Could a simple list of the top performers in Quaid-e-Azam trophy (batsmen and bowlers) be enough to challenge the current Pakistan Test XI?

Could such a list form the basis for a mass clean-out (Australia style) of the Test XI?

I would leave Azhar Ali, Sarfraz Ahmed in place but replace all others.

Here is our cheat sheet

baring 1 or 2 players from the list non have a future for Pak cricket. Besides our domestic system is pathetic and does not groom players. Selecting just by seeing stats is a stupid way to build a team.

Sir why you don't highlight Usman Salahuddin?

He didn't high lighted it. The snap is taken recently which marks the latest match players. If you notice carefully, which I have, you can see that all those green marked players played in the QA final - last FC match of the season so far.

It is so disheartening that people like Kamran Akmal, Salman Butt and Iftikhar Ahmed are in the top 5-6 run getters.

Shows our lack of domestic resources. If such TTF's are high up in the charts,we can only imagine the standard of the others.

Ahmed Shahzad
Azhar Ali
Usman Salahuddin
Asad Shafiq
Younis Khan
Fawad Alam
Mohammad Hafeez
Kamran Akmal
Wahab Riaz
Junaid Khan
Mohammad Abbas

Hafeez as the leading spinner cos there's no other off spinner in Pakistan. Azhar with handy leg spin, Fawad with handy left arm spin. Abbas and Junaid to provide a left arm, right arm bowling combination. Wahab with his sheer pace.

Just love it when people put the likes of Hafeez at no 6, 7 etc..
Ppl like Hafeez would rather stop playing altogether than to be seen lower down the order....

How do we expect new talent to be groomed when these TTFs are starting and the ones who may actually have a FUTURE are sitting on the bench.

I hope Imam isn't being considered, based on one season.

His FC average is still sub-par and needs another solid season, before thinking about playing him in the national team.

No, I'm arguing for him ahead of Salman Butt.

The more you expose young Pakistanis to domestic cricket, the worse they get.

Anyway, you have Azhar, Sami, Shafiq and Babar. Possibly Younis.

You don't need more batsmen. You need to develop all-rounders.

Not true for the batsmen and in fact, those that average around 40 or below in FC tend to struggle internationally and when they return, they have lost their confidence and struggle in FC is well.

There is a problem with bowlers, but the batsmen are fine and should be chosen via FC performances.

You cannot have 2 standards for selecting bowlers and batsmen from domestic

That's because the conditions are conducive for pacers, hence the stats can be misleading.

That doesn't mean all the bowlers that are averaging between 18-25 are not of international standard, but a fair share of them will be and that's why selecting bowlers should be a thorough process.
