But he went missing so often, that it was useless that he fired in 30 odd matches.

i am very happy that Pakistan Cricket Board has realized this and are planning a grand farewell for Afridi.

He has been the greatest crowd puller for Pakistan Cricket and deserves to be mentioned alongside Imran and Wasim, if not higher.

What a pathetic thread. Afridi was a bigger match-winner in ODI cricket than almost anyone else. Definitely trumps Imran in this category. Afridi was also a bigger ODI match-winner than anyone from India, including the choker, Sachin Tendulkar.

Afridi's problem though, was that he had too many mediocre performances and that is what stops him from reaching the ATG status of someone like Imran or Wasim. Even during their regular days, these legends were very good.

I just dont know why the people cant realize that Afridi Misbah Malik Hafeez etc are not as good as some people believe and not as bad as the other group of people believe.. They are goodish players somewhere in the middle.
And one other thing why every body thinks that the older retired players(Zaheer Abbas, Hanif Muhammad etc) were so much better than current players.. Azhar Ali has better record than both of these LEGENDARY batsman, But Azhar ALi, asad shafiq are useless players and they were legends.

Afridi had the ability to turn a match on it's head. He could easily play at a SR of 200 if he tried. I'll give you an example of it. In Asia Cup, when Pakistan needed 135 from 14 overs. A wicket fell, and instead of Afridi, Abdur Rehman was sent in. I kid you not. He scored 8(8) and that left 115 off 10 overs for Pakistan. They sent in Abdur Rehman before Afridi because they knew that he could easily knock off the target himself. And scored 56(20) and won the match for Pakistan. This mentality still plagues some of our players like Hafeez and Shehzad. They are used to playing slow in the beginning because Umar Akmal and Afridi would make up for it later. Not anymore, now Pakistan have Sarfraz and Shadab coming in at those positions. The plummet of the Pakistan ODI team to #9 in rankings was due to the loss of legend Afridi.

"So called" ???? They are one of the best ATG without a doubt. They're head and shoulders above Afridi. Although yes Afridi was a superior matchwinner, Imran and Wasim were much more consistent.. which is what most teams would want. Afridi winning more matches does not mean he is better than them!

Is it his fault the ODI teams he played in werent good enough to get to the finals of any ODI World CUps? If Pakistan had reached any of the world cup finals, Afridi would have won the cup! Remember the semi final against India where all and sundry were dropping Sachin left, right and center. Who put an end to that innings, who finally took the catch?

Please dont talk nonsense... Imran and Wasim should thank Inzamam for getting then to the finals in the first place. Also dont forget the single point Pakistan received in the rain interrupted match which was crucial to get selected in the knock out stage in the first place. Pakistan was dismissed for 74 in that game. It was divine intervention that won Pakistan the 1992 World Cup. It was Afridi that won pakistan the 2009 T20 World Cup.

Afridi won the man of the match in the semi finals of the world cup as well... Do any of you remember that?

So yeah!!!! Afridi is the bigger Beast than the Imran and Wasim.
