[PICTURES/VIDEOS] National T20 Cup 2024-25 - Discussion thread

Hi
I am not seeing any real talented bowler be it spinner or pacer in this tournament who can trouble good batters on flat tracks.

Not seeing any pacer who can seam the ball on flat tracks or got extra bounce or vicious cutter to trouble the batter nor any spinners with huge revs to trouble good batters on flat track.

Only good bowler imo in this tournament is Ubaid Shah who has that extra pace off the wicket and can swing the ball late ,and Arish Ali got huge revs otherwise no any special or outstanding talent when it comes to bowling, but yeah lots of decent bowling talent who can do well in right conditions.

However there is plenty of modern day batters unveiled in this tournament who can bat at a very high strike rate on flat tracks.

Is it possible to do a list of potentially talented players seen in this tournament?

How is Khawaja Naffy not playing in this National Cup!
Saud Shaqeel screwing him over. Probably wants himself in T20 selection contention and that’s why made sure Nafay is kept out.

Not sure how he will deal with Nafay in the PSL. If he wasn’t good enough for him in the national cup, what sense would it be to have him play in a PSL side with only 7 spots available to local players?

This is very true... Saud eating up space to get a t20 shot for himself. Nafay should have been playing each and every game atm..

Peshawar and Lahore Blues secure Semi-Final spots in National T20 Cup 2024/25

Peshawar and Lahore Blues completed the semi-final lineup of the Bank Alfalah Presents Inverex Solar Energy National T20 Cup with victories over Faisalabad and Sialkot, respectively, on Monday night at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad.

Peshawar edged past Faisalabad in a thrilling contest, winning by three wickets with four balls to spare. Mohammad Amir Khan starred for Peshawar, claiming 3-25 with the ball and contributing a crucial unbeaten 14 off six balls, including two sixes, to seal a chase of 139 in the 19th over. Faisalabad, opting to bat first, recovered from 14-2 through a 77-run partnership between Ali Shan (51 off 39 balls) and Taimoor Sultan (36 off 26 balls). However, they could only add 37 runs in the final five overs. Nizar Ali supported Amir with figures of 2-22. For Faisalabad, Ahmed Safi Abdullah (3-20) and Shehzad Gul (2-26) shone with the ball, but Peshawar’s late-order resilience proved decisive. Peshawar will face Abbottabad in the first semi-final on March 26.

In the fourth quarter-final, Lahore Blues secured a convincing 33-run victory over Sialkot. Batting first, Lahore posted 184 all out, courtesy of Umar Siddiq’s brilliant 65 off 44 balls and Nisar Ahmad’s rapid 21 off seven. Hasan Ali was the standout bowler for Sialkot, taking 4-42 and contributing to a run-out in the final over. Chasing 185, Sialkot were bowled out for 151 in 18.5 overs despite Mirza Tahir Baig’s explosive 77 off 47 balls. Lahore’s bowling was led by Hussain Talat and Nisar Ahmad, who claimed two wickets each, supported by Mohammad Rizwan and Mohammad Irfan, who also took two wickets apiece. Lahore Blues will face Multan in the second semi-final on March 26.

Calling for back up. I would too when having such views. Now the poster in question will tell us why Danish Aziz is the best thing since Alice of bread.
what views are you talking about? I accepted that he failed and should not be picked in the future tournaments.

@CerebralPatriot I will let you respond to this
Khurram is a domestic veteran and he deserved this opportunity to carry on representing Karachi. These tournaments are more than just finding the next new talent, it is a form of employment for the hundreds of cricketers that have invested most of their lives in this great game.

Nafay will continue to get ample opportunities and his gig in the BPL would have been succifcent to cover any loses he made by missing out in this tournament

I think OP should rather direct their anger at his and rizwan's favourite finisher. But truth be told because you won't hear a single peep

Khurram even at the age of 40 still wants to play T20 cricket properly in comparison to 30 year olds Babar and Rizwan.

When it comes to tackling the questions asked you direct your hate to other players which have no relevance to the post.

Hopefully a change of management between the national cup and psl team will help him make sense.

So much crap, Pakistan cricket is on a downhill road , and the stakeholders have no concern with it.

Name 1 player from this National T20 Cup who is on international cricket standard???

Sadly nobody

Sahibzada Farhan not playing PSL means that the Pakistan openers besides Fakhar and Saim are physically capable to go better than what Sahibzada has done in this tournament….

Now you decide if they are.

590 runs at a sr of 198, and 38 sixes all together. The person with the second most sixes has 13.

@MenInG @The Bald Eagle @Asad T @Cricket Warrior

This is the player who you need to promote. These are the questions you should be posing to the PCB management and the franchises!

He is surely better than Hassan Nawaz and Mohammad Haris.

Speaks volumes of our domestic cricket if an international failure like Sahibzada Farhan is dominating like this.

Yep and the SR he is batting at when his career SR was like Babar level at around 130.

The standards in this tournament have been beyond pathetic. Most players can't make a dolly catch, fielding/fitness levels are horrific and you routinely have players who simply cannot full tosses.

My biggest takeaway from this tournament is all the batters should legitemately spend time practicing actually hitting full tosses for sixes. It's crazy just watching this match today you have players missing easy full tosses on flat wickets and even finding ways to get out on juicy full tosses. And fielding work. All these players seriously need to work on their fielding.

Watching this tournament drives home the realization that our players will never be ready for international cricket and I don’t see how we can recover from this.

We will be relegated to being a mid to low-tier team at international level.

Have seen enough of Sahibzada Farhan, he has received many chances for Pakistan. He is another domestic bully who gets found out in International Cricket. Even in the PSL, he did not replicate his domestic strike rate.

Proper domestic bully Sahibzada Farhan. In fact hardly one player looks international material. Talent is truly dried out in Pakistan. Terrible situation of country shows its effect on cricket also. Pakistan will be competing with associates in coming few years. Sadly team I supported from previous 25 years now looks done. Thanks to corrupted officials .

They are already competing with minnows
Nothing can change their fate until selections are made on merit and not on damaad, pmln and rishtedaar quota.

Youth is not pursuing cricket and rightly so because there is no financial benefit in becoming a domestic cricketer. Unless you pour money at grass root level to attract talent then nothing going to improve..

Most of the players yes,

I think a couple of guys have shown some promise: Sahibzada (of course), Qasim Akram, Arafat Minhas, Mohammad Faiq
