance for one of the 2 players to play in HEadingley

Mani should come in... He will bring solidity to the middle order.

I might even drop Imam pop Fakhar in as opener and then have a solid lineup of Azhar, Haris, Asad and Usman.

Its unfair on Imam. When selected you should give him 4- 5 games before arriving at conclusion. If these way you bring in players and drop them , teams will not be settled
