I have always been a supporter of a cricket committee, to look into the matters related to cricket in the country, but the committee formed by the chairman Ehsan Mani has been a shock for almost everyone.

Apart Urooj and Misbah the other two members are very controversial, and it is neer a good start when it starts by controversy, related to controversial people. This was also evident in the following weeks by the shocking statements and U turns by Mohsin Hasan Khan who is the head of this committee.

Ehsan Mani here is doing a Shehryar Khan 2.0, I know it is too early to judge, but the first impression is the last impression and the start has not been good at all.

I would be very pleased if this committee is abolished and a new committee of sane and non controversial people is formed.

A good example (in my opinion) could be:

Head:
- Misbah ul Haq

Members:

- Younis Khan
- Bazid Khan
- Urooj Mumtaz

What do You think?

younis khan is just as big a drama queen as any...

bazid is related to IK..

just get rid of committee and oversee things a bit more closely...

Don't need cricket committees.... it's just a way of giving old boys jobs in cricket. This all old school.

Look at how American sports work. You go out and hire professionals who can actually do the job at hand..... if you want to build a building, you get architects, engineers, contractor....

To be honest I cant really see a decent person in the board looking at the matters of cricket in Pakistan, they are either corrupt or either dont know anything about cricket (e.g. the chairman himself).

You don’t need them, but currently you don’t have any alternative in the board. Usually the chairman sees the matters and the regions deal with regional matters (around the world) but it doesnt work this way in Pakistan.

They never appoint professionals so it can never change. They can bring in outside consultants and prepare the plans.

It's run as an old boys network deliberately.

A comittie won't fix the domestic pitches. We need to hire professional groudsmen to do this . But it's too much thinking and too much hard work for the PCB to do.

We don't have a chairman who has the knowledge of how cricket works around the world, our domestic structure is way behind, our regions are weak so there is not much we can do on it. People in the board have zero knowledge about cricket, but nobody from the Gov will bat an eye on it.

A committee basically will make all the decisions related to our domestic matters, including the hiring of professionals. Unless we make our regions powerful we cant progress. The first step for a betterment is a sane cricket committee, which I hope will think of a decent domestic structure with powerful regions. Chairman knows nothing about cricket. basically he is a dummy of Sheheyar Khan.

Why do you need a cricket committee? If you are not cued in to how to fix the game with in-house expertise , then step aside and let someone else run it.
I hate it when people show up to the pcb for a post retirement gig

At the moment you actually have no one that could put the board on track, the chairman being someone who has no knowledge of cricket and the PCB members being politically appointed too , a cricket committee with sane people could fix something

A committee by definition is not a substitute for an organization. It’s for giving advice and nothing else. Like any organization, the pcb has it rules and bylaws which don’t allow it to be run by non employees. Having followed Pakistan cricket long enough, i know that all this committee rubbish is just a substitute for a lack of vision or an action plan.
New admin comes in, say the usual rubbish about fixing domestic cricket, confronting India etc and then ropes in a few big name cricketers to buy legitimacy.
We’ve all seen this movie before.

I think PCB chairman should be a businessman type guy. It has to be run like a business and players treated as products which bring in revenue. Only then we can see some improvement.

Partly agree. It should be a job that a professional should be hired to do. Not someone who is retired or who has other jobs or gigs on the side. These Mani and Sheheryar types are too old and retired; they have no personal stake in how Pakistan cricket fares. They think they are doing a favor

The committee would be fine if we pensioned off Mohsin Khan.

I agree with Pete Rose that Ehsan Mani has talked a good game for many years but whether, beyond all the platitudes, we see any reform of substance implemented remains to be seen.

Exactly. It should be a full time job and an actual career for a person in his working years (below 60).
