A mistake to not introduce Zafar Gohar and Shahzaib Ahmed?

Zafar Gohar and Shahzaib Ahmed are two highly rated spinners in Pakistan at the moment. Shouldn't they have got chance to play this series as well or this series is only for young batsmen?

I know they wanted to give Ajmal chance but they should have picked one of Zafar or Shahzaib for ODIs and other for tests. I feel PCB have missed a trick here. I don't mind losing but I want to move on from ttfs and failures and aging players. A fresh era needs fresh players.

Don't worry, the time is near.

How refreshing to see Aslam, Saad and Rizwan do well. Consistency and 'run of series' the key now. Time to introduce Babar. My only concern is that our bowling quality has declined; can't believe I'm saying this but our fast and medium fast bowling department is lacking right now.

No, result would have been same 3-0, may be a bit more competitive. But that would have made 4 years insurance for Yasir & Babar, may be Ajmal as well.

Yea. The result most probably would be the same but giving the youngsters an exposure to international cricket makes much more sense than play 36 year olds

Exactly!! Al least our seniors are exposed and hopefully some of them will be kicked out.

Waqar ruined the entire team, we are seriously lacking in terms of management as well as future planning.

You guys need to DO 2 things:
1. Accept it that BD have been improved a lot. A better team then yours. Just imagine two of our best performers (Shakib & Nasir) have not been tested throughout the series. This shows how strong is our batting now. We have a decent bowling attack and world class fielding side. Don't try to undervalue us saying the weakness of your team and whatsoever.
2. Be patient with your current team. There is no more stars in your team. You need to give them time to settle down, accept the reality that you are no more a super power in world cricket. Strengthen domestic cricket and youth cricket. Let me give you an example BD Under 19 have thrashed SA 19 few days ago throughout the whole bilateral series. Because we are seeing a good cricketing system is in place.

Hopefully we will see good cricket in future from both Banlgadesh and Pak...

Try all of them.. I say try Taj Wali/Mir Hamza/Sadaf Hussian/ any other performing youngster.

All of them will do better then these folks..

it was a mistake, but now we know about ajmal and babar. there is no point in continuing that path.

We need to try both of these spinners in the next odi series.

Again, with the ssumption that the problem is some kind of child's jigsaw puzzle. Put xyz player and results would be different. They won't be different. It takes time to build a team and especially a team where the senior most cricket to serve as inspiration is a minnow basher.
Be patient

you would rather go with Ajmal with new action and an aging Baber in ODIs than young spinners who have been impressive who can actually turn the ball?

I'm sure if I put Fawad or Asad choice in front of you, you will find thousand reason to pick Asad of course.

I'm not denying we could have lost 3-0 with young spinners as well but at least we would be playing a whole new and young team not rely on ttfs and finished products to win us matches.

We need changes in areas we can make changes and youngsters are available. In fast bowling yes we may be out of talent but we do have better spinners than the current lot and it's foolish not to play them.

Is it really difficult to understand that you cannot bench chuckers who were key bowlers in the past and who have made the board provide a nice little present for saqlain. Surely you are not that naive. In country where the press and fans whine serially about each and every move, it should not be a surprise that we had to get this Ajmal experiment out of the way first.

yeah I understand the Ajmal case very well but once Yasir was injured they really should have send one of them to show their priorities. At the moment it just looks like they are happy with Zulifqar and Yasir Shah doing the job in the ODIs apart from trying Ajmal which didn't work out as planned. Ajmal was their plan A which was always not gonna work but their plan B doesn't have Zafar and SHahzaib feauring as well. They pretty much lie in the plan C.

No doubt Yasir and Zulifqar are good test performer and they should be playing in tests but I really don't feel Yasir is cut out for ODIs. The ball doesn't get old enough for him to make enough turn out of it to be threatening. And Baber is too old to be playing ODIs. He isn't going to be a long term solution so that's where I think selectors really messed it up.

It's all circumstantial tbh and can be argue either way. Hardly a glaring blunder or howler.

Spin has played a heavy part in this series, calling up Babar was pretty pointless. This was the perfect time to blood new spinners.

+1

It was a blunder to include Zulfiqar Babar in the ODIs taking into account that he will most probably won't be in the plans of WC 2019. It was the right time to draft in Zafar Gohar or Shahzaib Ahmed.

Calling up Umar Gul is also a mistake too for the same reason. Sadaf Hussain or Tej Wali should have been called on.

Are PCB even aware who he is or how good potentially he is lol?

I think it looks like it was a mistake.

Yasir Shah is not test material.
Baber is 36.
both don't turn enough. just dart in like Hafeez so they are predictable most of the times.

Time to move on from these two players in tests at least.

I dont think BD is good enough yet, they are still a minnow but we definitely have declined to a minnow level. May be after after 10 years or so we will be good enough again to challenge the top sides.

I think Pakistan should introduce Shahzaib Ahmed in Tests and Zafar Gohar in ODIs at least.

How have they been doing for Pakistan A?
The team management of Pakistan A is horrible.

In 1st ODI they only play Shahzaib Ahmed

In 2nd ODI they drop Shahzaib Ahmed and play Zafar Gohar only

In 3rd ODI they drop Zafar Gohar as well so no Shahzaib Ahmed and no Zafar Gohar

Extremely incompetent people who are not looking at the big picture and dont have Pakistan's long-term interests in their heart are managing Pakistan A

Those same incompetent managers being used to manage the main team. The reason Pak lost is by trying all it's new talent at once. They never integrated the players slowly into the team. As soon as Afridi and Misbah retired they were all thrust together into the team and it seemed everything was panicked and rushed

Where is he thrown in wilderness wasting talent seemed a handy overall cricketer

PCB have found a new golden boy in Nawaz so unless his time is over I don't see Zafar or Shahzaib making to the team. I don't think our selectors even know about them.
