Floyd Mayweather is often given a fair amount of stick for being the man who pushed boxing back 10 years after his awful performance in the infamous "fight of the century", his knack for running away from opponents either beyond the squared circle or inside it and finally many tend to deem him a wife beater with no respect for women.

However, ever since his retirement the man has taken up promotional duties and his relationship with one of his promising fighters Gervonta Davies has been heart warming. Floyd has been hell bent on ensuring Davies does not go astray by taking him in when he was struggling in his personal life and guiding him to a stunning world title victory over Jose Pedraza.

Floyd has been very hands on with Gervonta by even training with him and going for a jog with his fighter:

Gervonta grew up in the inner city with no father, some younger siblings and a mother who was never home; he'd stay inside one room with his siblings and take each day as it came. Floyd not only took Gervonta in but he also took care of his family and constantly prevents Gervonta from interacting with his inner city friends who can encourage him to indulge in a life style which would be very counter productive to his boxing career. In addition, having been a fighter and seen it all; Gervonta can consider himself to be in safe hands in terms of his future financial prospects given how promoters often rip fighters off.

Floyd does not need money but has taken up promotional duties for the love of boxing and his relationship with Gervonta is heart warming, in every interview he speaks very passionately about his fighter and you can sense the love he has for him and almost see's him as his own son.

Anyhow you guys should watch out for Gervonta, the young man is an exceptional talent and one for the future; he is the most promising American fighter I've seen for a very very long time! at the young age of 22 he is already world champion and beyond his years! speed, power, movement, excellent defence/attack, decent in-ring IQ and an aggressive fighter who's great to watch as well:

There's some room for improvement in terms of improving his defence when under attack can come across as a bit static but he's not someone who is flat footed, with more experience he should get even better but my word for his age unbelievable.

That's a heart-touching story, reading about his troubles growing up makes you want to root for Gervonta every time he steps inside the ring. He's also lucky to have someone like Floyd as his mentor at this stage of his career. Certainly seems to have a very bright future ahead of him!

And as you said before that you want to get into boxing again, Gervonta is a great young prospect to follow! trust in the bear, he will come good; no one will be able to accuse you of being a bandwagon jumper :afridi much like all the Triple G fans, they created such an amazing gimmick that even his lacklustre performances get advocated as emphatic wins. Be sure to check out Joshua/Wlad and other fighters you should keep tabs on are Lomachenko, Terrence Crawford, Kovalev, Andre Ward and future ATG/Birmingham-Bears first world champion Kal Yafai sponsored by the Big Cats.

Thanks man, I'll definitely try to catch these fights.

It's hard not to support Gervonta after reading his insperational story, he's certainly paid his dues!

Floyd should try showbiz. Maybe get in Rocky 8 or something

He needs the money. That's why he's doing this

Definitely, guy just stuck on the right path since the age of 5 to his boxing can you imagine what we were up to at that age :))) and he had a lot happening around him but he didn't allow it to consume him

Great to read,thanks.

Although this young boxer is an investment for Floyd, you can tell he cares about the guy too. Mayweather was obviously an exceptional talent but his work ethic and foucs made him into a great. This kid will go a long way if he listens to him.

shaz619 he is American. Generosity is in our blood.

100% agree with you, Floyd's work ethic was unreal; he completely transformed his style from his youth and got better with experience; Davis will be in good stead with his development and financial prospect, Floyd doesn't have the best rep around but no one can deny his intelligence when it promotion

A sensational knockout by the 22 year old World Champion in Gervonta Davies today, he finished a highly rated contender at 130lb from the UK who was 8 years his senior with a 100 more rounds under his belt. Gervonta for his age is almost like an alien! terrific performance from him

ShahKhan007 what do you make of this extremely close relationship between Floyd and Gervonta, share your experiences?

Nice share shaz.

Man were it not for Boxing Gervonta would either be dead or in jail, credit to Floyd as well; he's trying to get Gervonta to leave the hood as well but is finding it challenging as Gervonta doesn't want to abandon the people in his inner city and be a role model for everyone there despite how hard things are over there, plus he doesn't want to be seen as the guy who forgot where he came from etc and such men tend to get a really bad rep amongst their old friends. But Floyd see's everything there as a bad influence and wants him out of there.

He's a very humble guy who says he does not feel pain anymore, a quiet boy only 22 and just keeps working hard and going about his business; in the ring he's an exceptional talent and has the chance to be the next big star of boxing.

The likes of Woods, Federer and Ronaldo might be richer.

Perhaps that is true now, but he ended his career as the richest after beating manny but is still up there given not just career earnings but his brand and other business ventures. I haven't checked the stats for the names you mention where does forbes rank them compared to Floyd and what is their networth?

Oh I haven't checked Forbes.

But wasn't Woods considered the first billionaire sportsman?

Federer gets like $65 million a year, so he must be worth at least over $400 million and Ronaldo is the highest paid footballer combined in salary and endorsements iirc.

Yeah Woods was the first to 1 Billion but is worth less than that now. I checked that in 2012 Floyd earned more then anyone, then he retired and when he came back earned the most in 2014 and 2016 according to forbes and holds world records for generating the most during single sporting events. I just checked that overall Floyd, Ronaldo and Federer have a NetWorth of $400 million. Tiger Woods about $750 :))

Am not sure if Woods was worth 1 Billion or if that number was his career earnings though, Floyd's overall career earnings from his in-ring purse was $700 million

Wow that is ridiculous.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of those figures are a lot more than estimated.

Floyd Mayweather is in negotiations to fight YouTube influencer Logan Paul, according to Viddal Riley.

Riley is the only British boxer to be signed to Mayweather Promotions, is trained by Floyd's uncle Jeff and acted as the trainer for KSI, who beat Paul in YouTuber boxing's biggest moment last year.

"Logan Paul vs Floyd Mayweather? How is this is a thing? I don't understand," Riley said.

"Both guys are in talks. It is not confirmed yet.

"Remember, I get the inside scoop. I hang around the family. It is not confirmed yet but it is in talks."

From YouTuber boxing to Mike Tyson's undercard

Mayweather, now aged 43, retired in 2017 with a perfect 50-0 record as an all-time boxing great.

Paul lost his only pro boxing match to fellow YouTuber KSI, who Riley insists deserves the opportunity to face Mayweather instead.

"Floyd is fighting the loser of the situation," Riley said. "I like Logan but he did lose - he had a draw then lost. But he is still generating this attention.

"What has happened to the winner, the golden child? Where is the real money fight? That is KSI.

"Where would the most money be secured? It's not with Logan because he is a B-side. Where is the money? It's with KSI. He was the winner.

"The fight people want to see is Jake Paul vs KSI. Nobody mentions Logan Paul."
