With the world cup right on the horizon it will be interesting to compare Pakistan's 11 from 2019 vs our most likely 11 for the 23 wc and see whether the team looks overall

1. Imam Imam
2. Fakhar Fakhar
3. Babar Babar
4. Hafeez Salman- I'd probably say Hafeez just due to Salman's inexperience and Hafeez's versatility with the ball
5. Sarfraz Rizwan- Rizwan easily
6. Malik Iftikhar- Iftikhar as Malik on the pitches of England was beyond incapable
7. Imad Nawaz- I'd say Nawaz marginally due to his greater versatility with the ball
8. Shadab Shadab
9. Wahab Rauf- Rauf easily
10. Amir Naseem- Tough one but I'd give it to Naseem only because he can crank it up to around the 145k mark
11. Shaheen Shaheen

So overall looking at where their are differences, I'd say we look considerably stronger, especially in the bowling and keeping department

Sarfaraz- Rizwan easily?

Rizwan is on the same level as Yousuf and Inzimam at number 4???

Slow down hombre. I think Sarfaraz has been bashed so badly to the point he has become underrated. He has led to victories on all different types of pitches and playing conditions and I think his invaluable leadership combined with his impeccable ability to play spin puts him firmly ahead of Rizwan in terms of comparison.

Wouldn't say he's better than them but yes easily better than Sarfraz
Well it’s a stupid thing to say isn’t it? Rizwan bats at 4 for pakistan

I would argue he is the worst number 4 to represent Pakistan in a World Cup.

This squad is much stronger , and also more experienced.
The conditions also suit Pakistan better.

Imad as a bowler is more suited in Indian conditions than Nawaz. But overall I would want Pakistan to play wicket taking spinner , at least one instead of just looking at batting ability.

Nawaz has been rattled since that last over against India. His bowling hasn't been controlled and his batting looks very hit or miss. (he's either timing it very well or batting like a no 11)

Haris Sohail replaced Malik later on in 2019. And Haris did a lot better (who should've been a starter instead of seniority)

The other thing we need to compare is how much growth or decline the other players have had since 2019 and if we are playing a different brand or not. what and how is the collective game of the team like? And if the players we have now are suited to the conditions

Imam 2023 is definitely better than Imam 2019.
Fakhar is very much the same. He used to be a quick starter then, he's now altered his game a bit to score big
Babar 2023 is much much better than Babar 2019.
Malik would have been undroppable on Indian pitches.
Rizwan and Sarfraz comparison is weird as both have been underachievers in ODIs with not well defined roles as batters
Shadab is a better batter now but still throws away his wicket. His bowling was going well till last few months.
Shaheen of 2023 is much more mature and his presence is felt by opposition. Wasn't the case in 2019.

No it’s quite an astute statement thank you very much

Rizwan will definitely be one of the best number 4s for us. Babar usually chokes in tournaments so Rizwan will have a huge role- 2 centuries guaranteed

Our 2019 team was 100x stronger. Our 2023 team just has a better bowling trio.

Our 2019 team had a more inform fakhar, Imam and Babar, and an inform haris sohail. Malik, Haffeez did chip in as well. Sarfraz was also a better captain. People bash him but until babar wins a cup for his country don't complain, sarfraz led his side well. He isn't a brainless stick to formula captain like babar is.

And our 2019 team wasn't entirely dependant on shaheen, Amir and wahab, Hasan Ali hafeez, Imad waseem, Malik and haris sohail all provided good options.

Pakistan 2023 is 10x worse and is in for a massive massive massive reality check when our so called world no 1 side reaches India.

I don't think we are doing to see Agha Salman playing in the world cup. Saud Shakeel has a better chance to play in the World Cup at number 5 that for me would be a better option than Salman as he is very good against spin.
